85. Al-Buruj Page 59085. Al-Burujبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِوَ السَّمَآءِBy the skyذَاتِcontainingالْبُرُوْجِۙthe constellations
(85:1) By the sky containing great stars
وَ الْیَوْمِAnd the DayالْمَوْعُوْدِۙPromised
(85:2) And [by] the promised Day
وَ شَاهِدٍAnd (the) witnessوَّ مَشْهُوْدٍؕand what is witnessed
(85:3) And [by] the witness and what is witnessed,
قُتِلَDestroyed wereاَصْحٰبُ(the) companionsالْاُخْدُوْدِۙ(of) the pit
(85:4) Cursed were the companions of the trench
النَّارِ(Of) the fireذَاتِfullالْوَقُوْدِۙ(of) the fuel
(85:5) [Containing] the fire full of fuel,
اِذْWhenهُمْtheyعَلَیْهَاby itقُعُوْدٌۙ(were) sitting
(85:6) When they were sitting near it
وَّ هُمْAnd theyعَلٰیoverمَاwhatیَفْعَلُوْنَthey were doingبِالْمُؤْمِنِیْنَto the believersشُهُوْدٌؕwitnesses
(85:7) And they, to what they were doing against the believers, were witnesses.
وَ مَاAnd notنَقَمُوْاthey resentedمِنْهُمْ[of] themاِلَّاۤexceptاَنْthatیُّؤْمِنُوْاthey believedبِاللّٰهِin Allahالْعَزِیْزِthe All-Mightyالْحَمِیْدِۙthe Praiseworthy
(85:8) And they resented them not except because they believed in Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy,
الَّذِیْThe One Whoلَهٗfor Himمُلْكُ(is) the dominionالسَّمٰوٰتِ(of) the heavensوَ الْاَرْضِ ؕand the earth;وَ اللّٰهُand Allahعَلٰیonكُلِّeveryشَیْءٍthingشَهِیْدٌؕ(is) a Witness
(85:9) To whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. And Allah, over all things, is Witness.
اِنَّIndeedالَّذِیْنَthose whoفَتَنُواpersecutedالْمُؤْمِنِیْنَthe believing menوَ الْمُؤْمِنٰتِand the believing womenثُمَّthenلَمْnotیَتُوْبُوْاthey repentedفَلَهُمْthen for themعَذَابُ(is) the punishmentجَهَنَّمَ(of) Hellوَ لَهُمْand for themعَذَابُ(is the) punishmentالْحَرِیْقِؕ(of) the Burning Fire
(85:10) Indeed, those who have tortured the believing men and believing women and then have not repented will have the punishment of Hell, and they will have the punishment of the Burning Fire.
اِنَّIndeedالَّذِیْنَthose whoاٰمَنُوْاbelieveوَ عَمِلُواand doالصّٰلِحٰتِthe righteous deedsلَهُمْfor themجَنّٰتٌ(will be) Gardensتَجْرِیْflowمِنْfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath itالْاَنْهٰرُ ؔؕ۬the riversذٰلِكَThatالْفَوْزُ(is) the successالْكَبِیْرُؕthe great
(85:11) Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds will have gardens beneath which rivers flow. That is the great attainment.
اِنَّIndeedبَطْشَ(the) Gripرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordلَشَدِیْدٌؕ(is) surely strong
(85:12) Indeed, the vengeance of your Lord is severe.
اِنَّهٗIndeed HeهُوَHeیُبْدِئُoriginatesوَ یُعِیْدُۚand repeats
(85:13) Indeed, it is He who originates [creation] and repeats.
وَ هُوَAnd Heالْغَفُوْرُ(is) the Oft-Forgivingالْوَدُوْدُۙthe Most Loving
(85:14) And He is the Forgiving, the Affectionate,
ذُوOwner (of)الْعَرْشِthe Throneالْمَجِیْدُۙthe Glorious
(85:15) Honorable Owner of the Throne,
فَعَّالٌDoerلِّمَاof whatیُرِیْدُؕHe intends
(85:16) Effecter of what He intends.
هَلْHasاَتٰىكَcome to youحَدِیْثُ(the) storyالْجُنُوْدِۙ(of) the hosts
(85:17) Has there reached you the story of the soldiers -
فِرْعَوْنَFiraunوَ ثَمُوْدَؕand Thamud
(85:18) [Those of] Pharaoh and Thamud?
بَلِNay!الَّذِیْنَThose whoكَفَرُوْاdisbelieveفِیْ(are) inتَكْذِیْبٍۙdenial
(85:19) But they who disbelieve are in [persistent] denial,
وَّ اللّٰهُBut Allahمِنْfromوَّرَآىِٕهِمْbehind themمُّحِیْطٌۚencompasses
(85:20) While Allah encompasses them from behind.
بَلْNay!هُوَItقُرْاٰنٌ(is) a QuranمَّجِیْدٌۙGlorious
(85:21) But this is an honored Qur'an
فِیْInلَوْحٍa Tabletمَّحْفُوْظٍ۠Guarded
(85:22) [Inscribed] in a Preserved Slate.
86. At-Tariq Page 59186. At-Tariqبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِوَ السَّمَآءِBy the skyوَ الطَّارِقِۙand the night comer
(86:1) By the sky and the night comer -
وَ مَاۤAnd whatاَدْرٰىكَcan make you knowمَاwhatالطَّارِقُۙthe night comer (is)
(86:2) And what can make you know what is the night comer?
النَّجْمُ(It is) the starالثَّاقِبُۙthe piercing!
(86:3) It is the piercing star -
اِنْNotكُلُّ(is) everyنَفْسٍsoulلَّمَّاbutعَلَیْهَاover itحَافِظٌؕ(is) a protector
(86:4) There is no soul but that it has over it a protector.
فَلْیَنْظُرِSo let seeالْاِنْسَانُmanمِمَّfrom whatخُلِقَؕhe is created
(86:5) So let man observe from what he was created.
خُلِقَHe is createdمِنْfromمَّآءٍa waterدَافِقٍۙejected
(86:6) He was created from a fluid, ejected,
یَّخْرُجُComing forthمِنْۢfromبَیْنِbetweenالصُّلْبِthe backboneوَ التَّرَآىِٕبِؕand the ribs
(86:7) Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs.
اِنَّهٗIndeed Heعَلٰیtoرَجْعِهٖreturn himلَقَادِرٌؕ(is) Able
(86:8) Indeed, Allah, to return him [to life], is Able.
یَوْمَ(The) Dayتُبْلَیwill be testedالسَّرَآىِٕرُۙthe secrets
(86:9) The Day when secrets will be put on trial,
فَمَاThen notلَهٗ(is) for himمِنْanyقُوَّةٍpowerوَّ لَاand notنَاصِرٍؕany helper
(86:10) Then man will have no power or any helper.
وَ السَّمَآءِBy the skyذَاتِwhichالرَّجْعِۙreturns
(86:11) By the sky which returns [rain]
وَ الْاَرْضِAnd the earthذَاتِwhichالصَّدْعِۙcracks open
(86:12) And [by] the earth which cracks open,
اِنَّهٗIndeed itلَقَوْلٌ(is) surely a Wordفَصْلٌۙdecisive
(86:13) Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement,
وَّ مَاAnd notهُوَitبِالْهَزْلِؕ(is) for amusement
(86:14) And it is not amusement.
اِنَّهُمْIndeed theyیَكِیْدُوْنَare plottingكَیْدًاۙa plot
(86:15) Indeed, they are planning a plan,
وَّ اَكِیْدُBut I am planningكَیْدًاۚۖa plan
(86:16) But I am planning a plan.
فَمَهِّلِSo give respiteالْكٰفِرِیْنَ(to) the disbelieversاَمْهِلْهُمْGive respite to themرُوَیْدًا۠little
(86:17) So allow time for the disbelievers. Leave them awhile.
87. Al-A'laبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِسَبِّحِGlorifyاسْمَ(the) nameرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordالْاَعْلَیۙthe Most High
(87:1) Exalt the name of your Lord, the Most High,
الَّذِیْThe One Whoخَلَقَcreatedفَسَوّٰی۪ۙthen proportioned
(87:2) Who created and proportioned
وَ الَّذِیْAnd the One Whoقَدَّرَmeasuredفَهَدٰی۪ۙthen guided
(87:3) And who destined and [then] guided
وَ الَّذِیْۤAnd the One Whoاَخْرَجَbrings forthالْمَرْعٰی۪ۙthe pasture
(87:4) And who brings out the pasture
فَجَعَلَهٗAnd then made itغُثَآءًstubbleاَحْوٰیؕdark
(87:5) And [then] makes it black stubble.
سَنُقْرِئُكَWe will make you reciteفَلَاso notتَنْسٰۤیۙyou will forget
(87:6) We will make you recite, [O Muhammad], and you will not forget,
اِلَّاExceptمَاwhatشَآءَwillsاللّٰهُ ؕAllahاِنَّهٗIndeed, Heیَعْلَمُknowsالْجَهْرَthe manifestوَ مَاand whatیَخْفٰیؕis hidden
(87:7) Except what Allah should will. Indeed, He knows what is declared and what is hidden.
وَ نُیَسِّرُكَAnd We will ease youلِلْیُسْرٰیۚۖto the ease
(87:8) And We will ease you toward ease.
فَذَكِّرْSo remindاِنْifنَّفَعَتِbenefitsالذِّكْرٰیؕthe reminder
(87:9) So remind, if the reminder should benefit;
سَیَذَّكَّرُHe will pay heedمَنْ(one) whoیَّخْشٰیۙfears (Allah)
(87:10) He who fears [Allah] will be reminded.
وَ یَتَجَنَّبُهَاAnd will avoid itالْاَشْقَیۙthe wretched one
(87:11) But the wretched one will avoid it -
الَّذِیْThe one whoیَصْلَیwill burnالنَّارَ(in) the Fireالْكُبْرٰیۚ[the] great
(87:12) [He] who will [enter and] burn in the greatest Fire,
ثُمَّThenلَاnotیَمُوْتُhe will dieفِیْهَاthereinوَ لَاand notیَحْیٰیؕwill live
(87:13) Neither dying therein nor living.
قَدْCertainlyاَفْلَحَhas succeededمَنْ(one) whoتَزَكّٰیۙpurifies (himself)
(87:14) He has certainly succeeded who purifies himself
وَ ذَكَرَAnd remembersاسْمَ(the) nameرَبِّهٖ(of) his Lordفَصَلّٰیؕand prays
(87:15) And mentions the name of his Lord and prays.
87. Al-A'la Page 592بَلْNay!تُؤْثِرُوْنَYou preferالْحَیٰوةَthe lifeالدُّنْیَاؗۖ(of) the world
(87:16) But you prefer the worldly life,
وَ الْاٰخِرَةُWhile the Hereafterخَیْرٌ(is) betterوَّ اَبْقٰیؕand ever lasting
(87:17) While the Hereafter is better and more enduring.
اِنَّIndeedهٰذَاthisلَفِیsurely (is) inالصُّحُفِthe Scripturesالْاُوْلٰیۙ[the] former
(87:18) Indeed, this is in the former scriptures,
صُحُفِ(The) Scripturesاِبْرٰهِیْمَ(of) Ibrahimوَ مُوْسٰی۠and Musa
(87:19) The scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
88. Al-Ghashiyahبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِهَلْHasاَتٰىكَ(there) come to youحَدِیْثُ(the) newsالْغَاشِیَةِؕ(of) the Overwhelming
(88:1) Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]?
وُجُوْهٌFacesیَّوْمَىِٕذٍthat Dayخَاشِعَةٌۙ(will be) humbled
(88:2) [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled,
عَامِلَةٌLaboringنَّاصِبَةٌۙexhausted
(88:3) Working [hard] and exhausted.
تَصْلٰیThey will burnنَارًا(in) a Fireحَامِیَةًۙintensely hot
(88:4) They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire.
تُسْقٰیThey will be given to drinkمِنْfromعَیْنٍa springاٰنِیَةٍؕboiling
(88:5) They will be given drink from a boiling spring.
لَیْسَIs notلَهُمْfor themطَعَامٌfoodاِلَّاexceptمِنْfromضَرِیْعٍۙa bitter thorny plant
(88:6) For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant
لَّاNotیُسْمِنُit nourishesوَ لَاand notیُغْنِیْit availsمِنْagainstجُوْعٍؕhunger
(88:7) Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger.
وُجُوْهٌFacesیَّوْمَىِٕذٍthat Dayنَّاعِمَةٌۙ(will be) joyful
(88:8) [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure.
لِّسَعْیِهَاWith their effortرَاضِیَةٌۙsatisfied
(88:9) With their effort [they are] satisfied
فِیْInجَنَّةٍa gardenعَالِیَةٍۙelevated
(88:10) In an elevated garden,
لَّاNotتَسْمَعُthey will hearفِیْهَاthereinلَاغِیَةًؕvain talk
(88:11) Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.
فِیْهَاThereinعَیْنٌ(will be) a springجَارِیَةٌۘflowing
(88:12) Within it is a flowing spring.
فِیْهَاThereinسُرُرٌ(will be) thronesمَّرْفُوْعَةٌۙraised high
(88:13) Within it are couches raised high
وَّ اَكْوَابٌAnd cupsمَّوْضُوْعَةٌۙput in place
(88:14) And cups put in place
وَّ نَمَارِقُAnd cushionsمَصْفُوْفَةٌۙlined up
(88:15) And cushions lined up
وَّ زَرَابِیُّAnd carpetsمَبْثُوْثَةٌؕspread out
(88:16) And carpets spread around.
اَفَلَاThen do notیَنْظُرُوْنَthey lookاِلَیatالْاِبِلِthe camelsكَیْفَhowخُلِقَتْۥthey are created
(88:17) Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created?
وَ اِلَیAnd atالسَّمَآءِthe skyكَیْفَhowرُفِعَتْۥit is raised
(88:18) And at the sky - how it is raised?
وَ اِلَیAnd atالْجِبَالِthe mountainsكَیْفَhowنُصِبَتْۥthey are fixed
(88:19) And at the mountains - how they are erected?
وَ اِلَیAnd atالْاَرْضِthe earthكَیْفَhowسُطِحَتْۥit is spread out
(88:20) And at the earth - how it is spread out?
فَذَكِّرْ ؕ۫So remindاِنَّمَاۤonlyاَنْتَyouمُذَكِّرٌؕ(are) a reminder
(88:21) So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder.
لَسْتَYou are notعَلَیْهِمْover themبِمُصَۜیْطِرٍۙa controller
(88:22) You are not over them a controller.
اِلَّاButمَنْwhoeverتَوَلّٰیturns awayوَ كَفَرَۙand disbelieves
(88:23) However, he who turns away and disbelieves -
فَیُعَذِّبُهُThen will punish himاللّٰهُAllahالْعَذَابَ(with) the punishmentالْاَكْبَرَؕgreatest
(88:24) Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment.
اِنَّIndeedاِلَیْنَاۤto Usاِیَابَهُمْۙ(will be) their return
(88:25) Indeed, to Us is their return.
ثُمَّThenاِنَّindeedعَلَیْنَاupon Usحِسَابَهُمْ۠(is) their account
(88:26) Then indeed, upon Us is their account.
89. Al-Fajr Page 59389. Al-Fajrبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِوَ الْفَجْرِۙBy the dawn
(89:1) By the dawn
وَ لَیَالٍAnd the nightsعَشْرٍۙten
(89:2) And [by] ten nights
وَّ الشَّفْعِAnd the evenوَ الْوَتْرِۙand the odd
(89:3) And [by] the even [number] and the odd
وَ الَّیْلِAnd the nightاِذَاwhenیَسْرِۚit passes
(89:4) And [by] the night when it passes,
هَلْIsفِیْinذٰلِكَthatقَسَمٌan oathلِّذِیْfor thoseحِجْرٍؕwho understand
(89:5) Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?
اَلَمْDo notتَرَyou seeكَیْفَhowفَعَلَdealtرَبُّكَyour Lordبِعَادٍ۪ۙwith Aad
(89:6) Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with 'Aad -
اِرَمَIramذَاتِpossessors (of)الْعِمَادِ۪ۙlofty pillars
(89:7) [With] Iram - who had lofty pillars,
الَّتِیْWhichلَمْnotیُخْلَقْhad been createdمِثْلُهَاlike themفِیinالْبِلَادِ۪ۙthe cities
(89:8) The likes of whom had never been created in the land?
وَ ثَمُوْدَAnd Thamudالَّذِیْنَwhoجَابُواcarved outالصَّخْرَthe rocksبِالْوَادِ۪ۙin the valley
(89:9) And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?
وَ فِرْعَوْنَAnd Firaunذِیowner ofالْاَوْتَادِ۪ۙstakes
(89:10) And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? -
الَّذِیْنَWhoطَغَوْاtransgressedفِیinالْبِلَادِ۪ۙthe lands
(89:11) [All of] whom oppressed within the lands
فَاَكْثَرُوْاAnd made muchفِیْهَاthereinالْفَسَادَ۪ۙcorruption
(89:12) And increased therein the corruption.
فَصَبَّSo pouredعَلَیْهِمْon themرَبُّكَyour Lordسَوْطَscourgeعَذَابٍۚۙ(of) punishment
(89:13) So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.
اِنَّIndeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَبِالْمِرْصَادِؕ(is) surely Ever Watchful
(89:14) Indeed, your Lord is in observation.
فَاَمَّاAnd as forالْاِنْسَانُmanاِذَاwhenمَاdoesابْتَلٰىهُtry himرَبُّهٗhis Lordفَاَكْرَمَهٗand is generous to himوَ نَعَّمَهٗ ۙ۬and favors himفَیَقُوْلُhe saysرَبِّیْۤMy Lordاَكْرَمَنِؕhas honored me
(89:15) And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, "My Lord has honored me."
وَ اَمَّاۤButاِذَاwhenمَاdoesابْتَلٰىهُHe try himفَقَدَرَand restrictsعَلَیْهِfor himرِزْقَهٗ ۙ۬his provisionفَیَقُوْلُthen he saysرَبِّیْۤMy Lordاَهَانَنِۚ(has) humiliated me
(89:16) But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, "My Lord has humiliated me."
كَلَّاNay!بَلْButلَّاnotتُكْرِمُوْنَyou honorالْیَتِیْمَۙthe orphan
(89:17) No! But you do not honor the orphan
وَ لَاAnd notتَحٰٓضُّوْنَyou feel the urgeعَلٰیtoطَعَامِfeedالْمِسْكِیْنِۙthe poor
(89:18) And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.
وَ تَاْكُلُوْنَAnd you consumeالتُّرَاثَthe inheritanceاَكْلًاdevouringلَّمًّاۙaltogether
(89:19) And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,
وَّ تُحِبُّوْنَAnd you loveالْمَالَwealthحُبًّا(with) loveجَمًّاؕexceeding
(89:20) And you love wealth with immense love.
كَلَّاۤNayاِذَاWhenدُكَّتِis leveledالْاَرْضُthe earthدَكًّاpoundedدَكًّاۙ(and) crushed
(89:21) No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed -
وَّ جَآءَAnd comesرَبُّكَyour Lordوَ الْمَلَكُand the Angelsصَفًّاrankصَفًّاۚ(upon) rank
(89:22) And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,
وَ جِایْٓءَAnd is broughtیَوْمَىِٕذٍۭthat Dayبِجَهَنَّمَ ۙ۬HellیَوْمَىِٕذٍThat Dayیَّتَذَكَّرُwill rememberالْاِنْسَانُmanوَ اَنّٰیbut howلَهُ(will be) for himالذِّكْرٰیؕthe remembrance
(89:23) And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?
89. Al-Fajr Page 594یَقُوْلُHe will sayیٰلَیْتَنِیْO! I wishقَدَّمْتُI had sent forthلِحَیَاتِیْۚfor my life
(89:24) He will say, "Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life."
فَیَوْمَىِٕذٍSo that Dayلَّاnotیُعَذِّبُwill punishعَذَابَهٗۤ(as) His punishmentاَحَدٌۙanyone
(89:25) So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,
وَّ لَاAnd notیُوْثِقُwill bindوَ ثَاقَهٗۤ(as) His bindingاَحَدٌؕanyone
(89:26) And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].
یٰۤاَیَّتُهَاOالنَّفْسُsoulالْمُطْمَىِٕنَّةُۗۖwho is satisfied
(89:27) [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul,
ارْجِعِیْۤReturnاِلٰیtoرَبِّكِyour Lordرَاضِیَةًwell pleasedمَّرْضِیَّةًۚand pleasing
(89:28) Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],
فَادْخُلِیْSo enterفِیْamongعِبٰدِیْۙMy slaves
(89:29) And enter among My [righteous] servants
وَ ادْخُلِیْAnd enterجَنَّتِیْ۠My Paradise
(89:30) And enter My Paradise."
90. Al-Baladبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِلَاۤNay!اُقْسِمُI swearبِهٰذَاby thisالْبَلَدِۙcity
(90:1) I swear by this city, Makkah -
وَ اَنْتَAnd youحِلٌّۢ(are) free (to dwell)بِهٰذَاin thisالْبَلَدِۙcity
(90:2) And you, [O Muhammad], are free of restriction in this city -
وَ وَالِدٍAnd the begetterوَّ مَاand whatوَلَدَۙhe begot
(90:3) And [by] the father and that which was born [of him],
لَقَدْCertainlyخَلَقْنَاWe have createdالْاِنْسَانَmanفِیْ(to be) inكَبَدٍؕhardship
(90:4) We have certainly created man into hardship.
اَیَحْسَبُDoes he thinkاَنْthatلَّنْnotیَّقْدِرَhas powerعَلَیْهِover himاَحَدٌۘanyone
(90:5) Does he think that never will anyone overcome him?
یَقُوْلُHe will sayاَهْلَكْتُI have squanderedمَالًاwealthلُّبَدًاؕabundant
(90:6) He says, "I have spent wealth in abundance."
اَیَحْسَبُDoes he thinkاَنْthatلَّمْnotیَرَهٗۤsees himاَحَدٌؕanyone
(90:7) Does he think that no one has seen him?
اَلَمْHave notنَجْعَلْWe madeلَّهٗfor himعَیْنَیْنِۙtwo eyes
(90:8) Have We not made for him two eyes?
وَ لِسَانًاAnd a tongueوَّ شَفَتَیْنِۙand two lips
(90:9) And a tongue and two lips?
وَ هَدَیْنٰهُAnd shown himالنَّجْدَیْنِۚthe two ways
(90:10) And have shown him the two ways?
فَلَاBut notاقْتَحَمَhe has attemptedالْعَقَبَةَؗۖthe steep path
(90:11) But he has not broken through the difficult pass.
وَ مَاۤAnd whatاَدْرٰىكَcan make you knowمَاwhatالْعَقَبَةُؕthe steep path is
(90:12) And what can make you know what is [breaking through] the difficult pass?
فَكُّ(It is) freeingرَقَبَةٍۙa neck
(90:13) It is the freeing of a slave
اَوْOrاِطْعٰمٌfeedingفِیْinیَوْمٍa dayذِیْofمَسْغَبَةٍۙsevere hunger
(90:14) Or feeding on a day of severe hunger
یَّتِیْمًاAn orphanذَاofمَقْرَبَةٍۙnear relationship
(90:15) An orphan of near relationship
اَوْOrمِسْكِیْنًاa needy personذَاinمَتْرَبَةٍؕmisery
(90:16) Or a needy person in misery
ثُمَّThenكَانَhe isمِنَofالَّذِیْنَthose whoاٰمَنُوْاbelieveوَ تَوَاصَوْاand enjoin each otherبِالصَّبْرِto patienceوَ تَوَاصَوْاand enjoin each otherبِالْمَرْحَمَةِؕto compassion
(90:17) And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion.
اُولٰٓىِٕكَThoseاَصْحٰبُ(are the) companionsالْمَیْمَنَةِؕ(of) the right hand
(90:18) Those are the companions of the right.
وَ الَّذِیْنَBut those whoكَفَرُوْاdisbelieveبِاٰیٰتِنَاin Our Versesهُمْtheyاَصْحٰبُ(are the) companionsالْمَشْـَٔمَةِؕ(of) the left hand
(90:19) But they who disbelieved in Our signs - those are the companions of the left.
عَلَیْهِمْOver themنَارٌ(will be the) Fireمُّؤْصَدَةٌ۠closed in
(90:20) Over them will be fire closed in.
91. Ash-Shams Page 59591. Ash-Shamsبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِوَ الشَّمْسِBy the sunوَ ضُحٰىهَا۪ۙand its brightness
(91:1) By the sun and its brightness
وَ الْقَمَرِAnd the moonاِذَاwhenتَلٰىهَا۪ۙit follows it
(91:2) And [by] the moon when it follows it
وَ النَّهَارِAnd the dayاِذَاwhenجَلّٰىهَا۪ۙit displays it
(91:3) And [by] the day when it displays it
وَ الَّیْلِAnd the nightاِذَاwhenیَغْشٰىهَا۪ۙit covers it
(91:4) And [by] the night when it covers it
وَ السَّمَآءِAnd the heavenوَ مَاand He Whoبَنٰىهَا۪ۙconstructed it
(91:5) And [by] the sky and He who constructed it
وَ الْاَرْضِAnd the earthوَ مَاand He Whoطَحٰىهَا۪ۙspread it
(91:6) And [by] the earth and He who spread it
وَ نَفْسٍAnd (the) soulوَّ مَاand He Whoسَوّٰىهَا۪ۙproportioned it
(91:7) And [by] the soul and He who proportioned it
فَاَلْهَمَهَاAnd He inspired itفُجُوْرَهَا(to understand) what is wrong for itوَ تَقْوٰىهَا۪ۙand what is right for it
(91:8) And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness,
قَدْIndeedاَفْلَحَhe succeedsمَنْwhoزَكّٰىهَا۪ۙpurifies it
(91:9) He has succeeded who purifies it,
وَ قَدْAnd indeedخَابَhe failsمَنْwhoدَسّٰىهَاؕcorrupts it
(91:10) And he has failed who instills it [with corruption].
كَذَّبَتْDeniedثَمُوْدُThamudبِطَغْوٰىهَاۤby their transgression
(91:11) Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression,
اِذِWhenانْۢبَعَثَ(was) sent forthاَشْقٰىهَا۪ۙ(the) most wicked of them
(91:12) When the most wretched of them was sent forth.
فَقَالَBut saidلَهُمْto themرَسُوْلُ(the) Messengerاللّٰهِ(of) Allahنَاقَةَ(It is the) she-camelاللّٰهِ(of) Allahوَ سُقْیٰهَاؕand her drink
(91:13) And the messenger of Allah [Salih] said to them, "[Do not harm] the she-camel of Allah or [prevent her from] her drink."
فَكَذَّبُوْهُBut they denied himفَعَقَرُوْهَا ۪ۙ۬and they hamstrung herفَدَمْدَمَSo destroyedعَلَیْهِمْthemرَبُّهُمْtheir Lordبِذَنْۢبِهِمْfor their sinفَسَوّٰىهَا۪ۙand leveled them
(91:14) But they denied him and hamstrung her. So their Lord brought down upon them destruction for their sin and made it equal [upon all of them].
وَ لَاAnd notیَخَافُHe fearsعُقْبٰهَا۠its consequences
(91:15) And He does not fear the consequence thereof.
92. Al-Laylبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِوَ الَّیْلِBy the nightاِذَاwhenیَغْشٰیۙit covers
(92:1) By the night when it covers
وَ النَّهَارِAnd the dayاِذَاwhenتَجَلّٰیۙit shines in brightness
(92:2) And [by] the day when it appears
وَ مَاAnd He Whoخَلَقَcreatedالذَّكَرَthe maleوَ الْاُنْثٰۤیۙand the female
(92:3) And [by] He who created the male and female,
اِنَّIndeedسَعْیَكُمْyour effortsلَشَتّٰیؕ(are) surely diverse
(92:4) Indeed, your efforts are diverse.
فَاَمَّاThen as forمَنْ(him) whoاَعْطٰیgivesوَ اتَّقٰیۙand fears
(92:5) As for he who gives and fears Allah
وَ صَدَّقَAnd believesبِالْحُسْنٰیۙin the best
(92:6) And believes in the best [reward],
فَسَنُیَسِّرُهٗThen We will ease himلِلْیُسْرٰیؕtowards [the] ease
(92:7) We will ease him toward ease.
وَ اَمَّاBut as forمَنْۢ(him) whoبَخِلَwithholdsوَ اسْتَغْنٰیۙand considers himself free from need
(92:8) But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need
وَ كَذَّبَAnd deniesبِالْحُسْنٰیۙthe best
(92:9) And denies the best [reward],
فَسَنُیَسِّرُهٗThen We will ease himلِلْعُسْرٰیؕtowards [the] difficulty
(92:10) We will ease him toward difficulty.
وَ مَاAnd notیُغْنِیْwill availعَنْهُhimمَالُهٗۤhis wealthاِذَاwhenتَرَدّٰیؕhe falls
(92:11) And what will his wealth avail him when he falls?
اِنَّIndeedعَلَیْنَاupon Usلَلْهُدٰیؗۖ(is) the guidance
(92:12) Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance.
وَ اِنَّAnd indeedلَنَاfor Usلَلْاٰخِرَةَ(is) the Hereafterوَ الْاُوْلٰی and the first (life)
(92:13) And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life].
فَاَنْذَرْتُكُمْSo I warn youنَارًا(of) a Fireتَلَظّٰیۚblazing
(92:14) So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing.
92. Al-Layl Page 596لَاNotیَصْلٰىهَاۤwill burn (in) itاِلَّاexceptالْاَشْقَیۙthe most wretched
(92:15) None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one.
الَّذِیْThe one whoكَذَّبَdeniedوَ تَوَلّٰیؕand turned away
(92:16) Who had denied and turned away.
وَ سَیُجَنَّبُهَاBut will be removed from itالْاَتْقَیۙthe righteous
(92:17) But the righteous one will avoid it -
الَّذِیْThe one whoیُؤْتِیْgivesمَالَهٗhis wealthیَتَزَكّٰیۚpurifying himself
(92:18) [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself
وَ مَاAnd notلِاَحَدٍfor anyoneعِنْدَهٗwith himمِنْanyنِّعْمَةٍfavorتُجْزٰۤیۙto be recompensed
(92:19) And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded
اِلَّاExceptابْتِغَآءَseekingوَجْهِ(the) Countenanceرَبِّهِ(of) his Lordالْاَعْلٰیۚthe Most High
(92:20) But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High.
وَ لَسَوْفَAnd soon surelyیَرْضٰی۠he will be pleased
(92:21) And he is going to be satisfied.
93. Ad-Duhaaبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِوَ الضُّحٰیۙBy the morning brightness
(93:1) By the morning brightness
وَ الَّیْلِAnd the nightاِذَاwhenسَجٰیۙit covers with darkness
(93:2) And [by] the night when it covers with darkness,
مَاNotوَدَّعَكَhas forsaken youرَبُّكَyour Lordوَ مَاand notقَلٰیؕHe is displeased
(93:3) Your Lord has not taken leave of you, [O Muhammad], nor has He detested [you].
وَ لَلْاٰخِرَةُAnd surely the Hereafterخَیْرٌ(is) betterلَّكَfor youمِنَthanالْاُوْلٰیؕthe first
(93:4) And the Hereafter is better for you than the first [life].
وَ لَسَوْفَAnd soonیُعْطِیْكَwill give youرَبُّكَyour Lordفَتَرْضٰیؕthen you will be satisfied
(93:5) And your Lord is going to give you, and you will be satisfied.
اَلَمْDid notیَجِدْكَHe find youیَتِیْمًاan orphanفَاٰوٰی۪and gave shelter
(93:6) Did He not find you an orphan and give [you] refuge?
وَ وَجَدَكَAnd He found youضَآلًّاlostفَهَدٰی۪so He guided
(93:7) And He found you lost and guided [you],
وَ وَجَدَكَAnd He found youعَآىِٕلًاin needفَاَغْنٰیؕso He made self-sufficient
(93:8) And He found you poor and made [you] self-sufficient.
فَاَمَّاSo as forالْیَتِیْمَthe orphanفَلَاthen (do) notتَقْهَرْؕoppress
(93:9) So as for the orphan, do not oppress [him].
وَ اَمَّاAnd as forالسَّآىِٕلَhim who asksفَلَاthen (do) notتَنْهَرْؕrepel
(93:10) And as for the petitioner, do not repel [him].
وَ اَمَّاBut as forبِنِعْمَةِ(the) Favorرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordفَحَدِّثْ۠narrate
(93:11) But as for the favor of your Lord, report [it].
94. Ash-Sharhبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِاَلَمْHave notنَشْرَحْWe expandedلَكَfor youصَدْرَكَۙyour breast
(94:1) Did We not expand for you, [O Muhammad], your breast?
وَ وَضَعْنَاAnd We removedعَنْكَfrom youوِزْرَكَۙyour burden
(94:2) And We removed from you your burden
الَّذِیْۤWhichاَنْقَضَweighed uponظَهْرَكَۙyour back
(94:3) Which had weighed upon your back
وَ رَفَعْنَاAnd We raised highلَكَfor youذِكْرَكَؕyour esteem
(94:4) And raised high for you your repute.
فَاِنَّSo indeedمَعَwithالْعُسْرِthe hardshipیُسْرًاۙ(is) ease
(94:5) For indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
اِنَّIndeedمَعَwithالْعُسْرِthe hardshipیُسْرًاؕ(is) ease
(94:6) Indeed, with hardship [will be] ease.
فَاِذَاSo whenفَرَغْتَyou are freeفَانْصَبْۙthen stand up
(94:7) So when you have finished [your duties], then stand up [for worship].
وَ اِلٰیAnd toرَبِّكَyour Lordفَارْغَبْ۠turn your attention
(94:8) And to your Lord direct [your] longing.
95. At-Tin Page 59795. At-Tinبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِوَ التِّیْنِBy the figوَ الزَّیْتُوْنِۙand the olive
(95:1) By the fig and the olive
وَ طُوْرِAnd (the) MountسِیْنِیْنَۙSinai
(95:2) And [by] Mount Sinai
وَ هٰذَاAnd thisالْبَلَدِ[the] cityالْاَمِیْنِۙ[the] secure
(95:3) And [by] this secure city [Makkah],
لَقَدْIndeedخَلَقْنَاWe createdالْاِنْسَانَmanفِیْۤinاَحْسَنِ(the) bestتَقْوِیْمٍؗmould
(95:4) We have certainly created man in the best of stature;
ثُمَّThenرَدَدْنٰهُWe return himاَسْفَلَ(to the) lowestسٰفِلِیْنَۙ(of the) low
(95:5) Then We return him to the lowest of the low,
اِلَّاExceptالَّذِیْنَthose whoاٰمَنُوْاbelieveوَ عَمِلُواand doالصّٰلِحٰتِrighteous deedsفَلَهُمْthen for themاَجْرٌ(is a) rewardغَیْرُneverمَمْنُوْنٍؕending
(95:6) Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds, for they will have a reward uninterrupted.
فَمَاThen whatیُكَذِّبُكَcauses you to denyبَعْدُafter (this)بِالدِّیْنِؕthe judgment
(95:7) So what yet causes you to deny the Recompense?
اَلَیْسَIs notاللّٰهُAllahبِاَحْكَمِ(the) Most Justالْحٰكِمِیْنَ۠(of) the Judges
(95:8) Is not Allah the most just of judges?
96. Al-'Alaqبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِاِقْرَاْReadبِاسْمِin (the) nameرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordالَّذِیْthe One Whoخَلَقَۚcreated
(96:1) Recite in the name of your Lord who created -
خَلَقَHe createdالْاِنْسَانَmanمِنْfromعَلَقٍۚa clinging substance
(96:2) Created man from a clinging substance.
اِقْرَاْReadوَ رَبُّكَand your Lordالْاَكْرَمُۙ(is) the Most Generous
(96:3) Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous -
الَّذِیْThe One Whoعَلَّمَtaughtبِالْقَلَمِۙby the pen
(96:4) Who taught by the pen -
عَلَّمَTaughtالْاِنْسَانَmanمَاwhatلَمْnotیَعْلَمْؕhe knew
(96:5) Taught man that which he knew not.
كَلَّاۤNay!اِنَّIndeedالْاِنْسَانَmanلَیَطْغٰۤیۙsurely transgresses
(96:6) No! [But] indeed, man transgresses
اَنْBecauseرَّاٰهُhe sees himselfاسْتَغْنٰیؕself-sufficient
(96:7) Because he sees himself self-sufficient.
اِنَّIndeedاِلٰیtoرَبِّكَyour Lordالرُّجْعٰیؕ(is) the return
(96:8) Indeed, to your Lord is the return.
اَرَءَیْتَHave you seenالَّذِیْthe one whoیَنْهٰیۙforbids
(96:9) Have you seen the one who forbids
عَبْدًاA slaveاِذَاwhenصَلّٰیؕhe prays
(96:10) A servant when he prays?
اَرَءَیْتَHave you seenاِنْifكَانَhe isعَلَیuponالْهُدٰۤیۙ[the] guidance
(96:11) Have you seen if he is upon guidance
اَوْOrاَمَرَhe enjoinsبِالتَّقْوٰیؕ[of the] righteousness
(96:12) Or enjoins righteousness?
اَرَءَیْتَHave you seenاِنْifكَذَّبَhe deniesوَ تَوَلّٰیؕand turns away
(96:13) Have you seen if he denies and turns away -
اَلَمْDoes notیَعْلَمْhe knowبِاَنَّthatاللّٰهَAllahیَرٰیؕsees
(96:14) Does he not know that Allah sees?
كَلَّاNay!لَىِٕنْIfلَّمْnotیَنْتَهِ ۙ۬he desistsلَنَسْفَعًۢاsurely We will drag himبِالنَّاصِیَةِۙby the forelock
(96:15) No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock -
نَاصِیَةٍA forelockكَاذِبَةٍlyingخَاطِئَةٍۚsinful
(96:16) A lying, sinning forelock.
فَلْیَدْعُThen let him callنَادِیَهٗۙhis associates
(96:17) Then let him call his associates;
سَنَدْعُWe will callالزَّبَانِیَةَۙthe Angels of Hell
(96:18) We will call the angels of Hell.
كَلَّا ؕNay!لَا(Do) notتُطِعْهُobey himوَ اسْجُدْBut prostrateوَ اقْتَرِبْ۠۩and draw near (to Allah)
(96:19) No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah].
97. Al-Qadr Page 59897. Al-Qadrبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِاِنَّاۤIndeed Weاَنْزَلْنٰهُrevealed itفِیْinلَیْلَةِ(the) Nightالْقَدْرِۚۖ(of) Power
(97:1) Indeed, We sent the Qur'an down during the Night of Decree.
وَ مَاۤAnd whatاَدْرٰىكَcan make you knowمَاwhatلَیْلَةُ(the) Nightالْقَدْرِؕ(of) Power (is)
(97:2) And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree?
لَیْلَةُ(The) Nightالْقَدْرِ ۙ۬(of) Powerخَیْرٌ(is) betterمِّنْthanاَلْفِa thousandشَهْرٍؕؔmonth(s)
(97:3) The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months.
تَنَزَّلُDescendالْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُthe Angelsوَ الرُّوْحُand the Spiritفِیْهَاthereinبِاِذْنِby (the) permissionرَبِّهِمْ ۚ(of) their Lordمِنْforكُلِّeveryاَمْرٍۙۛaffair
(97:4) The angels and the Spirit descend therein by permission of their Lord for every matter.
سَلٰمٌ ۛ۫Peaceهِیَit (is)حَتّٰیuntilمَطْلَعِ(the) emergenceالْفَجْرِ۠(of) the dawn
(97:5) Peace it is until the emergence of dawn.
98. Al-Bayyinahبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِلَمْNotیَكُنِwereالَّذِیْنَthose whoكَفَرُوْاdisbelievedمِنْfromاَهْلِ(the) Peopleالْكِتٰبِof the Bookوَ الْمُشْرِكِیْنَand the polytheistsمُنْفَكِّیْنَto be abandonedحَتّٰیuntilتَاْتِیَهُمُ(there) comes to themالْبَیِّنَةُۙthe clear evidence
(98:1) Those who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists were not to be parted [from misbelief] until there came to them clear evidence -
رَسُوْلٌA MessengerمِّنَfromاللّٰهِAllahیَتْلُوْاrecitingصُحُفًاpagesمُّطَهَّرَةًۙpurified
(98:2) A Messenger from Allah, reciting purified scriptures
فِیْهَاWhereinكُتُبٌ(are) writingsقَیِّمَةٌؕcorrect
(98:3) Within which are correct writings.
وَ مَاAnd notتَفَرَّقَbecame dividedالَّذِیْنَthose whoاُوْتُواwere givenالْكِتٰبَthe Bookاِلَّاuntilمِنْۢfromبَعْدِafterمَاwhatجَآءَتْهُمُcame (to) themالْبَیِّنَةُؕ(of) the clear evidence
(98:4) Nor did those who were given the Scripture become divided until after there had come to them clear evidence.
وَ مَاۤAnd notاُمِرُوْۤاthey were commandedاِلَّاexceptلِیَعْبُدُواto worshipاللّٰهَAllahمُخْلِصِیْنَ(being) sincereلَهُto Himالدِّیْنَ ۙ۬(in) the religionحُنَفَآءَuprightوَ یُقِیْمُواand to establishالصَّلٰوةَthe prayerوَ یُؤْتُواand to giveالزَّكٰوةَthe Zakahوَ ذٰلِكَAnd thatدِیْنُ(is the) religionالْقَیِّمَةِؕthe correct
(98:5) And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give zakah. And that is the correct religion.
اِنَّIndeedالَّذِیْنَthose whoكَفَرُوْاdisbelieveمِنْfromاَهْلِ(the) Peopleالْكِتٰبِ(of) the Bookوَ الْمُشْرِكِیْنَand the polytheistsفِیْ(will be) inنَارِ(the) Fireجَهَنَّمَ(of) Hellخٰلِدِیْنَabiding eternallyفِیْهَا ؕthereinاُولٰٓىِٕكَThoseهُمْtheyشَرُّ(are the) worstالْبَرِیَّةِؕ(of) the creatures
(98:6) Indeed, they who disbelieved among the People of the Scripture and the polytheists will be in the fire of Hell, abiding eternally therein. Those are the worst of creatures.
اِنَّIndeedالَّذِیْنَthose whoاٰمَنُوْاbelieveوَ عَمِلُواand doالصّٰلِحٰتِ ۙrighteous deedsاُولٰٓىِٕكَthoseهُمْtheyخَیْرُ(are the) bestالْبَرِیَّةِؕ(of) the creatures
(98:7) Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds - those are the best of creatures.
98. Al-Bayyinah Page 599جَزَآؤُهُمْTheir rewardعِنْدَ(is) withرَبِّهِمْtheir LordجَنّٰتُGardensعَدْنٍ(of) Eternityتَجْرِیْflowمِنْfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath themالْاَنْهٰرُthe riversخٰلِدِیْنَwill abideفِیْهَاۤthereinاَبَدًا ؕforeverرَضِیَ(will be) pleasedاللّٰهُAllahعَنْهُمْwith themوَ رَضُوْاand they (will be) pleasedعَنْهُ ؕwith HimذٰلِكَThatلِمَنْ(is) for whoeverخَشِیَfearedرَبَّهٗ۠his Lord
(98:8) Their reward with Allah will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever, Allah being pleased with them and they with Him. That is for whoever has feared his Lord.
99. Az-Zalzalahبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِاِذَاWhenزُلْزِلَتِis shakenالْاَرْضُthe earthزِلْزَالَهَاۙwith its earthquake
(99:1) When the earth is shaken with its [final] earthquake
وَ اَخْرَجَتِAnd brings forthالْاَرْضُthe earthاَثْقَالَهَاۙits burdens
(99:2) And the earth discharges its burdens
وَ قَالَAnd saysالْاِنْسَانُmanمَاWhatلَهَاۚ(is) with it
(99:3) And man says, "What is [wrong] with it?" -
یَوْمَىِٕذٍThat Dayتُحَدِّثُit will reportاَخْبَارَهَاۙits news
(99:4) That Day, it will report its news
بِاَنَّBecauseرَبَّكَyour Lordاَوْحٰیinspiredلَهَاؕ[to] it
(99:5) Because your Lord has commanded it.
یَوْمَىِٕذٍThat Dayیَّصْدُرُwill proceedالنَّاسُthe mankindاَشْتَاتًا ۙ۬(in) scattered groupsلِّیُرَوْاto be shownاَعْمَالَهُمْؕtheir deeds
(99:6) That Day, the people will depart separated [into categories] to be shown [the result of] their deeds.
فَمَنْSo whoeverیَّعْمَلْdoesمِثْقَالَ(equal to the) weightذَرَّةٍ(of) an atomخَیْرًاgoodیَّرَهٗؕwill see it
(99:7) So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it,
وَ مَنْAnd whoeverیَّعْمَلْdoesمِثْقَالَ(equal to the) weightذَرَّةٍ(of) an atomشَرًّاevilیَّرَهٗ۠will see it
(99:8) And whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it.
100. Al-'Adiyatبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِوَ الْعٰدِیٰتِBy the racersضَبْحًاۙpanting
(100:1) By the racers, panting,
فَالْمُوْرِیٰتِAnd the producers of sparksقَدْحًاۙstriking
(100:2) And the producers of sparks [when] striking
فَالْمُغِیْرٰتِAnd the chargersصُبْحًاۙ(at) dawn
(100:3) And the chargers at dawn,
فَاَثَرْنَThen raiseبِهٖtherebyنَقْعًاۙdust
(100:4) Stirring up thereby [clouds of] dust,
فَوَسَطْنَThen penetrate (in the) centerبِهٖtherebyجَمْعًاۙ(of) troops
(100:5) Arriving thereby in the center collectively,
اِنَّIndeedالْاِنْسَانَmankindلِرَبِّهٖto his Lordلَكَنُوْدٌۚ(is) surely ungrateful
(100:6) Indeed mankind, to his Lord, is ungrateful.
وَ اِنَّهٗAnd indeed heعَلٰیtoذٰلِكَthatلَشَهِیْدٌۚsurely (is) a witness
(100:7) And indeed, he is to that a witness.
وَ اِنَّهٗAnd indeed he (is)لِحُبِّin (the) loveالْخَیْرِ(of) wealthلَشَدِیْدٌؕ(is) surely intense
(100:8) And indeed he is, in love of wealth, intense.
اَفَلَاBut does notیَعْلَمُhe knowاِذَاwhenبُعْثِرَwill be scatteredمَاwhatفِی(is) inالْقُبُوْرِۙthe graves
(100:9) But does he not know that when the contents of the graves are scattered
100. Al-'Adiyat Page 600وَ حُصِّلَAnd is made apparentمَاwhatفِی(is) inالصُّدُوْرِۙthe breasts
(100:10) And that within the breasts is obtained,
اِنَّIndeedرَبَّهُمْtheir Lordبِهِمْabout themیَوْمَىِٕذٍthat Dayلَّخَبِیْرٌ۠(is) surely All-Aware
(100:11) Indeed, their Lord with them, that Day, is [fully] Acquainted.
101. Al-Qari'ahبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِاَلْقَارِعَةُۙThe Striking Calamity!
(101:1) The Striking Calamity -
مَاWhatالْقَارِعَةُۚ(is) the Striking Calamity
(101:2) What is the Striking Calamity?
وَ مَاۤAnd whatاَدْرٰىكَwill make you knowمَاwhatالْقَارِعَةُؕ(is) the Striking Calamity
(101:3) And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity?
یَوْمَ(The) Dayیَكُوْنُwill beالنَّاسُthe mankindكَالْفَرَاشِlike mothsالْمَبْثُوْثِۙscattered
(101:4) It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed,
وَ تَكُوْنُAnd will beالْجِبَالُthe mountainsكَالْعِهْنِlike woolالْمَنْفُوْشِؕfluffed up
(101:5) And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up.
فَاَمَّاThen as forمَنْ(him) whoseثَقُلَتْare heavyمَوَازِیْنُهٗۙhis scales
(101:6) Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds],
فَهُوَThen heفِیْ(will be) inعِیْشَةٍa lifeرَّاضِیَةٍؕpleasant
(101:7) He will be in a pleasant life.
وَ اَمَّاBut as forمَنْ(him) whoseخَفَّتْare lightمَوَازِیْنُهٗۙhis scales
(101:8) But as for one whose scales are light,
فَاُمُّهٗHis abodeهَاوِیَةٌؕ(will be the) Pit
(101:9) His refuge will be an abyss.
وَ مَاۤAnd whatاَدْرٰىكَwill make you knowمَاwhatهِیَهْؕit is
(101:10) And what can make you know what that is?
نَارٌA Fireحَامِیَةٌ۠intensely hot
(101:11) It is a Fire, intensely hot.
102. At-Takathurبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِاَلْهٰىكُمُDiverts youالتَّكَاثُرُۙthe competition to increase
(102:1) Competition in [worldly] increase diverts you
حَتّٰیUntilزُرْتُمُyou visitالْمَقَابِرَؕthe graves
(102:2) Until you visit the graveyards.
كَلَّاNay!سَوْفَSoonتَعْلَمُوْنَۙyou will know
(102:3) No! You are going to know.
ثُمَّThenكَلَّاnay!سَوْفَSoonتَعْلَمُوْنَؕyou will know
(102:4) Then no! You are going to know.
كَلَّاNay!لَوْIfتَعْلَمُوْنَyou knowعِلْمَ(with) a knowledgeالْیَقِیْنِؕ(of) certainty
(102:5) No! If you only knew with knowledge of certainty...
لَتَرَوُنَّSurely you will seeالْجَحِیْمَۙthe Hellfire
(102:6) You will surely see the Hellfire.
ثُمَّThenلَتَرَوُنَّهَاsurely you will see itعَیْنَ(with the) eyeالْیَقِیْۙنِ(of) certainty
(102:7) Then you will surely see it with the eye of certainty.
ثُمَّThenلَتُسْـَٔلُنَّsurely you will be askedیَوْمَىِٕذٍthat Dayعَنِaboutالنَّعِیْمِ۠the pleasures
(102:8) Then you will surely be asked that Day about pleasure.
103. Al-'Asr Page 601103. Al-'Asrبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِوَ الْعَصْرِۙBy the time
(103:1) By time,
اِنَّIndeedالْاِنْسَانَmankindلَفِیْ(is) surely inخُسْرٍۙloss
(103:2) Indeed, mankind is in loss,
اِلَّاExceptالَّذِیْنَthose whoاٰمَنُوْاbelieveوَ عَمِلُواand doالصّٰلِحٰتِrighteous deedsوَ تَوَاصَوْاand enjoin each otherبِالْحَقِّ ۙ۬to the truthوَ تَوَاصَوْاand enjoin each otherبِالصَّبْ۠رِto [the] patience
(103:3) Except for those who have believed and done righteous deeds and advised each other to truth and advised each other to patience.
104. Al-Humazahبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِوَیْلٌWoeلِّكُلِّto everyهُمَزَةٍslandererلُّمَزَةِۙbackbiter!
(104:1) Woe to every scorner and mocker
لَّذِیْThe one whoجَمَعَcollectsمَالًاwealthوَّ عَدَّدَهٗۙand counts it
(104:2) Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it.
یَحْسَبُThinkingاَنَّthatمَالَهٗۤhis wealthاَخْلَدَهٗۚwill make him immortal
(104:3) He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal.
كَلَّاNay!لَیُنْۢبَذَنَّSurely he will be thrownفِیinالْحُطَمَةِؗۖthe Crusher
(104:4) No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher.
وَ مَاۤAnd whatاَدْرٰىكَwill make you knowمَاwhatالْحُطَمَةُؕthe Crusher (is)
(104:5) And what can make you know what is the Crusher?
نَارُA FireاللّٰهِAllahالْمُوْقَدَةُۙkindled
(104:6) It is the fire of Allah, [eternally] fueled,
الَّتِیْWhichتَطَّلِعُmounts upعَلَیtoالْاَفْـِٕدَةِؕthe hearts
(104:7) Which mounts directed at the hearts.
اِنَّهَاIndeed itعَلَیْهِمْ(will be) upon themمُّؤْصَدَةٌۙclosed over
(104:8) Indeed, Hellfire will be closed down upon them
فِیْInعَمَدٍcolumnsمُّمَدَّدَةٍ۠extended
(104:9) In extended columns.
105. Al-Filبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِاَلَمْHave notتَرَyou seenكَیْفَhowفَعَلَdealtرَبُّكَyour Lordبِاَصْحٰبِwith (the) Companionsالْفِیْلِؕ(of the) Elephant
(105:1) Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?
اَلَمْDid notیَجْعَلْHe makeكَیْدَهُمْtheir planفِیْgoتَضْلِیْلٍۙastray
(105:2) Did He not make their plan into misguidance?
وَّ اَرْسَلَAnd He sentعَلَیْهِمْagainst themطَیْرًاbirdsاَبَابِیْلَۙ(in) flocks
(105:3) And He sent against them birds in flocks,
تَرْمِیْهِمْStriking themبِحِجَارَةٍwith stonesمِّنْofسِجِّیْلٍ۪ۙbaked clay
(105:4) Striking them with stones of hard clay,
فَجَعَلَهُمْThen He made themكَعَصْفٍlike strawمَّاْكُوْلٍ۠eaten up
(105:5) And He made them like eaten straw.
106. Quraysh Page 602106. Qurayshبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِلِاِیْلٰفِFor (the) familiarityقُرَیْشٍۙ(of the) Quraish
(106:1) For the accustomed security of the Quraysh -
اٖلٰفِهِمْTheir familiarityرِحْلَةَ(with the) journeyالشِّتَآءِ(of) winterوَ الصَّیْفِۚand summer
(106:2) Their accustomed security [in] the caravan of winter and summer -
فَلْیَعْبُدُوْاSo let them worshipرَبَّ(the) Lordهٰذَا(of) thisالْبَیْتِۙHouse
(106:3) Let them worship the Lord of this House,
الَّذِیْۤThe One Whoاَطْعَمَهُمْfeeds themمِّنْagainstجُوْعٍ ۙ۬hungerوَّ اٰمَنَهُمْand gives them securityمِّنْagainstخَوْفٍ۠fear
(106:4) Who has fed them, [saving them] from hunger and made them safe, [saving them] from fear.
107. Al-Ma'unبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِاَرَءَیْتَHave you seenالَّذِیْthe one whoیُكَذِّبُdeniesبِالدِّیْنِؕthe Judgment
(107:1) Have you seen the one who denies the Recompense?
فَذٰلِكَThen thatالَّذِیْ(is) the one whoیَدُعُّrepulsesالْیَتِیْمَۙthe orphan
(107:2) For that is the one who drives away the orphan
وَ لَاAnd (does) notیَحُضُّfeel the urgeعَلٰیtoطَعَامِfeedالْمِسْكِیْنِؕthe poor
(107:3) And does not encourage the feeding of the poor.
فَوَیْلٌSo woeلِّلْمُصَلِّیْنَۙto those who pray
(107:4) So woe to those who pray
الَّذِیْنَThose whoهُمْ[they]عَنْofصَلَاتِهِمْtheir prayersسَاهُوْنَۙ(are) neglectful
(107:5) [But] who are heedless of their prayer -
الَّذِیْنَThose whoهُمْ[they]یُرَآءُوْنَۙmake show
(107:6) Those who make show [of their deeds]
وَ یَمْنَعُوْنَAnd they denyالْمَاعُوْنَ۠[the] small kindness
(107:7) And withhold [simple] assistance.
108. Al-Kawtharبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِاِنَّاۤIndeed, Weاَعْطَیْنٰكَhave given youالْكَوْثَرَؕAl-Kauthar
(108:1) Indeed, We have granted you, [O Muhammad], al-Kawthar.
فَصَلِّSo prayلِرَبِّكَto your Lordوَ انْحَرْؕand sacrifice
(108:2) So pray to your Lord and sacrifice [to Him alone].
اِنَّIndeedشَانِئَكَyour enemyهُوَhe (is)الْاَبْتَرُ۠the one cut off
(108:3) Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off.
109. Al-Kafirun Page 603109. Al-Kafirunبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِقُلْSayیٰۤاَیُّهَاOالْكٰفِرُوْنَۙdisbelievers
(109:1) Say, "O disbelievers,
لَاۤNotاَعْبُدُI worshipمَاwhatتَعْبُدُوْنَۙyou worship
(109:2) I do not worship what you worship.
وَ لَاۤAnd notاَنْتُمْyouعٰبِدُوْنَ(are) worshippersمَاۤ(of) whatاَعْبُدُۚI worship
(109:3) Nor are you worshippers of what I worship.
وَ لَاۤAnd notاَنَاI amعَابِدٌa worshipperمَّا(of) whatعَبَدْتُّمْۙyou worship
(109:4) Nor will I be a worshipper of what you worship.
وَ لَاۤAnd notاَنْتُمْyou areعٰبِدُوْنَworshippersمَاۤ(of) whatاَعْبُدُؕI worship
(109:5) Nor will you be worshippers of what I worship.
لَكُمْFor youدِیْنُكُمْ(is) your religionوَ لِیَand for meدِیْنِ۠(is) my religion
(109:6) For you is your religion, and for me is my religion."
110. An-Nasrبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِاِذَاWhenجَآءَcomesنَصْرُ(the) Helpاللّٰهِ(of) Allahوَ الْفَتْحُۙand the Victory
(110:1) When the victory of Allah has come and the conquest,
وَ رَاَیْتَAnd you seeالنَّاسَthe peopleیَدْخُلُوْنَenteringفِیْintoدِیْنِ(the) religionاللّٰهِ(of) Allahاَفْوَاجًاۙ(in) multitudes
(110:2) And you see the people entering into the religion of Allah in multitudes,
فَسَبِّحْThen glorifyبِحَمْدِ(the) praisesرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordوَ اسْتَغْفِرْهُ ؔؕand ask His forgivenessاِنَّهٗIndeed Heكَانَisتَوَّابًا۠Oft-Returning
(110:3) Then exalt [Him] with praise of your Lord and ask forgiveness of Him. Indeed, He is ever Accepting of repentance.
111. Al-Masadبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِتَبَّتْPerishیَدَاۤ(the) handsاَبِیْ(of) AbuلَهَبٍLahabوَّ تَبَّؕand perish he
(111:1) May the hands of Abu Lahab be ruined, and ruined is he.
مَاۤNotاَغْنٰی(will) availعَنْهُhimمَالُهٗhis wealthوَ مَاand whatكَسَبَؕhe earned
(111:2) His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained.
سَیَصْلٰیHe will be burntنَارًا(in) a FireذَاتَofلَهَبٍۚۖBlazing Flames
(111:3) He will [enter to] burn in a Fire of [blazing] flame
وَّ امْرَاَتُهٗ ؕAnd his wifeحَمَّالَةَ(the) carrierالْحَطَبِۚ(of) firewood
(111:4) And his wife [as well] - the carrier of firewood.
فِیْAroundجِیْدِهَاher neckحَبْلٌ(will be) a ropeمِّنْofمَّسَدٍ۠palm-fiber
(111:5) Around her neck is a rope of [twisted] fiber.
112. Al-Ikhlas Page 604112. Al-Ikhlasبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِقُلْSayهُوَHeاللّٰهُ(is) Allahاَحَدٌۚthe One
(112:1) Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,
اَللّٰهُAllahالصَّمَدُۚthe Eternal the Absolute
(112:2) Allah, the Eternal Refuge.
لَمْNotیَلِدْ ۙ۬He begetsوَ لَمْand notیُوْلَدْۙHe is begotten
(112:3) He neither begets nor is born,
وَ لَمْAnd notیَكُنْisلَّهٗfor Himكُفُوًاequivalentاَحَدٌ۠any [one]
(112:4) Nor is there to Him any equivalent."
113. Al-Falaqبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِقُلْSayاَعُوْذُI seek refugeبِرَبِّin (the) Lordالْفَلَقِۙ(of) the dawn
(113:1) Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of daybreak
مِنْFromشَرِّ(the) evilمَا(of) whatخَلَقَۙHe created
(113:2) From the evil of that which He created
وَ مِنْAnd fromشَرِّ(the) evilغَاسِقٍ(of) darknessاِذَاwhenوَقَبَۙit settles
(113:3) And from the evil of darkness when it settles
وَ مِنْAnd fromشَرِّ(the) evilالنَّفّٰثٰتِ(of) the blowersفِیinالْعُقَدِۙthe knots
(113:4) And from the evil of the blowers in knots
وَ مِنْAnd fromشَرِّ(the) evilحَاسِدٍ(of) an envierاِذَاwhenحَسَدَ۠he envies
(113:5) And from the evil of an envier when he envies."
114. An-Nasبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِقُلْSayاَعُوْذُI seek refugeبِرَبِّin (the) Lordالنَّاسِۙ(of) mankind
(114:1) Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,
مَلِكِ(The) Kingالنَّاسِۙ(of) mankind
(114:2) The Sovereign of mankind.
اِلٰهِ(The) Godالنَّاسِۙ(of) mankind
(114:3) The God of mankind,
مِنْFromشَرِّ(the) evilالْوَسْوَاسِ ۙ۬(of) the whispererالْخَنَّاسِ۪ۙthe one who withdraws
(114:4) From the evil of the retreating whisperer -
الَّذِیْThe one whoیُوَسْوِسُwhispersفِیْinصُدُوْرِ(the) breastsالنَّاسِۙ(of) mankind
(114:5) Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind -
مِنَFromالْجِنَّةِthe jinnوَ النَّاسِ۠and men
(114:6) From among the jinn and mankind."
