It begins from the dawn of the Day of Sacrifice, the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah (the Shafi`i and Hanbali scholars permit doing the ritual at the second half of the night of the Day of Sacrifice), to the sunrise of the Day of Sacrifice. However, there is a dispute among scholars over the time of ending the ritual: for the Hanafi scholars, it ends at the dawn of the second day. The Maliki scholars maintain that it ends at the sunset of the Day of Sacrifice. The Shafi`i and the Hanbali scholars state that it does expire at the end of the Tashriq Days, the 13th of Dhul-Hijjah.
