بِاَىیِّكُمُ Which of you الْمَفْتُوْنُ (is) the afflicted one اِنَّ Indeed رَبَّكَ your Lord هُوَ He اَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing بِمَنْ of (he) who ضَلَّ has strayed عَنْ from سَبِیْلِهٖ ۪ His way وَ هُوَ and He اَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing بِالْمُهْتَدِیْنَ of the guided ones فَلَا So (do) not تُطِعِ obey الْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ the deniers وَدُّوْا They wish لَوْ that تُدْهِنُ you should compromise فَیُدْهِنُوْنَ so they would compromise وَ لَا And (do) not تُطِعْ obey كُلَّ every حَلَّافٍ habitual swearer مَّهِیْنٍۙ worthless هَمَّازٍ Defamer مَّشَّآءٍۭ going about بِنَمِیْمٍۙ with malicious gossip مَّنَّاعٍ A preventer لِّلْخَیْرِ of (the) good مُعْتَدٍ transgressor اَثِیْمٍۙ sinful عُتُلٍّۭ Cruel بَعْدَ after ذٰلِكَ (all) that زَنِیْمٍۙ utterly useless اَنْ Because كَانَ (he) is ذَا a possessor مَالٍ (of) wealth وَّ بَنِیْنَؕ and children اِذَا When تُتْلٰی are recited عَلَیْهِ to him اٰیٰتُنَا Our Verses قَالَ he says اَسَاطِیْرُ Stories الْاَوَّلِیْنَ (of) the former (people) 68. Al-Qalam Page 565 سَنَسِمُهٗ We will brand him عَلَی on الْخُرْطُوْمِ the snout اِنَّا Indeed We بَلَوْنٰهُمْ have tried them كَمَا as بَلَوْنَاۤ We tried اَصْحٰبَ (the) companions الْجَنَّةِ ۚ (of) the garden اِذْ when اَقْسَمُوْا they swore لَیَصْرِمُنَّهَا to pluck its fruit مُصْبِحِیْنَۙ (in the) morning وَ لَا And not یَسْتَثْنُوْنَ making exception فَطَافَ So there came عَلَیْهَا upon it طَآىِٕفٌ a visitation مِّنْ from رَّبِّكَ your Lord وَ هُمْ while they نَآىِٕمُوْنَ were asleep فَاَصْبَحَتْ So it became كَالصَّرِیْمِۙ as if reaped فَتَنَادَوْا And they called one another مُصْبِحِیْنَۙ (at) morning اَنِ That اغْدُوْا Go early عَلٰی to حَرْثِكُمْ your crop اِنْ if كُنْتُمْ you would صٰرِمِیْنَ pluck (the) fruit فَانْطَلَقُوْا So they went وَ هُمْ while they یَتَخَافَتُوْنَۙ lowered (their) voices اَنْ That لَّا Not یَدْخُلَنَّهَا will enter it الْیَوْمَ today عَلَیْكُمْ upon you مِّسْكِیْنٌۙ any poor person وَّ غَدَوْا And they went early عَلٰی with حَرْدٍ determination قٰدِرِیْنَ able فَلَمَّا But when رَاَوْهَا they saw it قَالُوْۤا they said اِنَّا Indeed we لَضَآلُّوْنَۙ (are) surely lost بَلْ Nay! نَحْنُ We مَحْرُوْمُوْنَ (are) deprived قَالَ Said اَوْسَطُهُمْ (the) most moderate of them اَلَمْ Did not اَقُلْ I tell لَّكُمْ you لَوْ لَا Why not تُسَبِّحُوْنَ you glorify (Allah) قَالُوْا They said سُبْحٰنَ Glory be رَبِّنَاۤ (to) our Lord! اِنَّا Indeed we كُنَّا [we] were ظٰلِمِیْنَ wrongdoers فَاَقْبَلَ Then approached بَعْضُهُمْ some of them عَلٰی to بَعْضٍ others یَّتَلَاوَمُوْنَ blaming each other قَالُوْا They said یٰوَیْلَنَاۤ O woe to us! اِنَّا Indeed we كُنَّا [we] were طٰغِیْنَ transgressors عَسٰی Perhaps رَبُّنَاۤ our Lord اَنْ [that] یُّبْدِلَنَا will substitute for us خَیْرًا a better مِّنْهَاۤ than it اِنَّاۤ Indeed we اِلٰی to رَبِّنَا our Lord رٰغِبُوْنَ turn devoutly كَذٰلِكَ Such الْعَذَابُ ؕ (is) the punishment وَ لَعَذَابُ And surely the punishment الْاٰخِرَةِ (of) the Hereafter اَكْبَرُ ۘ (is) greater لَوْ if كَانُوْا they یَعْلَمُوْنَ۠ know اِنَّ Indeed لِلْمُتَّقِیْنَ for the righteous عِنْدَ with رَبِّهِمْ their Lord جَنّٰتِ (are) Gardens النَّعِیْمِ (of) Delight اَفَنَجْعَلُ Then will We treat الْمُسْلِمِیْنَ the Muslims كَالْمُجْرِمِیْنَؕ like the criminals مَا What لَكُمْ ۥ (is) for you كَیْفَ How تَحْكُمُوْنَۚ (do) you judge اَمْ Or لَكُمْ (is) for you كِتٰبٌ a book فِیْهِ wherein تَدْرُسُوْنَۙ you learn اِنَّ That لَكُمْ for you فِیْهِ therein لَمَا what تَخَیَّرُوْنَۚ you choose اَمْ Or لَكُمْ (do) you have اَیْمَانٌ oaths عَلَیْنَا from us بَالِغَةٌ reaching اِلٰی to یَوْمِ (the) Day الْقِیٰمَةِ ۙ (of) the Resurrection اِنَّ That لَكُمْ for you لَمَا (is) what تَحْكُمُوْنَۚ you judge سَلْهُمْ Ask them اَیُّهُمْ which of them بِذٰلِكَ for that زَعِیْمٌۚۛ (is) responsible اَمْ Or لَهُمْ (do) they have شُرَكَآءُ ۛۚ partners فَلْیَاْتُوْا Then let them bring بِشُرَكَآىِٕهِمْ their partners اِنْ if كَانُوْا they are صٰدِقِیْنَ truthful یَوْمَ (The) Day یُكْشَفُ will be uncovered عَنْ from سَاقٍ the shin وَّ یُدْعَوْنَ and they will be called اِلَی to السُّجُوْدِ prostrate فَلَا but not یَسْتَطِیْعُوْنَۙ they will be able 68. Al-Qalam Page 566 خَاشِعَةً Humbled اَبْصَارُهُمْ their eyes تَرْهَقُهُمْ will cover them ذِلَّةٌ ؕ humiliation وَ قَدْ And indeed كَانُوْا they were یُدْعَوْنَ called اِلَی to السُّجُوْدِ prostrate وَ هُمْ while they سٰلِمُوْنَ (were) sound فَذَرْنِیْ So leave Me وَ مَنْ and whoever یُّكَذِّبُ denies بِهٰذَا this الْحَدِیْثِ ؕ Statement سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُمْ We will progressively lead them مِّنْ from حَیْثُ where لَا not یَعْلَمُوْنَۙ they know وَ اُمْلِیْ And I will give respite لَهُمْ ؕ to them اِنَّ Indeed كَیْدِیْ My plan مَتِیْنٌ (is) firm اَمْ Or تَسْـَٔلُهُمْ you ask them اَجْرًا a payment فَهُمْ so they مِّنْ from مَّغْرَمٍ (the) debt مُّثْقَلُوْنَۚ (are) burdened اَمْ Or عِنْدَهُمُ (is) with them الْغَیْبُ the unseen فَهُمْ so they یَكْتُبُوْنَ write it فَاصْبِرْ So be patient لِحُكْمِ for (the) decision رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord وَ لَا and (do) not تَكُنْ be كَصَاحِبِ like (the) companion الْحُوْتِ ۘ (of) the fish اِذْ when نَادٰی he called out وَ هُوَ while he مَكْظُوْمٌؕ (was) distressed لَوْ لَاۤ If not اَنْ that تَدٰرَكَهٗ overtook him نِعْمَةٌ a Favor مِّنْ from رَّبِّهٖ his Lord لَنُبِذَ surely he would have been thrown بِالْعَرَآءِ onto (the) naked shore وَ هُوَ while he مَذْمُوْمٌ (was) blamed فَاجْتَبٰىهُ But chose him رَبُّهٗ his Lord فَجَعَلَهٗ and made him مِنَ of الصّٰلِحِیْنَ the righteous وَ اِنْ And indeed یَّكَادُ would almost الَّذِیْنَ those who كَفَرُوْا disbelieve لَیُزْلِقُوْنَكَ surely make you slip بِاَبْصَارِهِمْ with their eyes لَمَّا when سَمِعُوا they hear الذِّكْرَ the Message وَ یَقُوْلُوْنَ and they say اِنَّهٗ Indeed he لَمَجْنُوْنٌۘ (is) surely mad وَ مَا And not هُوَ it (is) اِلَّا but ذِكْرٌ a Reminder لِّلْعٰلَمِیْنَ۠ to the worlds 69. Al-Haqqah بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ اَلْحَآقَّةُۙ The Inevitable Reality! مَا What الْحَآقَّةُۚ (is) the Inevitable Reality وَ مَاۤ And what اَدْرٰىكَ will make you know مَا what الْحَآقَّةُؕ (is) the Inevitable Reality كَذَّبَتْ Denied ثَمُوْدُ Thamud وَ عَادٌۢ and Aad بِالْقَارِعَةِ the Striking Calamity فَاَمَّا So as for ثَمُوْدُ Thamud فَاُهْلِكُوْا they were destroyed بِالطَّاغِیَةِ by the overpowering (blast) وَ اَمَّا And as for عَادٌ Aad فَاُهْلِكُوْا they were destroyed بِرِیْحٍ by a wind صَرْصَرٍ screaming عَاتِیَةٍۙ violent سَخَّرَهَا Which He imposed عَلَیْهِمْ upon them سَبْعَ (for) seven لَیَالٍ nights وَّ ثَمٰنِیَةَ and eight اَیَّامٍ ۙ days حُسُوْمًا ۙ (in) succession فَتَرَی so you would see الْقَوْمَ the people فِیْهَا therein صَرْعٰی ۙ fallen كَاَنَّهُمْ as if they were اَعْجَازُ trunks نَخْلٍ (of) date-palms خَاوِیَةٍۚ hollow فَهَلْ Then do تَرٰی you see لَهُمْ of them مِّنْۢ any بَاقِیَةٍ remains 69. Al-Haqqah Page 567 وَ جَآءَ And came فِرْعَوْنُ Firaun وَ مَنْ and (those) قَبْلَهٗ before him وَ الْمُؤْتَفِكٰتُ and the overturned cities بِالْخَاطِئَةِۚ with sin فَعَصَوْا And they disobeyed رَسُوْلَ (the) Messenger رَبِّهِمْ (of) their Lord فَاَخَذَهُمْ so He seized them اَخْذَةً (with) a seizure رَّابِیَةً exceeding اِنَّا Indeed We لَمَّا when طَغَا overflowed الْمَآءُ the water حَمَلْنٰكُمْ We carried you فِی in الْجَارِیَةِۙ the sailing (ship) لِنَجْعَلَهَا That We might make it لَكُمْ for you تَذْكِرَةً a reminder وَّ تَعِیَهَاۤ and would be conscious of it اُذُنٌ an ear وَّاعِیَةٌ conscious فَاِذَا Then when نُفِخَ is blown فِی in الصُّوْرِ the trumpet نَفْخَةٌ a blast وَّاحِدَةٌۙ single وَّ حُمِلَتِ And are lifted الْاَرْضُ the earth وَ الْجِبَالُ and the mountains فَدُكَّتَا and crushed دَكَّةً (with) a crushing وَّاحِدَةًۙ single فَیَوْمَىِٕذٍ Then (on) that Day وَّقَعَتِ will occur الْوَاقِعَةُۙ the Occurrence وَ انْشَقَّتِ And will split السَّمَآءُ the heaven فَهِیَ so it یَوْمَىِٕذٍ (is on) that Day وَّاهِیَةٌۙ frail وَّ الْمَلَكُ And the Angels عَلٰۤی (will be) on اَرْجَآىِٕهَا ؕ its edges وَ یَحْمِلُ and will bear عَرْشَ (the) Throne رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord فَوْقَهُمْ above them یَوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day ثَمٰنِیَةٌؕ eight یَوْمَىِٕذٍ That Day تُعْرَضُوْنَ you will be exhibited لَا not تَخْفٰی will be hidden مِنْكُمْ among you خَافِیَةٌ any secret فَاَمَّا Then as for مَنْ (him) who اُوْتِیَ is given كِتٰبَهٗ his record بِیَمِیْنِهٖ ۙ in his right hand فَیَقُوْلُ will say هَآؤُمُ Here اقْرَءُوْا read كِتٰبِیَهْۚ my record! اِنِّیْ Indeed I ظَنَنْتُ was certain اَنِّیْ that I مُلٰقٍ (will) meet حِسَابِیَهْۚ my account فَهُوَ So he فِیْ (will be) in عِیْشَةٍ a life رَّاضِیَةٍۙ pleasant فِیْ In جَنَّةٍ a Garden عَالِیَةٍۙ elevated قُطُوْفُهَا Its clusters of fruits دَانِیَةٌ hanging near كُلُوْا Eat وَ اشْرَبُوْا and drink هَنِیْٓـًٔۢا (in) satisfaction بِمَاۤ for what اَسْلَفْتُمْ you sent before you فِی in الْاَیَّامِ the days الْخَالِیَةِ past وَ اَمَّا But as for مَنْ (him) who اُوْتِیَ is given كِتٰبَهٗ his record بِشِمَالِهٖ ۙ۬ in his left hand فَیَقُوْلُ will say یٰلَیْتَنِیْ O! I wish لَمْ not اُوْتَ I had been given كِتٰبِیَهْۚ my record وَ لَمْ And not اَدْرِ I had known مَا what حِسَابِیَهْۚ (is) my account یٰلَیْتَهَا O! I wish it كَانَتِ had been الْقَاضِیَةَۚ the end مَاۤ Not اَغْنٰی has availed عَنِّیْ me مَالِیَهْۚ my wealth هَلَكَ Is gone عَنِّیْ from me سُلْطٰنِیَهْۚ my authority خُذُوْهُ Seize him فَغُلُّوْهُۙ and shackle him ثُمَّ Then الْجَحِیْمَ (into) the Hellfire صَلُّوْهُۙ burn him ثُمَّ Then فِیْ into سِلْسِلَةٍ a chain ذَرْعُهَا its length سَبْعُوْنَ (is) seventy ذِرَاعًا cubits فَاسْلُكُوْهُؕ insert him اِنَّهٗ Indeed, he كَانَ (did) لَا not یُؤْمِنُ believe بِاللّٰهِ in Allah الْعَظِیْمِۙ the Most Great وَ لَا And (did) not یَحُضُّ feel the urge عَلٰی on طَعَامِ (the) feeding الْمِسْكِیْنِؕ (of) the poor 69. Al-Haqqah Page 568 فَلَیْسَ So not لَهُ for him الْیَوْمَ today هٰهُنَا here حَمِیْمٌۙ any devoted friend وَّ لَا And not طَعَامٌ any food اِلَّا except مِنْ from غِسْلِیْنٍۙ (the) discharge of wounds لَّا Not یَاْكُلُهٗۤ will eat it اِلَّا except الْخَاطِـُٔوْنَ۠ the sinners فَلَاۤ But nay! اُقْسِمُ I swear بِمَا by what تُبْصِرُوْنَۙ you see وَ مَا And what لَا not تُبْصِرُوْنَۙ you see اِنَّهٗ Indeed it (is) لَقَوْلُ surely (the) Word رَسُوْلٍ (of) a Messenger كَرِیْمٍۚۙ noble وَّ مَا And not هُوَ it بِقَوْلِ (is the) word شَاعِرٍ ؕ (of) a poet; قَلِیْلًا little مَّا (is) what تُؤْمِنُوْنَۙ you believe! وَ لَا And not بِقَوْلِ (it is the) word كَاهِنٍ ؕ (of) a soothsayer; قَلِیْلًا little مَّا (is) what تَذَكَّرُوْنَؕ you remember تَنْزِیْلٌ (It is) a revelation مِّنْ from رَّبِّ (the) Lord الْعٰلَمِیْنَ (of) the worlds وَ لَوْ And if تَقَوَّلَ he (had) fabricated عَلَیْنَا against Us بَعْضَ some الْاَقَاوِیْلِۙ sayings لَاَخَذْنَا Certainly We (would) have seized مِنْهُ him بِالْیَمِیْنِۙ by the right hand; ثُمَّ Then لَقَطَعْنَا certainly We (would) have cut off مِنْهُ from him الْوَتِیْنَؗۖ the aorta فَمَا And not مِنْكُمْ from you مِّنْ any اَحَدٍ one عَنْهُ [from him] حٰجِزِیْنَ (could) prevent وَ اِنَّهٗ And indeed it لَتَذْكِرَةٌ (is) surely a reminder لِّلْمُتَّقِیْنَ for the Allah-fearing وَ اِنَّا And indeed We لَنَعْلَمُ surely know اَنَّ that مِنْكُمْ among you مُّكَذِّبِیْنَ (are) deniers وَ اِنَّهٗ And indeed it لَحَسْرَةٌ (is) surely a regret عَلَی upon الْكٰفِرِیْنَ the disbelievers وَ اِنَّهٗ And indeed it (is) لَحَقُّ surely (the) truth الْیَقِیْنِ (of) certainty فَسَبِّحْ So glorify بِاسْمِ (the) name رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord الْعَظِیْمِ۠ the Most Great 70. Al-Ma'arij بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ سَاَلَ Asked سَآىِٕلٌۢ a questioner بِعَذَابٍ for a punishment وَّاقِعٍۙ bound to happen لِّلْكٰفِرِیْنَ To the disbelievers لَیْسَ not لَهٗ of it دَافِعٌۙ any preventer مِّنَ From اللّٰهِ Allah ذِی Owner الْمَعَارِجِؕ (of) the ways of ascent تَعْرُجُ Ascend الْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُ the Angels وَ الرُّوْحُ and the Spirit اِلَیْهِ to Him فِیْ in یَوْمٍ a Day كَانَ [is] مِقْدَارُهٗ its measure خَمْسِیْنَ (is) fifty اَلْفَ thousand سَنَةٍۚ year(s) فَاصْبِرْ So be patient صَبْرًا a patience جَمِیْلًا good اِنَّهُمْ Indeed they یَرَوْنَهٗ see it بَعِیْدًاۙ (as) far off وَّ نَرٰىهُ But We see it قَرِیْبًاؕ near یَوْمَ (The) Day تَكُوْنُ will be السَّمَآءُ the sky كَالْمُهْلِۙ like molten copper وَ تَكُوْنُ And will be الْجِبَالُ the mountains كَالْعِهْنِۙ like wool وَ لَا And not یَسْـَٔلُ will ask حَمِیْمٌ a friend حَمِیْمًاۚۖ (of) a friend 70. Al-Ma'arij Page 569 یُّبَصَّرُوْنَهُمْ ؕ They will be made to see each other یَوَدُّ Would wish الْمُجْرِمُ the criminal لَوْ if یَفْتَدِیْ he (could be) ransomed مِنْ from عَذَابِ (the) punishment یَوْمِىِٕذٍۭ (of) that Day بِبَنِیْهِۙ by his children وَ صَاحِبَتِهٖ And his spouse وَ اَخِیْهِۙ and his brother وَ فَصِیْلَتِهِ And his nearest kindred الَّتِیْ who تُـْٔوِیْهِۙ sheltered him وَ مَنْ And whoever فِی (is) on الْاَرْضِ the earth جَمِیْعًا ۙ all ثُمَّ then یُنْجِیْهِۙ it (could) save him كَلَّا ؕ By no means! اِنَّهَا Indeed it (is) لَظٰیۙ surely a Flame of Hell نَزَّاعَةً A remover لِّلشَّوٰیۚۖ of the skin of the head تَدْعُوْا Inviting مَنْ (him) who اَدْبَرَ turned his back وَ تَوَلّٰیۙ and went away وَ جَمَعَ And collected فَاَوْعٰی and hoarded اِنَّ Indeed الْاِنْسَانَ the man خُلِقَ was created هَلُوْعًاۙ anxious اِذَا When مَسَّهُ touches him الشَّرُّ the evil جَزُوْعًاۙ distressed وَّ اِذَا And when مَسَّهُ touches him الْخَیْرُ the good مَنُوْعًاۙ withholding اِلَّا Except الْمُصَلِّیْنَۙ those who pray الَّذِیْنَ Those who هُمْ [they] عَلٰی at صَلَاتِهِمْ their prayer دَآىِٕمُوْنَ۪ۙ (are) constant وَ الَّذِیْنَ And those who فِیْۤ in اَمْوَالِهِمْ their wealth حَقٌّ (is) a right مَّعْلُوْمٌ۪ۙ known لِّلسَّآىِٕلِ For the one who asks وَ الْمَحْرُوْمِ۪ۙ and the deprived وَ الَّذِیْنَ And those who یُصَدِّقُوْنَ accept (the) truth بِیَوْمِ (of the) Day الدِّیْنِ۪ۙ (of) the Judgment وَ الَّذِیْنَ And those who هُمْ [they] مِّنْ of عَذَابِ (the) punishment رَبِّهِمْ (of) their Lord مُّشْفِقُوْنَۚ (are) fearful اِنَّ Indeed عَذَابَ (the) punishment رَبِّهِمْ (of) your Lord غَیْرُ (is) not مَاْمُوْنٍ to be felt secure (of) وَ الَّذِیْنَ And those who هُمْ [they] لِفُرُوْجِهِمْ their modesty حٰفِظُوْنَۙ (are) guardians اِلَّا Except عَلٰۤی from اَزْوَاجِهِمْ their spouses اَوْ or مَا what مَلَكَتْ they possess اَیْمَانُهُمْ rightfully فَاِنَّهُمْ then indeed, they غَیْرُ (are) not مَلُوْمِیْنَۚ blameworthy فَمَنِ But whoever ابْتَغٰی seeks وَرَآءَ beyond ذٰلِكَ that فَاُولٰٓىِٕكَ then those هُمُ [they] الْعٰدُوْنَۚ (are) the transgressors وَ الَّذِیْنَ And those who هُمْ [they] لِاَمٰنٰتِهِمْ of their trusts وَ عَهْدِهِمْ and their promise رٰعُوْنَ۪ۙ (are) observers وَ الَّذِیْنَ And those who هُمْ [they] بِشَهٰدٰتِهِمْ in their testimonies قَآىِٕمُوْنَ۪ۙ stand firm وَ الَّذِیْنَ And those who هُمْ [they] عَلٰی on صَلَاتِهِمْ their prayer یُحَافِظُوْنَؕ keep a guard اُولٰٓىِٕكَ Those فِیْ (will be) in جَنّٰتٍ Gardens مُّكْرَمُوْنَؕ۠ honored فَمَالِ So what is with الَّذِیْنَ those who كَفَرُوْا disbelieve قِبَلَكَ before you مُهْطِعِیْنَۙ (they) hasten عَنِ On الْیَمِیْنِ the right وَ عَنِ and on الشِّمَالِ the left عِزِیْنَ (in) separate groups اَیَطْمَعُ Does long كُلُّ every امْرِئٍ person مِّنْهُمْ among them اَنْ that یُّدْخَلَ he enters جَنَّةَ a Garden نَعِیْمٍۙ (of) Delight كَلَّا ؕ By no means! اِنَّا Indeed We خَلَقْنٰهُمْ [We] have created them مِّمَّا from what یَعْلَمُوْنَ they know 70. Al-Ma'arij Page 570 فَلَاۤ But nay! اُقْسِمُ I swear بِرَبِّ by (the) Lord الْمَشٰرِقِ (of) the rising وَ الْمَغٰرِبِ and the settings اِنَّا that We لَقٰدِرُوْنَۙ (are) surely Able عَلٰۤی To اَنْ that نُّبَدِّلَ We replace خَیْرًا (with) better مِّنْهُمْ ۙ than them; وَ مَا and not نَحْنُ We بِمَسْبُوْقِیْنَ (are) to be outrun فَذَرْهُمْ So leave them یَخُوْضُوْا (to) converse vainly وَ یَلْعَبُوْا and amuse themselves حَتّٰی until یُلٰقُوْا they meet یَوْمَهُمُ their Day الَّذِیْ which یُوْعَدُوْنَۙ they are promised یَوْمَ (The) Day یَخْرُجُوْنَ they will come out مِنَ from الْاَجْدَاثِ the graves سِرَاعًا rapidly كَاَنَّهُمْ as if they (were) اِلٰی to نُصُبٍ a goal یُّوْفِضُوْنَۙ hastening خَاشِعَةً Humbled اَبْصَارُهُمْ their eyes تَرْهَقُهُمْ will cover them ذِلَّةٌ ؕ humiliation ذٰلِكَ That الْیَوْمُ (is) the Day الَّذِیْ which كَانُوْا they were یُوْعَدُوْنَ۠ promised 71. Nuh بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ اِنَّاۤ Indeed, We اَرْسَلْنَا [We] sent نُوْحًا Nuh اِلٰی to قَوْمِهٖۤ his people اَنْ that اَنْذِرْ Warn قَوْمَكَ your people مِنْ from قَبْلِ before اَنْ [that] یَّاْتِیَهُمْ comes to them عَذَابٌ a punishment اَلِیْمٌ painful قَالَ He said یٰقَوْمِ O my people! اِنِّیْ Indeed I am لَكُمْ to you نَذِیْرٌ a warner مُّبِیْنٌۙ clear اَنِ That اعْبُدُوا Worship اللّٰهَ Allah وَ اتَّقُوْهُ and fear Him وَ اَطِیْعُوْنِۙ and obey me یَغْفِرْ He will forgive لَكُمْ for you مِّنْ [of] ذُنُوْبِكُمْ your sins وَ یُؤَخِّرْكُمْ and give you respite اِلٰۤی for اَجَلٍ a term مُّسَمًّی ؕ specified اِنَّ Indeed اَجَلَ (the) term اللّٰهِ (of) Allah اِذَا when جَآءَ it comes لَا not یُؤَخَّرُ ۘ is delayed لَوْ if كُنْتُمْ you تَعْلَمُوْنَ know قَالَ He said رَبِّ My Lord! اِنِّیْ Indeed I دَعَوْتُ invited قَوْمِیْ my people لَیْلًا night وَّ نَهَارًاۙ and day فَلَمْ But not یَزِدْهُمْ increased them دُعَآءِیْۤ my invitation اِلَّا except فِرَارًا (in) flight وَ اِنِّیْ And indeed I كُلَّمَا every time دَعَوْتُهُمْ I invited them لِتَغْفِرَ that You may forgive لَهُمْ them جَعَلُوْۤا they put اَصَابِعَهُمْ their fingers فِیْۤ in اٰذَانِهِمْ their ears وَ اسْتَغْشَوْا and covered themselves ثِیَابَهُمْ (with) their garments وَ اَصَرُّوْا and persisted وَ اسْتَكْبَرُوا and were arrogant اسْتِكْبَارًاۚ (with) pride ثُمَّ Then اِنِّیْ indeed I دَعَوْتُهُمْ invited them جِهَارًاۙ publicly ثُمَّ Then اِنِّیْۤ indeed I اَعْلَنْتُ announced لَهُمْ to them وَ اَسْرَرْتُ and I confided لَهُمْ to them اِسْرَارًاۙ secretly فَقُلْتُ Then I said اسْتَغْفِرُوْا Ask forgiveness رَبَّكُمْ ؕ (from) your Lord اِنَّهٗ Indeed He كَانَ is غَفَّارًاۙ Oft-Forgiving 71. Nuh Page 571 یُّرْسِلِ He will send down السَّمَآءَ (rain from) the sky عَلَیْكُمْ upon you مِّدْرَارًاۙ (in) abundance وَّ یُمْدِدْكُمْ And provide you بِاَمْوَالٍ with wealth وَّ بَنِیْنَ and children وَ یَجْعَلْ and make لَّكُمْ for you جَنّٰتٍ gardens وَّ یَجْعَلْ and make لَّكُمْ for you اَنْهٰرًاؕ rivers مَا What لَكُمْ (is) for you لَا not تَرْجُوْنَ you attribute لِلّٰهِ to Allah وَقَارًاۚ grandeur وَ قَدْ And indeed خَلَقَكُمْ He created you اَطْوَارًا (in) stages اَلَمْ Do not تَرَوْا you see كَیْفَ how خَلَقَ did create اللّٰهُ Allah سَبْعَ (the) seven سَمٰوٰتٍ heavens طِبَاقًاۙ (in) layers وَّ جَعَلَ And made الْقَمَرَ the moon فِیْهِنَّ therein نُوْرًا a light وَّ جَعَلَ and made الشَّمْسَ the sun سِرَاجًا a lamp وَ اللّٰهُ And Allah اَنْۢبَتَكُمْ has caused you to grow مِّنَ from الْاَرْضِ the earth نَبَاتًاۙ (as) a growth ثُمَّ Then یُعِیْدُكُمْ He will return you فِیْهَا into it وَ یُخْرِجُكُمْ and bring you forth اِخْرَاجًا (a new) bringing forth وَ اللّٰهُ And Allah جَعَلَ made لَكُمُ for you الْاَرْضَ the earth بِسَاطًاۙ an expanse لِّتَسْلُكُوْا That you may go along مِنْهَا therein سُبُلًا (in) paths فِجَاجًا۠ wide قَالَ Said نُوْحٌ Nuh رَّبِّ My Lord! اِنَّهُمْ Indeed they عَصَوْنِیْ disobeyed me وَ اتَّبَعُوْا and followed مَنْ (the one) who لَّمْ (did) not یَزِدْهُ increase him مَالُهٗ his wealth وَ وَلَدُهٗۤ and his children اِلَّا except خَسَارًاۚ (in) loss وَ مَكَرُوْا And they have planned مَكْرًا a plan كُبَّارًاۚ great وَ قَالُوْا And they said لَا (Do) not تَذَرُنَّ leave اٰلِهَتَكُمْ your gods وَ لَا and (do) not تَذَرُنَّ leave وَدًّا Wadd وَّ لَا and not سُوَاعًا ۙ۬ Suwa وَّ لَا and not یَغُوْثَ Yaguth وَ یَعُوْقَ and Yauq وَ نَسْرًاۚ and Nasr وَ قَدْ And indeed اَضَلُّوْا they have led astray كَثِیْرًا ۚ۬ many وَ لَا And not تَزِدِ increase الظّٰلِمِیْنَ the wrongdoers اِلَّا except ضَلٰلًا (in) error مِمَّا Because of خَطِیْٓـٰٔتِهِمْ their sins اُغْرِقُوْا they were drowned فَاُدْخِلُوْا then made to enter نَارًا ۙ۬ (the) Fire فَلَمْ and not یَجِدُوْا they found لَهُمْ for themselves مِّنْ from دُوْنِ besides اللّٰهِ Allah اَنْصَارًا any helpers وَ قَالَ And said نُوْحٌ Nuh رَّبِّ My Lord! لَا (Do) not تَذَرْ leave عَلَی on الْاَرْضِ the earth مِنَ any الْكٰفِرِیْنَ (of) the disbelievers دَیَّارًا (as) an inhabitant اِنَّكَ Indeed You اِنْ if تَذَرْهُمْ You leave them یُضِلُّوْا they will mislead عِبَادَكَ Your slaves وَ لَا and not یَلِدُوْۤا they will beget اِلَّا except فَاجِرًا a wicked كَفَّارًا a disbeliever رَبِّ My Lord! اغْفِرْ Forgive لِیْ me وَ لِوَالِدَیَّ and my parents وَ لِمَنْ and whoever دَخَلَ enters بَیْتِیَ my house مُؤْمِنًا a believer وَّ لِلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ and believing men وَ الْمُؤْمِنٰتِ ؕ and believing women وَ لَا And (do) not تَزِدِ increase الظّٰلِمِیْنَ the wrongdoers اِلَّا except تَبَارًا۠ (in) destruction 72. Al-Jinn Page 572 72. Al-Jinn بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ قُلْ Say اُوْحِیَ It has been revealed اِلَیَّ to me اَنَّهُ that اسْتَمَعَ listened نَفَرٌ a group مِّنَ of الْجِنِّ the jinn فَقَالُوْۤا and they said اِنَّا Indeed we سَمِعْنَا heard قُرْاٰنًا a Quran عَجَبًاۙ amazing یَّهْدِیْۤ It guides اِلَی to الرُّشْدِ the right way فَاٰمَنَّا so we believe بِهٖ ؕ in it وَ لَنْ and never نُّشْرِكَ we will associate بِرَبِّنَاۤ with our Lord اَحَدًاۙ anyone وَّ اَنَّهٗ And that He تَعٰلٰی Exalted is جَدُّ (the) Majesty رَبِّنَا (of) our Lord مَا not اتَّخَذَ He has taken صَاحِبَةً a wife وَّ لَا and not وَلَدًاۙ a son وَّ اَنَّهٗ And that he كَانَ used یَقُوْلُ (to) speak سَفِیْهُنَا the foolish among us عَلَی against اللّٰهِ Allah شَطَطًاۙ an excessive transgression وَّ اَنَّا And that we ظَنَنَّاۤ thought اَنْ that لَّنْ never تَقُوْلَ will say الْاِنْسُ the men وَ الْجِنُّ and the jinn عَلَی against اللّٰهِ Allah كَذِبًاۙ any lie وَّ اَنَّهٗ And that كَانَ (there) were رِجَالٌ men مِّنَ among الْاِنْسِ mankind یَعُوْذُوْنَ who sought refuge بِرِجَالٍ in (the) men مِّنَ from الْجِنِّ the jinn فَزَادُوْهُمْ so they increased them رَهَقًاۙ (in) burden وَّ اَنَّهُمْ And that they ظَنُّوْا thought كَمَا as ظَنَنْتُمْ you thought اَنْ that لَّنْ never یَّبْعَثَ will raise اللّٰهُ Allah اَحَدًاۙ anyone وَّ اَنَّا And that we لَمَسْنَا sought to touch السَّمَآءَ the heaven فَوَجَدْنٰهَا but we found it مُلِئَتْ filled (with) حَرَسًا guards شَدِیْدًا severe وَّ شُهُبًاۙ and flaming fires وَّ اَنَّا And that we كُنَّا used (to) نَقْعُدُ sit مِنْهَا there in مَقَاعِدَ positions لِلسَّمْعِ ؕ for hearing فَمَنْ but (he) who یَّسْتَمِعِ listens الْاٰنَ now یَجِدْ will find لَهٗ for him شِهَابًا a flaming fire رَّصَدًاۙ waiting وَّ اَنَّا And that we لَا not نَدْرِیْۤ we know اَشَرٌّ whether evil اُرِیْدَ is intended بِمَنْ for (those) who فِی (are) in الْاَرْضِ the earth اَمْ or اَرَادَ intends بِهِمْ for them رَبُّهُمْ their Lord رَشَدًاۙ a right path وَّ اَنَّا And that مِنَّا among us الصّٰلِحُوْنَ (are) the righteous وَ مِنَّا and among us دُوْنَ (are) other than ذٰلِكَ ؕ that كُنَّا We طَرَآىِٕقَ (are on) ways قِدَدًاۙ different وَّ اَنَّا And that we ظَنَنَّاۤ [we] have become certain اَنْ that لَّنْ never نُّعْجِزَ we will cause failure اللّٰهَ (to) Allah فِی in الْاَرْضِ the earth وَ لَنْ and never نُّعْجِزَهٗ we can escape Him هَرَبًاۙ (by) flight وَّ اَنَّا And that لَمَّا when سَمِعْنَا we heard الْهُدٰۤی the Guidance اٰمَنَّا we believed بِهٖ ؕ in it فَمَنْ And whoever یُّؤْمِنْۢ believes بِرَبِّهٖ in his Lord فَلَا then not یَخَافُ he will fear بَخْسًا any loss وَّ لَا and not رَهَقًاۙ any burden 72. Al-Jinn Page 573 وَّ اَنَّا And that we مِنَّا among us الْمُسْلِمُوْنَ (are) Muslims وَ مِنَّا and among us الْقٰسِطُوْنَ ؕ (are) unjust فَمَنْ And whoever اَسْلَمَ submits فَاُولٰٓىِٕكَ then those تَحَرَّوْا have sought رَشَدًا (the) right path وَ اَمَّا And as for الْقٰسِطُوْنَ the unjust فَكَانُوْا they will be لِجَهَنَّمَ for Hell حَطَبًاۙ firewood وَّ اَنْ لَّوِ And if اسْتَقَامُوْا they had remained عَلَی on الطَّرِیْقَةِ the Way لَاَسْقَیْنٰهُمْ surely We (would) have given them to drink مَّآءً water غَدَقًاۙ (in) abundance لِّنَفْتِنَهُمْ That We might test them فِیْهِ ؕ therein وَ مَنْ And whoever یُّعْرِضْ turns away عَنْ from ذِكْرِ the Remembrance رَبِّهٖ (of) his Lord یَسْلُكْهُ He will make him enter عَذَابًا a punishment صَعَدًاۙ severe وَّ اَنَّ And that الْمَسٰجِدَ the masajid لِلّٰهِ (are) for Allah فَلَا so (do) not تَدْعُوْا call مَعَ with اللّٰهِ Allah اَحَدًاۙ anyone وَّ اَنَّهٗ And that لَمَّا when قَامَ stood up عَبْدُ (the) slave اللّٰهِ (of) Allah یَدْعُوْهُ calling (upon) Him كَادُوْا they almost یَكُوْنُوْنَ became عَلَیْهِ around him لِبَدًاؕ۠ a compacted mass قُلْ Say اِنَّمَاۤ Only اَدْعُوْا I call upon رَبِّیْ my Lord وَ لَاۤ and not اُشْرِكُ I associate بِهٖۤ with Him اَحَدًا anyone قُلْ Say اِنِّیْ Indeed I لَاۤ (do) not اَمْلِكُ possess لَكُمْ for you ضَرًّا any harm وَّ لَا and not رَشَدًا right path قُلْ Say اِنِّیْ Indeed I لَنْ never یُّجِیْرَنِیْ can protect me مِنَ from اللّٰهِ Allah اَحَدٌ ۙ۬ anyone وَّ لَنْ and never اَجِدَ can I find مِنْ from دُوْنِهٖ besides Him مُلْتَحَدًاۙ any refuge اِلَّا But بَلٰغًا (the) notification مِّنَ from اللّٰهِ Allah وَ رِسٰلٰتِهٖ ؕ and His Messages وَ مَنْ And whoever یَّعْصِ disobeys اللّٰهَ Allah وَ رَسُوْلَهٗ and His Messenger فَاِنَّ then indeed لَهٗ for him نَارَ (is the) Fire جَهَنَّمَ (of) Hell خٰلِدِیْنَ (they will) abide فِیْهَاۤ therein اَبَدًاؕ forever حَتّٰۤی Until اِذَا when رَاَوْا they see مَا what یُوْعَدُوْنَ they are promised فَسَیَعْلَمُوْنَ then they will know مَنْ who اَضْعَفُ (is) weaker نَاصِرًا (in) helpers وَّ اَقَلُّ and fewer عَدَدًا (in) number قُلْ Say اِنْ Not اَدْرِیْۤ I know اَقَرِیْبٌ whether is near مَّا what تُوْعَدُوْنَ you are promised اَمْ or (whether) یَجْعَلُ will appoint لَهٗ for it رَبِّیْۤ my Lord اَمَدًا a (distant) term عٰلِمُ (The) All-Knower الْغَیْبِ (of) the unseen فَلَا so not یُظْهِرُ He reveals عَلٰی from غَیْبِهٖۤ His unseen اَحَدًاۙ (to) anyone اِلَّا Except مَنِ whom ارْتَضٰی He has approved مِنْ of رَّسُوْلٍ a Messenger فَاِنَّهٗ and indeed, He یَسْلُكُ makes to march مِنْۢ from بَیْنِ before یَدَیْهِ him وَ مِنْ and from خَلْفِهٖ behind him رَصَدًاۙ a guard لِّیَعْلَمَ That He may make evident اَنْ that قَدْ indeed اَبْلَغُوْا they have conveyed رِسٰلٰتِ (the) Messages رَبِّهِمْ (of) their Lord; وَ اَحَاطَ and He has encompassed بِمَا what لَدَیْهِمْ (is) with them وَ اَحْصٰی and He takes account كُلَّ (of) all شَیْءٍ things عَدَدًا۠ (in) number 73. Al-Muzzammil Page 574 73. Al-Muzzammil بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ یٰۤاَیُّهَا O you الْمُزَّمِّلُۙ who wraps himself! قُمِ Stand الَّیْلَ (in) the night اِلَّا except قَلِیْلًاۙ a little نِّصْفَهٗۤ Half of it اَوِ or انْقُصْ lessen مِنْهُ from it قَلِیْلًاۙ a little اَوْ Or زِدْ add عَلَیْهِ to it وَ رَتِّلِ and recite الْقُرْاٰنَ the Quran تَرْتِیْلًاؕ (with) measured rhythmic recitation اِنَّا Indeed We سَنُلْقِیْ will cast عَلَیْكَ upon you قَوْلًا a Word ثَقِیْلًا heavy اِنَّ Indeed نَاشِئَةَ (the) rising الَّیْلِ (at) the night هِیَ it اَشَدُّ (is) very hard وَطْاً and most potent وَّ اَقْوَمُ and more suitable قِیْلًاؕ (for) Word اِنَّ Indeed لَكَ for you فِی in النَّهَارِ the day سَبْحًا (is) occupation طَوِیْلًاؕ prolonged وَ اذْكُرِ And remember اسْمَ (the) name رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord وَ تَبَتَّلْ and devote yourself اِلَیْهِ to Him تَبْتِیْلًاؕ (with) devotion رَبُّ (The) Lord الْمَشْرِقِ (of) the east وَ الْمَغْرِبِ and the west; لَاۤ (there is) no اِلٰهَ god اِلَّا except هُوَ Him فَاتَّخِذْهُ so take Him وَكِیْلًا (as) Disposer of Affairs وَ اصْبِرْ And be patient عَلٰی over مَا what یَقُوْلُوْنَ they say وَ اهْجُرْهُمْ and avoid them هَجْرًا an avoidance جَمِیْلًا gracious وَ ذَرْنِیْ And leave Me وَ الْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ and the deniers اُولِی possessors النَّعْمَةِ (of) the ease وَ مَهِّلْهُمْ and allow them respite قَلِیْلًا a little اِنَّ Indeed لَدَیْنَاۤ with Us اَنْكَالًا (are) shackles وَّ جَحِیْمًاۙ and burning fire وَّ طَعَامًا And food ذَا that غُصَّةٍ chokes وَّ عَذَابًا and a punishment اَلِیْمًاۗ painful یَوْمَ On (the) Day تَرْجُفُ will quake الْاَرْضُ the earth وَ الْجِبَالُ and the mountains وَ كَانَتِ and will become الْجِبَالُ the mountains كَثِیْبًا a heap of sand مَّهِیْلًا pouring down اِنَّاۤ Indeed We اَرْسَلْنَاۤ [We] have sent اِلَیْكُمْ to you رَسُوْلًا ۙ۬ a Messenger شَاهِدًا (as) a witness عَلَیْكُمْ upon you كَمَاۤ as اَرْسَلْنَاۤ We sent اِلٰی to فِرْعَوْنَ Firaun رَسُوْلًاؕ a Messenger فَعَصٰی But disobeyed فِرْعَوْنُ Firaun الرَّسُوْلَ the Messenger فَاَخَذْنٰهُ so We seized him اَخْذًا (with) a seizure وَّبِیْلًا ruinous فَكَیْفَ Then how تَتَّقُوْنَ will you guard yourselves اِنْ if كَفَرْتُمْ you disbelieve یَوْمًا a Day یَّجْعَلُ (that) will make الْوِلْدَانَ the children شِیْبَاۗۖ gray-headed لسَّمَآءُ The heaven مُنْفَطِرٌۢ (will) break apart بِهٖ ؕ therefrom كَانَ is وَعْدُهٗ His Promise مَفْعُوْلًا to be fulfilled اِنَّ Indeed هٰذِهٖ this تَذْكِرَةٌ ۚ (is) a Reminder فَمَنْ then whoever شَآءَ wills اتَّخَذَ let him take اِلٰی to رَبِّهٖ his Lord سَبِیْلًا۠ a way 73. Al-Muzzammil Page 575 اِنَّ Indeed رَبَّكَ your Lord یَعْلَمُ knows اَنَّكَ that you تَقُوْمُ stand اَدْنٰی a little less مِنْ than ثُلُثَیِ two thirds الَّیْلِ (of) the night وَ نِصْفَهٗ and half of it وَ ثُلُثَهٗ and a third of it وَ طَآىِٕفَةٌ and (so do) a group مِّنَ of الَّذِیْنَ those who مَعَكَ ؕ (are) with you وَ اللّٰهُ And Allah یُقَدِّرُ determines الَّیْلَ the night وَ النَّهَارَ ؕ and the day عَلِمَ He knows اَنْ that لَّنْ not تُحْصُوْهُ you count it فَتَابَ so He has turned عَلَیْكُمْ to you فَاقْرَءُوْا so recite مَا what تَیَسَّرَ is easy مِنَ of الْقُرْاٰنِ ؕ the Quran عَلِمَ He knows اَنْ that سَیَكُوْنُ there will be مِنْكُمْ among you مَّرْضٰی ۙ sick وَ اٰخَرُوْنَ and others یَضْرِبُوْنَ traveling فِی in الْاَرْضِ the land یَبْتَغُوْنَ seeking مِنْ of فَضْلِ (the) Bounty اللّٰهِ ۙ (of) Allah وَ اٰخَرُوْنَ and others یُقَاتِلُوْنَ fighting فِیْ in سَبِیْلِ (the) way اللّٰهِ ۖؗ (of) Allah فَاقْرَءُوْا So recite مَا what تَیَسَّرَ is easy مِنْهُ ۙ of it وَ اَقِیْمُوا and establish الصَّلٰوةَ the prayer وَ اٰتُوا and give الزَّكٰوةَ the zakah وَ اَقْرِضُوا and loan اللّٰهَ Allah قَرْضًا a loan حَسَنًا ؕ goodly وَ مَا And whatever تُقَدِّمُوْا you send forth لِاَنْفُسِكُمْ for yourselves مِّنْ of خَیْرٍ good تَجِدُوْهُ you will find it عِنْدَ with اللّٰهِ Allah هُوَ It خَیْرًا (is) better وَّ اَعْظَمَ and greater اَجْرًا ؕ (in) reward وَ اسْتَغْفِرُوا And seek forgiveness اللّٰهَ ؕ (of) Allah اِنَّ Indeed اللّٰهَ Allah غَفُوْرٌ (is) Oft-Forgiving رَّحِیْمٌ۠ Most Merciful 74. Al-Muddaththir بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ یٰۤاَیُّهَا O you الْمُدَّثِّرُۙ who covers himself! قُمْ Stand up فَاَنْذِرْ۪ۙ and warn وَ رَبَّكَ And your Lord فَكَبِّرْ۪ۙ magnify وَ ثِیَابَكَ And your clothing فَطَهِّرْ۪ۙ purify وَ الرُّجْزَ And uncleanliness فَاهْجُرْ۪ۙ avoid وَ لَا And (do) not تَمْنُنْ confer favor تَسْتَكْثِرُ۪ۙ (to) acquire more وَ لِرَبِّكَ And for your Lord فَاصْبِرْؕ be patient فَاِذَا Then when نُقِرَ is blown فِی in النَّاقُوْرِۙ the trumpet فَذٰلِكَ That یَوْمَىِٕذٍ Day یَّوْمٌ (will be) a Day عَسِیْرٌۙ difficult عَلَی For الْكٰفِرِیْنَ the disbelievers غَیْرُ not یَسِیْرٍ easy ذَرْنِیْ Leave Me وَ مَنْ and whom خَلَقْتُ I created وَحِیْدًاۙ alone وَّ جَعَلْتُ And I granted لَهٗ to him مَالًا wealth مَّمْدُوْدًاۙ extensive وَّ بَنِیْنَ And children شُهُوْدًاۙ present وَّ مَهَّدْتُّ And I spread لَهٗ for him تَمْهِیْدًاۙ ease ثُمَّ Then یَطْمَعُ he desires اَنْ that اَزِیْدَۗۙ I (should) add more كَلَّا ؕ By no means! اِنَّهٗ Indeed he كَانَ has been لِاٰیٰتِنَا to Our Verses عَنِیْدًاؕ stubborn سَاُرْهِقُهٗ Soon I will cover Him صَعُوْدًاؕ (with) a laborious punishment 74. Al-Muddaththir Page 576 اِنَّهٗ Indeed he فَكَّرَ thought وَ قَدَّرَۙ and plotted فَقُتِلَ So may he be destroyed كَیْفَ how قَدَّرَۙ he plotted ثُمَّ Then قُتِلَ may he be destroyed كَیْفَ how قَدَّرَۙ he plotted ثُمَّ Then نَظَرَۙ he looked; ثُمَّ Then عَبَسَ he frowned وَ بَسَرَۙ and scowled; ثُمَّ Then اَدْبَرَ he turned back وَ اسْتَكْبَرَۙ and was proud فَقَالَ Then he said اِنْ Not هٰذَاۤ (is) this اِلَّا but سِحْرٌ magic یُّؤْثَرُۙ imitated اِنْ Not هٰذَاۤ (is) this اِلَّا but قَوْلُ (the) word الْبَشَرِؕ (of) a human being سَاُصْلِیْهِ Soon I will admit him سَقَرَ (in) Hell وَ مَاۤ And what اَدْرٰىكَ can make you know مَا what سَقَرُؕ (is) Hell لَا Not تُبْقِیْ it lets remain وَ لَا and not تَذَرُۚ it leaves لَوَّاحَةٌ Scorching لِّلْبَشَرِۚۖ the human (skin) عَلَیْهَا Over it تِسْعَةَ (are) nine عَشَرَؕ teen وَ مَا And not جَعَلْنَاۤ We have made اَصْحٰبَ keepers النَّارِ (of) the Fire اِلَّا except مَلٰٓىِٕكَةً ۪ Angels وَّ مَا And not جَعَلْنَا We have made عِدَّتَهُمْ their number اِلَّا except فِتْنَةً (as) a trial لِّلَّذِیْنَ for those who كَفَرُوْا ۙ disbelieve لِیَسْتَیْقِنَ that may be certain الَّذِیْنَ those who اُوْتُوا were given الْكِتٰبَ the Scripture وَ یَزْدَادَ and may increase الَّذِیْنَ those who اٰمَنُوْۤا believe اِیْمَانًا (in) faith وَّ لَا and not یَرْتَابَ may doubt الَّذِیْنَ those who اُوْتُوا were given الْكِتٰبَ the Scripture وَ الْمُؤْمِنُوْنَ ۙ and the believers وَ لِیَقُوْلَ and that may say الَّذِیْنَ those فِیْ in قُلُوْبِهِمْ their hearts مَّرَضٌ (is) a disease وَّ الْكٰفِرُوْنَ and the disbelievers مَا ذَاۤ What اَرَادَ (does) intend اللّٰهُ Allah بِهٰذَا by this مَثَلًا ؕ example كَذٰلِكَ Thus یُضِلُّ does let go astray اللّٰهُ Allah مَنْ whom یَّشَآءُ He wills وَ یَهْدِیْ and guides مَنْ whom یَّشَآءُ ؕ He wills وَ مَا And none یَعْلَمُ knows جُنُوْدَ (the) hosts رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord اِلَّا except هُوَ ؕ Him وَ مَا And not هِیَ it اِلَّا (is) but ذِكْرٰی a reminder لِلْبَشَرِ۠ to (the) human beings كَلَّا Nay! وَ الْقَمَرِۙ By the moon وَ الَّیْلِ And the night اِذْ when اَدْبَرَۙ it departs وَ الصُّبْحِ And the morning اِذَاۤ when اَسْفَرَۙ it brightens اِنَّهَا Indeed it لَاِحْدَی (is) surely one الْكُبَرِۙ (of) the greatest نَذِیْرًا A warning لِّلْبَشَرِۙ to (the) human being لِمَنْ To whoever شَآءَ wills مِنْكُمْ among you اَنْ to یَّتَقَدَّمَ proceed اَوْ or یَتَاَخَّرَؕ stay behind كُلُّ Every نَفْسٍۭ soul بِمَا for what كَسَبَتْ it has earned رَهِیْنَةٌۙ (is) pledged اِلَّاۤ Except اَصْحٰبَ (the) companions الْیَمِیْنِؕۛ (of) the right فِیْ In جَنّٰتٍ ۛؕ۫ Gardens یَتَسَآءَلُوْنَۙ asking each other عَنِ About الْمُجْرِمِیْنَۙ the criminals مَا What سَلَكَكُمْ led you فِیْ into سَقَرَ Hell قَالُوْا They will say لَمْ Not نَكُ we were مِنَ of الْمُصَلِّیْنَۙ those who prayed وَلَمْ And not نَكُ we used نُطْعِمُ (to) feed الْمِسْكِیْنَۙ the poor وَ كُنَّا And we used (to) نَخُوْضُ indulge in vain talk مَعَ with الْخَآىِٕضِیْنَۙ the vain talkers وَ كُنَّا And we used (to) نُكَذِّبُ deny بِیَوْمِ (the) Day الدِّیْنِۙ (of) the Judgment حَتّٰۤی Until اَتٰىنَا there came to us الْیَقِیْنُؕ the certainty 74. Al-Muddaththir Page 577 فَمَا Then not تَنْفَعُهُمْ will benefit them شَفَاعَةُ intercession الشّٰفِعِیْنَؕ (of) the intercessors فَمَا Then what لَهُمْ (is) for them عَنِ (that) from التَّذْكِرَةِ the Reminder مُعْرِضِیْنَۙ they (are) turning away كَاَنَّهُمْ As if they (were) حُمُرٌ donkeys مُّسْتَنْفِرَةٌۙ frightened فَرَّتْ Fleeing مِنْ from قَسْوَرَةٍؕ a lion بَلْ Nay! یُرِیْدُ Desires كُلُّ every امْرِئٍ person مِّنْهُمْ of them اَنْ that یُّؤْتٰی he may be given صُحُفًا pages مُّنَشَّرَةًۙ spread out كَلَّا ؕ Nay! بَلْ But لَّا not یَخَافُوْنَ they fear الْاٰخِرَةَؕ the Hereafter كَلَّاۤ Nay! اِنَّهٗ Indeed it تَذْكِرَةٌۚ (is) a Reminder فَمَنْ So whoever شَآءَ wills ذَكَرَهٗؕ (may) pay heed to it وَ مَا And not یَذْكُرُوْنَ will pay heed اِلَّاۤ except اَنْ that یَّشَآءَ wills اللّٰهُ ؕ Allah هُوَ He اَهْلُ (is) worthy التَّقْوٰی to be feared وَ اَهْلُ and worthy الْمَغْفِرَةِ۠ to forgive 75. Al-Qiyamah بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ لَاۤ Nay! اُقْسِمُ I swear بِیَوْمِ by (the) Day الْقِیٰمَةِۙ (of) the Resurrection وَ لَاۤ And nay! اُقْسِمُ I swear بِالنَّفْسِ by the soul اللَّوَّامَةِؕ self-accusing اَیَحْسَبُ Does think الْاِنْسَانُ [the] man اَلَّنْ that not نَّجْمَعَ We will assemble عِظَامَهٗؕ his bones بَلٰى Nay! قٰدِرِیْنَ [We are] able عَلٰۤی on اَنْ that نُّسَوِّیَ We can restore بَنَانَهٗ his fingertips بَلْ Nay! یُرِیْدُ Desires الْاِنْسَانُ [the] man لِیَفْجُرَ to give (the) lie اَمَامَهٗۚ (to) what is before him یَسْـَٔلُ He asks اَیَّانَ When یَوْمُ (is the) Day الْقِیٰمَةِؕ (of) the Resurrection فَاِذَا So when بَرِقَ is dazzled الْبَصَرُۙ the vision وَ خَسَفَ And becomes dark الْقَمَرُۙ the moon وَ جُمِعَ And are joined الشَّمْسُ the sun وَ الْقَمَرُۙ and the moon یَقُوْلُ Will say الْاِنْسَانُ [the] man یَوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day اَیْنَ Where الْمَفَرُّۚ (is) the escape كَلَّا By no means! لَا (There is) no وَزَرَؕ refuge اِلٰى To رَبِّكَ your Lord یَوْمَىِٕذِ that Day لْمُسْتَقَرُّؕ (is) the place of rest یُنَبَّؤُا Will be informed الْاِنْسَانُ [the] man یَوْمَىِٕذٍۭ that Day بِمَا of what قَدَّمَ he sent forth وَ اَخَّرَؕ and kept back بَلِ Nay! الْاِنْسَانُ [The] man عَلٰى against نَفْسِهٖ himself بَصِیْرَةٌۙ (will be) a witness وَّ لَوْ Even if اَلْقٰى he presents مَعَاذِیْرَهٗؕ his excuses لَا Not تُحَرِّكْ move بِهٖ with it لِسَانَكَ your tongue لِتَعْجَلَ to hasten بِهٖؕ with it اِنَّ Indeed عَلَیْنَا upon Us جَمْعَهٗ (is) its collection وَ قُرْاٰنَهٗۚۖ and its recitation فَاِذَا And when قَرَاْنٰهُ We have recited it فَاتَّبِعْ then follow قُرْاٰنَهٗۚ its recitation ثُمَّ Then اِنَّ indeed عَلَیْنَا upon Us بَیَانَهٗؕ (is) its explanation 75. Al-Qiyamah Page 578 كَلَّا No! بَلْ But تُحِبُّوْنَ you love الْعَاجِلَةَۙ the immediate وَ تَذَرُوْنَ And leave الْاٰخِرَةَؕ the Hereafter وُجُوْهٌ Faces یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day نَّاضِرَةٌۙ (will be) radiant اِلٰى Towards رَبِّهَا their Lord نَاظِرَةٌۚ looking وَ وُجُوْهٌ And faces یَّوْمَىِٕذٍۭ that Day بَاسِرَةٌۙ (will be) distorted تَظُنُّ Thinking اَنْ that یُّفْعَلَ will be done بِهَا to them فَاقِرَةٌؕ backbreaking كَلَّاۤ No! اِذَا When بَلَغَتِ it reaches التَّرَاقِیَۙ the collar bones وَ قِیْلَ And it is said مَنْ ٚ Who رَاقٍۙ (will) cure وَّ ظَنَّ And he is certain اَنَّهُ that it الْفِرَاقُۙ (is) the parting وَ الْتَفَّتِ And is wound السَّاقُ the leg بِالسَّاقِۙ about the leg اِلٰى To رَبِّكَ your Lord یَوْمَىِٕذِ that Day لْمَسَاقُؕ۠ (will be) the driving فَلَا And not صَدَّقَ he accepted (the) truth وَ لَا and not صَلّٰىۙ he prayed وَ لٰكِنْ But كَذَّبَ he denied وَ تَوَلّٰىۙ and turned away ثُمَّ Then ذَهَبَ he went اِلٰۤی to اَهْلِهٖ his family یَتَمَطّٰىؕ swaggering اَوْلٰى Woe لَكَ to you فَاَوْلٰىۙ and woe! ثُمَّ Then اَوْلٰى woe لَكَ to you فَاَوْلٰىؕ and woe! اَیَحْسَبُ Does think الْاِنْسَانُ man اَنْ that یُّتْرَكَ he will be left سُدًیؕ neglected اَلَمْ Was not یَكُ he نُطْفَةً a sperm مِّنْ from مَّنِیٍّ semen یُّمْنٰىۙ emitted ثُمَّ Then كَانَ he was عَلَقَةً a clinging substance فَخَلَقَ then He created فَسَوّٰىۙ and proportioned فَجَعَلَ Then made مِنْهُ of him الزَّوْجَیْنِ two mates الذَّكَرَ (the) male وَ الْاُنْثٰىؕ and the female اَلَیْسَ Is not ذٰلِكَ [that] بِقٰدِرٍ (He) Able عَلٰۤی [over] اَنْ to یُّحْیِ َۧ give life الْمَوْتٰى۠ (to) the dead 76. Al-Insan بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ هَلْ Has اَتٰی (there) come عَلَی upon الْاِنْسَانِ man حِیْنٌ a period مِّنَ of الدَّهْرِ time لَمْ not یَكُنْ he was شَیْـًٔا a thing مَّذْكُوْرًا mentioned اِنَّا Indeed We خَلَقْنَا [We] created الْاِنْسَانَ man مِنْ from نُّطْفَةٍ a sperm-drop اَمْشَاجٍ ۖۗ mixture نَّبْتَلِیْهِ (that) We test him; فَجَعَلْنٰهُ so We made (for) him سَمِیْعًۢا hearing بَصِیْرًا and sight اِنَّا Indeed We هَدَیْنٰهُ guided him السَّبِیْلَ (to) the way اِمَّا whether شَاكِرًا (he) be grateful وَّ اِمَّا and whether كَفُوْرًا (he) be ungrateful اِنَّاۤ Indeed We اَعْتَدْنَا [We] have prepared لِلْكٰفِرِیْنَ for the disbelievers سَلٰسِلَاۡ chains وَ اَغْلٰلًا and shackles وَّ سَعِیْرًا and a Blazing Fire اِنَّ Indeed الْاَبْرَارَ the righteous یَشْرَبُوْنَ will drink مِنْ from كَاْسٍ a cup كَانَ is مِزَاجُهَا its mixture كَافُوْرًاۚ (of) Kafur 76. Al-Insan Page 579 عَیْنًا A spring یَّشْرَبُ will drink بِهَا from it عِبَادُ (the) slaves اللّٰهِ (of) Allah یُفَجِّرُوْنَهَا causing it to gush forth تَفْجِیْرًا abundantly یُوْفُوْنَ They fulfill بِالنَّذْرِ the vows وَ یَخَافُوْنَ and fear یَوْمًا a Day كَانَ (which) is شَرُّهٗ its evil مُسْتَطِیْرًا widespread وَ یُطْعِمُوْنَ And they feed الطَّعَامَ the food عَلٰی in spite of حُبِّهٖ love (for) it مِسْكِیْنًا (to the) needy وَّ یَتِیْمًا and (the) orphan وَّ اَسِیْرًا and (the) captive اِنَّمَا Only نُطْعِمُكُمْ we feed you لِوَجْهِ for (the) Countenance اللّٰهِ (of) Allah لَا Not نُرِیْدُ we desire مِنْكُمْ from you جَزَآءً any reward وَّ لَا and not شُكُوْرًا thanks اِنَّا Indeed we نَخَافُ fear مِنْ from رَّبِّنَا our Lord یَوْمًا a Day عَبُوْسًا harsh قَمْطَرِیْرًا and distressful فَوَقٰىهُمُ But will protect them اللّٰهُ Allah شَرَّ (from the) evil ذٰلِكَ (of) that الْیَوْمِ Day وَ لَقّٰىهُمْ and will cause them to meet نَضْرَةً radiance وَّ سُرُوْرًاۚ and happiness وَ جَزٰىهُمْ And will reward them بِمَا because صَبَرُوْا they were patient جَنَّةً (with) a Garden وَّ حَرِیْرًاۙ and silk مُّتَّكِـِٕیْنَ Reclining فِیْهَا therein عَلَی on الْاَرَآىِٕكِ ۚ couches لَا Not یَرَوْنَ they will see فِیْهَا therein شَمْسًا any sun وَّ لَا and not زَمْهَرِیْرًاۚ freezing cold وَ دَانِیَةً And near عَلَیْهِمْ above them ظِلٰلُهَا (are) its shades وَ ذُلِّلَتْ and will hang low قُطُوْفُهَا its cluster of fruits تَذْلِیْلًا very low وَ یُطَافُ And will be circulated عَلَیْهِمْ among them بِاٰنِیَةٍ vessels مِّنْ of فِضَّةٍ silver وَّ اَكْوَابٍ and cups كَانَتْ that are قَوَارِیْرَاۡؔ ۙ (of) crystal قَوَارِیْرَاۡؔ Crystal-clear مِنْ of فِضَّةٍ silver قَدَّرُوْهَا They will determine its تَقْدِیْرًا measure وَ یُسْقَوْنَ And they will be given to drink فِیْهَا therein كَاْسًا a cup كَانَ is مِزَاجُهَا its mixture زَنْجَبِیْلًاۚ (of) Zanjabil عَیْنًا A spring فِیْهَا therein تُسَمّٰی named سَلْسَبِیْلًا Salsabil وَ یَطُوْفُ And will circulate عَلَیْهِمْ among them وِلْدَانٌ young boys مُّخَلَّدُوْنَ ۚ made eternal اِذَا When رَاَیْتَهُمْ you see them حَسِبْتَهُمْ you would think them لُؤْلُؤًا (as) pearls مَّنْثُوْرًا scattered وَ اِذَا And when رَاَیْتَ you look ثَمَّ then رَاَیْتَ you will see نَعِیْمًا blessings وَّ مُلْكًا and a kingdom كَبِیْرًا great عٰلِیَهُمْ Upon them ثِیَابُ (will be) garments سُنْدُسٍ (of) fine silk خُضْرٌ green وَّ اِسْتَبْرَقٌ ؗ and heavy brocade وَّ حُلُّوْۤا And they will be adorned اَسَاوِرَ (with) bracelets مِنْ of فِضَّةٍ ۚ silver وَ سَقٰىهُمْ and will give them to drink رَبُّهُمْ their Lord شَرَابًا a drink طَهُوْرًا pure اِنَّ Indeed هٰذَا this كَانَ is لَكُمْ for you جَزَآءً a reward وَّ كَانَ and has been سَعْیُكُمْ your effort مَّشْكُوْرًا۠ appreciated اِنَّا Indeed We نَحْنُ [We] نَزَّلْنَا [We] revealed عَلَیْكَ to you الْقُرْاٰنَ the Quran تَنْزِیْلًاۚ progressively فَاصْبِرْ So be patient لِحُكْمِ for (the) Command رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord وَ لَا and (do) not تُطِعْ obey مِنْهُمْ from them اٰثِمًا any sinner اَوْ or كَفُوْرًاۚ disbeliever وَ اذْكُرِ And remember اسْمَ (the) name رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord بُكْرَةً morning وَّ اَصِیْلًاۖۚ and evening 76. Al-Insan Page 580 وَ مِنَ And of الَّیْلِ the night فَاسْجُدْ prostrate لَهٗ to Him وَ سَبِّحْهُ and glorify Him لَیْلًا a night طَوِیْلًا long اِنَّ Indeed هٰۤؤُلَآءِ these یُحِبُّوْنَ love الْعَاجِلَةَ the immediate وَ یَذَرُوْنَ and leave وَرَآءَهُمْ behind them یَوْمًا a Day ثَقِیْلًا grave نَحْنُ We خَلَقْنٰهُمْ created them وَ شَدَدْنَاۤ and We strengthened اَسْرَهُمْ ۚ their forms وَ اِذَا and when شِئْنَا We will بَدَّلْنَاۤ We can change اَمْثَالَهُمْ their likeness[es] تَبْدِیْلًا (with) a change اِنَّ Indeed هٰذِهٖ this تَذْكِرَةٌ ۚ (is) a reminder فَمَنْ so whoever شَآءَ wills اتَّخَذَ let him take اِلٰی to رَبِّهٖ his Lord سَبِیْلًا a way وَ مَا And not تَشَآءُوْنَ you will اِلَّاۤ except اَنْ that یَّشَآءَ wills اللّٰهُ ؕ Allah اِنَّ Indeed اللّٰهَ Allah كَانَ is عَلِیْمًا All-Knower حَكِیْمًاۗۖ All-Wise یُّدْخِلُ He admits مَنْ whom یَّشَآءُ He wills فِیْ to رَحْمَتِهٖ ؕ His mercy وَ الظّٰلِمِیْنَ but (for) the wrongdoers اَعَدَّ He has prepared لَهُمْ for them عَذَابًا a punishment اَلِیْمًا۠ painful 77. Al-Mursalat بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ وَ الْمُرْسَلٰتِ By the ones sent forth عُرْفًاۙ one after another فَالْعٰصِفٰتِ And the winds that blow عَصْفًاۙ violently وَّ النّٰشِرٰتِ And the ones that scatter نَشْرًاۙ far and wide فَالْفٰرِقٰتِ And those who separate فَرْقًاۙ (by the) Criterion فَالْمُلْقِیٰتِ And those who bring down ذِكْرًاۙ (the) Reminder عُذْرًا (As) justification اَوْ or نُذْرًاۙ warning اِنَّمَا Indeed what تُوْعَدُوْنَ you are promised لَوَاقِعٌؕ will surely occur فَاِذَا So when النُّجُوْمُ the stars طُمِسَتْۙ are obliterated وَ اِذَا And when السَّمَآءُ the heaven فُرِجَتْۙ is cleft asunder وَ اِذَا And when الْجِبَالُ the mountains نُسِفَتْۙ are blown away وَ اِذَا And when الرُّسُلُ the Messengers اُقِّتَتْؕ are gathered to their appointed time لِاَیِّ For what یَوْمٍ Day اُجِّلَتْؕ are (these) postponed لِیَوْمِ For (the) Day الْفَصْلِۚ (of) Judgment وَ مَاۤ And what اَدْرٰىكَ will make you know مَا what یَوْمُ (is the) Day الْفَصْلِؕ (of) the Judgment وَیْلٌ Woe یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ to the deniers اَلَمْ Did not نُهْلِكِ We destroy الْاَوَّلِیْنَؕ the former (people) ثُمَّ Then نُتْبِعُهُمُ We follow them up الْاٰخِرِیْنَ (with) the later ones كَذٰلِكَ Thus نَفْعَلُ We deal بِالْمُجْرِمِیْنَ with the criminals وَیْلٌ Woe یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ to the deniers 77. Al-Mursalat Page 581 اَلَمْ Did not نَخْلُقْكُّمْ We create you مِّنْ from مَّآءٍ a water مَّهِیْنٍۙ despicable فَجَعَلْنٰهُ Then We placed it فِیْ in قَرَارٍ an abode مَّكِیْنٍۙ safe اِلٰی For قَدَرٍ a period مَّعْلُوْمٍۙ known فَقَدَرْنَا ۖۗ So We measured فَنِعْمَ and Best الْقٰدِرُوْنَ (are We to) measure! وَیْلٌ Woe یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ to the deniers اَلَمْ Have not نَجْعَلِ We made الْاَرْضَ the earth كِفَاتًاۙ a receptacle اَحْیَآءً (For the) living وَّ اَمْوَاتًاۙ and (the) dead وَّ جَعَلْنَا And We made فِیْهَا therein رَوَاسِیَ firmly set mountains شٰمِخٰتٍ lofty وَّ اَسْقَیْنٰكُمْ and We gave you to drink مَّآءً water فُرَاتًاؕ sweet وَیْلٌ Woe یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ to the deniers اِنْطَلِقُوْۤا Proceed اِلٰی to مَا what كُنْتُمْ you used بِهٖ in it تُكَذِّبُوْنَۚ (to) deny اِنْطَلِقُوْۤا Proceed اِلٰی to ظِلٍّ a shadow ذِیْ having ثَلٰثِ three شُعَبٍۙ columns لَّا No ظَلِیْلٍ cool shade وَّ لَا and not یُغْنِیْ availing مِنَ against اللَّهَبِؕ the flame اِنَّهَا Indeed it تَرْمِیْ throws up بِشَرَرٍ sparks كَالْقَصْرِۚ as the fortress كَاَنَّهٗ As if they (were) جِمٰلَتٌ camels صُفْرٌؕ yellow وَیْلٌ Woe یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ to the deniers هٰذَا This یَوْمُ (is) a Day لَا not یَنْطِقُوْنَۙ they will speak وَ لَا And not یُؤْذَنُ will it be permitted لَهُمْ for them فَیَعْتَذِرُوْنَ to make excuses وَیْلٌ Woe یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ to the deniers هٰذَا This یَوْمُ (is the) Day الْفَصْلِ ۚ (of) Judgment; جَمَعْنٰكُمْ We have gathered you وَ الْاَوَّلِیْنَ and the former (people) فَاِنْ So if كَانَ is لَكُمْ for you كَیْدٌ a plan فَكِیْدُوْنِ then plan against Me وَیْلٌ Woe یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ۠ to the deniers اِنَّ Indeed الْمُتَّقِیْنَ the righteous فِیْ (will be) in ظِلٰلٍ shades وَّ عُیُوْنٍۙ and springs وَّ فَوَاكِهَ And fruits مِمَّا from what یَشْتَهُوْنَؕ they desire كُلُوْا Eat وَ اشْرَبُوْا and drink هَنِیْٓـًٔۢا (in) satisfaction بِمَا for what كُنْتُمْ you used تَعْمَلُوْنَ (to) do اِنَّا Indeed We كَذٰلِكَ thus نَجْزِی reward الْمُحْسِنِیْنَ the good-doers وَیْلٌ Woe یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ to the deniers كُلُوْا Eat وَ تَمَتَّعُوْا and enjoy yourselves قَلِیْلًا a little; اِنَّكُمْ indeed you مُّجْرِمُوْنَ (are) criminals وَیْلٌ Woe یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ to the deniers وَ اِذَا And when قِیْلَ it is said لَهُمُ to them ارْكَعُوْا Bow لَا not یَرْكَعُوْنَ they bow وَیْلٌ Woe یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَ to the deniers فَبِاَیِّ Then in what حَدِیْثٍۭ statement بَعْدَهٗ after it یُؤْمِنُوْنَ۠ will they believe 78. An-Naba Page 582 78. An-Naba بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ عَمَّ About what یَتَسَآءَلُوْنَۚ are they asking one another عَنِ About النَّبَاِ the News الْعَظِیْمِۙ the Great الَّذِیْ (About) which هُمْ they فِیْهِ (are) concerning it مُخْتَلِفُوْنَؕ (in) disagreement كَلَّا Nay! سَیَعْلَمُوْنَۙ Soon they will know ثُمَّ Then كَلَّا Nay! سَیَعْلَمُوْنَ soon they will know اَلَمْ Have not نَجْعَلِ We made الْاَرْضَ the earth مِهٰدًاۙ a resting place وَّ الْجِبَالَ And the mountains اَوْتَادًا۪ۙ (as) pegs وَّ خَلَقْنٰكُمْ And We created you اَزْوَاجًاۙ (in) pairs وَّ جَعَلْنَا And We made نَوْمَكُمْ your sleep سُبَاتًاۙ (for) rest وَّ جَعَلْنَا And We made الَّیْلَ the night لِبَاسًاۙ (as) covering وَّ جَعَلْنَا And We made النَّهَارَ the day مَعَاشًا۪ (for) livelihood وَّ بَنَیْنَا And We constructed فَوْقَكُمْ over you سَبْعًا seven شِدَادًاۙ strong وَّ جَعَلْنَا And We placed سِرَاجًا a lamp وَّهَّاجًا۪ۙ burning وَّ اَنْزَلْنَا And We sent down مِنَ from الْمُعْصِرٰتِ the rain clouds مَآءً water ثَجَّاجًاۙ pouring abundantly لِّنُخْرِجَ That We may bring forth بِهٖ thereby حَبًّا grain وَّ نَبَاتًاۙ and vegetation وَّ جَنّٰتٍ And gardens اَلْفَافًاؕ (of) thick foliage اِنَّ Indeed یَوْمَ (the) Day الْفَصْلِ (of) the Judgment كَانَ is مِیْقَاتًاۙ an appointed time یَّوْمَ (The) Day یُنْفَخُ is blown فِی in الصُّوْرِ the trumpet فَتَاْتُوْنَ and you will come forth اَفْوَاجًاۙ (in) crowds وَّ فُتِحَتِ And is opened السَّمَآءُ the heaven فَكَانَتْ and becomes اَبْوَابًاۙ gateways وَّ سُیِّرَتِ And are moved الْجِبَالُ the mountains فَكَانَتْ and become سَرَابًاؕ a mirage اِنَّ Indeed جَهَنَّمَ Hell كَانَتْ is مِرْصَادًا۪ۙ lying in wait لِّلطَّاغِیْنَ For the transgressors مَاٰبًاۙ a place of return لّٰبِثِیْنَ (They will) be remaining فِیْهَاۤ therein اَحْقَابًاۚ (for) ages لَا Not یَذُوْقُوْنَ they will taste فِیْهَا therein بَرْدًا coolness وَّ لَا and not شَرَابًاۙ any drink اِلَّا Except حَمِیْمًا scalding water وَّ غَسَّاقًاۙ and purulence جَزَآءً A recompense وِّفَاقًاؕ appropriate اِنَّهُمْ Indeed they كَانُوْا were لَا not یَرْجُوْنَ expecting حِسَابًاۙ an account وَّ كَذَّبُوْا And denied بِاٰیٰتِنَا Our Signs كِذَّابًاؕ (with) denial وَ كُلَّ And every شَیْءٍ thing اَحْصَیْنٰهُ We have enumerated it كِتٰبًاۙ (in) a Book فَذُوْقُوْا So taste فَلَنْ and never نَّزِیْدَكُمْ We will increase you اِلَّا except عَذَابًا۠ (in) punishment 78. An-Naba Page 583 اِنَّ Indeed لِلْمُتَّقِیْنَ for the righteous مَفَازًاۙ (is) success حَدَآىِٕقَ Gardens وَ اَعْنَابًاۙ and grapevines وَّ كَوَاعِبَ And splendid companions اَتْرَابًاۙ well-matched وَّ كَاْسًا And a cup دِهَاقًاؕ full لَا Not یَسْمَعُوْنَ they will hear فِیْهَا therein لَغْوًا any vain talk وَّ لَا and not كِذّٰبًاۚ any falsehood جَزَآءً (As) a reward مِّنْ from رَّبِّكَ your Lord عَطَآءً a gift حِسَابًاۙ (according to) account رَّبِّ Lord السَّمٰوٰتِ (of) the heavens وَ الْاَرْضِ and the earth وَ مَا and whatever بَیْنَهُمَا (is) between both of them الرَّحْمٰنِ the Most Gracious لَا not یَمْلِكُوْنَ they have power مِنْهُ from Him خِطَابًاۚ (to) address یَوْمَ (The) Day یَقُوْمُ will stand الرُّوْحُ the Spirit وَ الْمَلٰٓىِٕكَةُ and the Angels صَفًّا ۙۗؕ (in) rows لَّا not یَتَكَلَّمُوْنَ they will speak اِلَّا except مَنْ (one) who اَذِنَ permits لَهُ [for] him الرَّحْمٰنُ the Most Gracious وَ قَالَ and he (will) say صَوَابًا (what is) correct ذٰلِكَ That الْیَوْمُ (is) the Day الْحَقُّ ۚ the True فَمَنْ So whoever شَآءَ wills اتَّخَذَ let him take اِلٰی towards رَبِّهٖ his Lord مَاٰبًا a return اِنَّاۤ Indeed We اَنْذَرْنٰكُمْ [We] have warned you عَذَابًا (of) a punishment قَرِیْبًا ۖۚ۬ near یَّوْمَ (the) Day یَنْظُرُ will see الْمَرْءُ the man مَا what قَدَّمَتْ have sent forth یَدٰهُ his hands وَ یَقُوْلُ and will say الْكٰفِرُ the disbeliever یٰلَیْتَنِیْ O I wish كُنْتُ I were تُرٰبًا۠ dust! 79. An-Nazi'at بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ وَ النّٰزِعٰتِ By those who extract غَرْقًاۙ violently وَّ النّٰشِطٰتِ And those who draw out نَشْطًاۙ gently وَّ السّٰبِحٰتِ And those who glide سَبْحًاۙ swimming فَالسّٰبِقٰتِ And those who race each other سَبْقًاۙ (in) a race فَالْمُدَبِّرٰتِ And those who arrange اَمْرًاۘ (the) matter یَوْمَ (The) Day تَرْجُفُ will quake الرَّاجِفَةُۙ the quaking one تَتْبَعُهَا Follows it الرَّادِفَةُؕ the subsequent قُلُوْبٌ Hearts یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day وَّاجِفَةٌۙ will palpitate اَبْصَارُهَا Their eyes خَاشِعَةٌۘ humbled یَقُوْلُوْنَ They say ءَاِنَّا Will we لَمَرْدُوْدُوْنَ indeed be returned فِی to الْحَافِرَةِؕ the former state ءَاِذَا What! When كُنَّا we are عِظَامًا bones نَّخِرَةًؕ decayed قَالُوْا They say تِلْكَ This اِذًا then كَرَّةٌ (would be) a return خَاسِرَةٌۘ losing فَاِنَّمَا Then only هِیَ it زَجْرَةٌ (will be) a shout وَّاحِدَةٌۙ single فَاِذَا And behold! هُمْ They بِالسَّاهِرَةِؕ (will be) awakened هَلْ Has اَتٰىكَ (there) come to you حَدِیْثُ (the) story مُوْسٰیۘ (of) Musa 79. An-Nazi'at Page 584 اِذْ When نَادٰىهُ called him رَبُّهٗ his Lord بِالْوَادِ in the valley الْمُقَدَّسِ the sacred طُوًیۚ (of) Tuwa اِذْهَبْ Go اِلٰی to فِرْعَوْنَ Firaun اِنَّهٗ Indeed he طَغٰیؗۖ (has) transgressed فَقُلْ And say هَلْ Would لَّكَ [for] you اِلٰۤی [until] اَنْ [that] تَزَكّٰیۙ purify yourself وَ اَهْدِیَكَ And I will guide you اِلٰی to رَبِّكَ your Lord فَتَخْشٰیۚ so you would fear فَاَرٰىهُ Then he showed him الْاٰیَةَ the sign الْكُبْرٰیؗۖ the great فَكَذَّبَ But he denied وَعَصٰیؗۖ and disobeyed ثُمَّ Then اَدْبَرَ he turned his back یَسْعٰیؗۖ striving فَحَشَرَ And he gathered فَنَادٰیؗۖ and called out فَقَالَ Then he said اَنَا I am رَبُّكُمُ your Lord الْاَعْلٰیؗۖ the Most High فَاَخَذَهُ So seized him اللّٰهُ Allah نَكَالَ (with) an exemplary punishment الْاٰخِرَةِ (for) the last وَ الْاُوْلٰیؕ and the first اِنَّ Indeed فِیْ in ذٰلِكَ that لَعِبْرَةً surely (is) a lesson لِّمَنْ for whoever یَّخْشٰیؕ۠ fears ءَاَنْتُمْ Are you اَشَدُّ a more difficult خَلْقًا creation اَمِ or السَّمَآءُ ؕ the heaven بَنٰىهَاۥ He constructed it رَفَعَ He raised سَمْكَهَا its ceiling فَسَوّٰىهَاۙ and proportioned it وَ اَغْطَشَ And He darkened لَیْلَهَا its night وَ اَخْرَجَ and brought out ضُحٰىهَا۪ its brightness وَ الْاَرْضَ And the earth بَعْدَ after ذٰلِكَ that دَحٰىهَاؕ He spread it اَخْرَجَ He brought forth مِنْهَا from it مَآءَهَا its water وَ مَرْعٰىهَا۪ and its pasture وَ الْجِبَالَ And the mountains اَرْسٰىهَاۙ He made them firm مَتَاعًا (As) a provision لَّكُمْ for you وَ لِاَنْعَامِكُمْؕ and for your cattle فَاِذَا But when جَآءَتِ comes الطَّآمَّةُ the Overwhelming Calamity الْكُبْرٰیؗۖ the great یَوْمَ (The) Day یَتَذَكَّرُ will remember الْاِنْسَانُ man مَا what سَعٰیۙ he strove (for) وَ بُرِّزَتِ And will be made manifest الْجَحِیْمُ the Hell-Fire لِمَنْ to (him) who یَّرٰی sees فَاَمَّا Then as for مَنْ (him) who طَغٰیۙ transgressed وَ اٰثَرَ And preferred الْحَیٰوةَ the life الدُّنْیَاۙ (of) the world فَاِنَّ Then indeed الْجَحِیْمَ the Hell-Fire هِیَ it الْمَاْوٰیؕ (is) the refuge وَ اَمَّا But as for مَنْ (him) who خَافَ feared مَقَامَ standing رَبِّهٖ (before) his Lord وَ نَهَی and restrained النَّفْسَ his soul عَنِ from الْهَوٰیۙ the vain desires فَاِنَّ Then indeed الْجَنَّةَ Paradise هِیَ it (is) الْمَاْوٰیؕ the refuge یَسْـَٔلُوْنَكَ They ask you عَنِ about السَّاعَةِ the Hour اَیَّانَ when مُرْسٰىهَاؕ (is) its arrival فِیْمَ In what اَنْتَ (are) you مِنْ [of] ذِكْرٰىهَاؕ (to) mention it اِلٰی To رَبِّكَ your Lord مُنْتَهٰىهَاؕ (is) its finality اِنَّمَاۤ Only اَنْتَ you مُنْذِرُ (are) a warner مَنْ (for him) who یَّخْشٰىهَاؕ fears it كَاَنَّهُمْ As though they یَوْمَ (the) Day یَرَوْنَهَا they see it لَمْ not یَلْبَثُوْۤا they had remained اِلَّا except عَشِیَّةً an evening اَوْ or ضُحٰىهَا۠ a morning thereof 80. Abasa Page 585 80. Abasa بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ عَبَسَ He frowned وَ تَوَلّٰۤیۙ and turned away اَنْ Because جَآءَهُ came to him الْاَعْمٰىؕ the blind man وَ مَا But what یُدْرِیْكَ would make you know لَعَلَّهٗ that he might یَزَّكّٰۤیۙ purify himself اَوْ Or یَذَّكَّرُ be reminded فَتَنْفَعَهُ so would benefit him الذِّكْرٰىؕ the reminder اَمَّا As for مَنِ (him) who اسْتَغْنٰىۙ considers himself free from need فَاَنْتَ So you لَهٗ to him تَصَدّٰىؕ give attention وَ مَا And not عَلَیْكَ upon you اَلَّا that not یَزَّكّٰىؕ he purifies himself وَ اَمَّا But as for مَنْ (he) who جَآءَكَ came to you یَسْعٰىۙ striving وَ هُوَ While he یَخْشٰىۙ fears فَاَنْتَ But you عَنْهُ from him تَلَهّٰىۚ (are) distracted كَلَّاۤ Nay! اِنَّهَا Indeed it تَذْكِرَةٌۚ (is) a reminder فَمَنْ So whosoever شَآءَ wills ذَكَرَهٗۘ may remember it فِیْ In صُحُفٍ sheets مُّكَرَّمَةٍۙ honored مَّرْفُوْعَةٍ Exalted مُّطَهَّرَةٍۭۙ purified بِاَیْدِیْ In (the) hands سَفَرَةٍۙ (of) scribes كِرَامٍۭ Noble بَرَرَةٍؕ dutiful قُتِلَ Is destroyed الْاِنْسَانُ the man مَاۤ how اَكْفَرَهٗؕ ungrateful is he! مِنْ From اَیِّ what شَیْءٍ thing خَلَقَهٗؕ He created him مِنْ From نُّطْفَةٍ ؕ a sperm drop خَلَقَهٗ He created him فَقَدَّرَهٗۙ then He proportioned him ثُمَّ Then السَّبِیْلَ the way یَسَّرَهٗۙ He made easy for him ثُمَّ Then اَمَاتَهٗ He causes him to die فَاَقْبَرَهٗۙ and provides a grave for him ثُمَّ Then اِذَا when شَآءَ He wills اَنْشَرَهٗؕ He will resurrect him كَلَّا Nay! لَمَّا Not یَقْضِ he has accomplished مَاۤ what اَمَرَهٗؕ He commanded him فَلْیَنْظُرِ Then let look الْاِنْسَانُ the man اِلٰى at طَعَامِهٖۤۙ his food اَنَّا We صَبَبْنَا [We] poured down الْمَآءَ the water صَبًّاۙ (in) abundance ثُمَّ Then شَقَقْنَا We cleaved الْاَرْضَ the earth شَقًّاۙ splitting فَاَنْۢبَتْنَا Then We caused to grow فِیْهَا therein حَبًّاۙ grain وَّ عِنَبًا And grapes وَّ قَضْبًاۙ and green vegetables وَّ زَیْتُوْنًا And olive وَّ نَخْلًاۙ and date-palms وَّ حَدَآىِٕقَ And gardens غُلْبًاۙ (of) thick foliage وَّ فَاكِهَةً And fruits وَّ اَبًّاۙ and grass مَّتَاعًا (As) a provision لَّكُمْ for you وَ لِاَنْعَامِكُمْؕ and for your cattle فَاِذَا But when جَآءَتِ comes الصَّآخَّةُؗ the Deafening Blast یَوْمَ (The) Day یَفِرُّ will flee الْمَرْءُ a man مِنْ from اَخِیْهِۙ his brother وَ اُمِّهٖ And his mother وَ اَبِیْهِۙ and his father وَ صَاحِبَتِهٖ And his wife وَ بَنِیْهِؕ and his children لِكُلِّ For every امْرِئٍ man مِّنْهُمْ among them یَوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day شَاْنٌ (will be) a matter یُّغْنِیْهِؕ occupying him وُجُوْهٌ Faces یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day مُّسْفِرَةٌۙ (will be) bright ضَاحِكَةٌ Laughing مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌۚ rejoicing at good news وَ وُجُوْهٌ And faces یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day عَلَیْهَا upon them غَبَرَةٌۙ (will be) dust تَرْهَقُهَا Will cover them قَتَرَةٌؕ darkness اُولٰٓىِٕكَ Those هُمُ [they] الْكَفَرَةُ (are) the disbelievers الْفَجَرَةُ۠ the wicked ones 81. At-Takwir Page 586 81. At-Takwir بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ اِذَا When الشَّمْسُ the sun كُوِّرَتْ۪ۙ is wrapped up وَ اِذَا And when النُّجُوْمُ the stars انْكَدَرَتْ۪ۙ fall losing their luster وَ اِذَا And when الْجِبَالُ the mountains سُیِّرَتْ۪ۙ are moved away وَ اِذَا And when الْعِشَارُ the full-term she-camels عُطِّلَتْ۪ۙ (are) left untended; وَ اِذَا And when الْوُحُوْشُ the wild beasts حُشِرَتْ۪ۙ are gathered وَ اِذَا And when الْبِحَارُ the seas سُجِّرَتْ۪ۙ are made to overflow وَ اِذَا And when النُّفُوْسُ the souls زُوِّجَتْ۪ۙ are paired وَ اِذَا And when الْمَوْءٗدَةُ the female infant buried alive سُىِٕلَتْ۪ۙ is asked بِاَیِّ For what ذَنْۢبٍ sin قُتِلَتْۚ she was killed وَ اِذَا And when الصُّحُفُ the pages نُشِرَتْ۪ۙ are laid open وَ اِذَا And when السَّمَآءُ the sky كُشِطَتْ۪ۙ is stripped away وَ اِذَا And when الْجَحِیْمُ the Hellfire سُعِّرَتْ۪ۙ is set ablaze وَ اِذَا And when الْجَنَّةُ Paradise اُزْلِفَتْ۪ۙ is brought near عَلِمَتْ Will know نَفْسٌ a soul مَّاۤ what اَحْضَرَتْؕ it has brought فَلَاۤ But nay! اُقْسِمُ I swear بِالْخُنَّسِۙ by the retreating planets الْجَوَارِ Those that run الْكُنَّسِۙ (and) disappear وَ الَّیْلِ And the night اِذَا when عَسْعَسَۙ it departs وَ الصُّبْحِ And the dawn اِذَا when تَنَفَّسَۙ it breathes اِنَّهٗ Indeed it لَقَوْلُ (is) surely a word رَسُوْلٍ (of) a Messenger كَرِیْمٍۙ noble ذِیْ Possessor of قُوَّةٍ power عِنْدَ with ذِی (the) Owner of الْعَرْشِ the Throne مَكِیْنٍۙ secure مُّطَاعٍ One to be obeyed ثَمَّ and اَمِیْنٍؕ trustworthy وَ مَا And not صَاحِبُكُمْ (is) your companion بِمَجْنُوْنٍۚ mad وَ لَقَدْ And certainly رَاٰهُ he saw him بِالْاُفُقِ in the horizon الْمُبِیْنِۚ the clear وَ مَا And not هُوَ he (is) عَلَی on الْغَیْبِ the unseen بِضَنِیْنٍۚ a withholder وَ مَا And not هُوَ it بِقَوْلِ (is the) word شَیْطٰنٍ (of) Shaitaan رَّجِیْمٍۙ accursed فَاَیْنَ So where تَذْهَبُوْنَؕ are you going اِنْ Not هُوَ it اِلَّا (is) except ذِكْرٌ a reminder لِّلْعٰلَمِیْنَۙ to the worlds لِمَنْ For whoever شَآءَ wills مِنْكُمْ among you اَنْ to یَّسْتَقِیْمَؕ take a straight way وَ مَا And not تَشَآءُوْنَ you will اِلَّاۤ except اَنْ that یَّشَآءَ wills اللّٰهُ Allah رَبُّ Lord الْعٰلَمِیْنَ۠ (of) the worlds 82. Al-Infitar Page 587 82. Al-Infitar بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ اِذَا When السَّمَآءُ the sky انْفَطَرَتْۙ (is) cleft asunder وَ اِذَا And when الْكَوَاكِبُ the stars انْتَثَرَتْۙ scatter وَ اِذَا And when الْبِحَارُ the seas فُجِّرَتْۙ are made to gush forth وَ اِذَا And when الْقُبُوْرُ the graves بُعْثِرَتْۙ are overturned عَلِمَتْ Will know نَفْسٌ a soul مَّا what قَدَّمَتْ it has sent forth وَ اَخَّرَتْؕ and left behind یٰۤاَیُّهَا O الْاِنْسَانُ man! مَا What غَرَّكَ has deceived you بِرَبِّكَ concerning your Lord الْكَرِیْمِۙ the Most Noble الَّذِیْ Who خَلَقَكَ created you فَسَوّٰىكَ then fashioned you فَعَدَلَكَۙ then balanced you فِیْۤ In اَیِّ whatever صُوْرَةٍ form مَّا that شَآءَ He willed رَكَّبَكَؕ He assembled you كَلَّا Nay! بَلْ But تُكَذِّبُوْنَ you deny بِالدِّیْنِۙ the Judgment وَ اِنَّ And indeed عَلَیْكُمْ over you لَحٰفِظِیْنَۙ (are) surely guardians كِرَامًا Noble كَاتِبِیْنَۙ recording یَعْلَمُوْنَ They know مَا whatever تَفْعَلُوْنَ you do اِنَّ Indeed الْاَبْرَارَ the righteous لَفِیْ (will be) surely in نَعِیْمٍۚ bliss وَ اِنَّ And indeed الْفُجَّارَ the wicked لَفِیْ (will be) surely in جَحِیْمٍۚۖ Hellfire یَّصْلَوْنَهَا They will burn (in) it یَوْمَ (on the) Day الدِّیْنِ (of) the Judgment وَ مَا And not هُمْ they عَنْهَا from it بِغَآىِٕبِیْنَؕ (will be) absent وَ مَاۤ And what اَدْرٰىكَ can make you know مَا what یَوْمُ (is the) Day الدِّیْنِۙ (of) the Judgment ثُمَّ Then مَاۤ what اَدْرٰىكَ can make you know مَا what یَوْمُ (is the) Day الدِّیْنِؕ (of) the Judgment یَوْمَ (The) Day لَا not تَمْلِكُ will have power نَفْسٌ a soul لِّنَفْسٍ for a soul شَیْـًٔا ؕ anything وَ الْاَمْرُ and the Command یَوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلّٰهِ۠ (will be) with Allah 83. Al-Mutaffifin بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ وَیْلٌ Woe لِّلْمُطَفِّفِیْنَۙ to those who give less الَّذِیْنَ Those who اِذَا when اكْتَالُوْا they take a measure عَلَی from النَّاسِ the people یَسْتَوْفُوْنَؗۖ they take in full وَ اِذَا But when كَالُوْهُمْ they give by measure (to) them اَوْ or وَّ زَنُوْهُمْ they weigh (for) them یُخْسِرُوْنَؕ they give less اَلَا Do not یَظُنُّ think اُولٰٓىِٕكَ those اَنَّهُمْ that they مَّبْعُوْثُوْنَۙ (will be) resurrected لِیَوْمٍ For a Day عَظِیْمٍۙ Great یَّوْمَ (The) Day یَقُوْمُ will stand النَّاسُ mankind لِرَبِّ before (the) Lord الْعٰلَمِیْنَؕ (of) the worlds 83. Al-Mutaffifin Page 588 كَلَّاۤ Nay! اِنَّ Indeed كِتٰبَ (the) record الْفُجَّارِ (of) the wicked لَفِیْ (is) surely in سِجِّیْنٍؕ Sijjin وَ مَاۤ And what اَدْرٰىكَ can make you know مَا what سِجِّیْنٌؕ (is) Sijjin كِتٰبٌ A book مَّرْقُوْمٌؕ written وَیْلٌ Woe یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لِّلْمُكَذِّبِیْنَۙ to the deniers الَّذِیْنَ Those who یُكَذِّبُوْنَ deny بِیَوْمِ (the) Day الدِّیْنِؕ (of) the Judgment وَ مَا And not یُكَذِّبُ can deny بِهٖۤ [of] it اِلَّا except كُلُّ every مُعْتَدٍ transgressor اَثِیْمٍۙ sinful اِذَا When تُتْلٰی are recited عَلَیْهِ to him اٰیٰتُنَا Our Verses قَالَ he says اَسَاطِیْرُ Stories الْاَوَّلِیْنَؕ (of) the former (people) كَلَّا Nay! بَلْ ٚ But رَانَ (the) stain has covered عَلٰی [over] قُلُوْبِهِمْ their hearts مَّا (for) what كَانُوْا they were یَكْسِبُوْنَ earning كَلَّاۤ Nay! اِنَّهُمْ Indeed they عَنْ from رَّبِّهِمْ their Lord یَوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day لَّمَحْجُوْبُوْنَؕ surely will be partitioned ثُمَّ Then اِنَّهُمْ indeed they لَصَالُوا (surely) will burn الْجَحِیْمِؕ (in) the Hellfire ثُمَّ Then یُقَالُ it will be said هٰذَا This الَّذِیْ (is) what كُنْتُمْ you used (to) بِهٖ [of it] تُكَذِّبُوْنَؕ deny كَلَّاۤ Nay! اِنَّ Indeed كِتٰبَ (the) record الْاَبْرَارِ (of) the righteous لَفِیْ (will be) surely in عِلِّیِّیْنَؕ Illiyin وَ مَاۤ And what اَدْرٰىكَ can make you know مَا what عِلِّیُّوْنَؕ (is) Illiyun كِتٰبٌ A book مَّرْقُوْمٌۙ written یَّشْهَدُهُ Witness it الْمُقَرَّبُوْنَۙ those brought near اِنَّ Indeed الْاَبْرَارَ the righteous لَفِیْ (will be) surely in نَعِیْمٍۙ bliss عَلَی On الْاَرَآىِٕكِ thrones یَنْظُرُوْنَۙ observing تَعْرِفُ You will recognize فِیْ in وُجُوْهِهِمْ their faces نَضْرَةَ (the) radiance النَّعِیْمِۚ (of) bliss یُسْقَوْنَ They will be given to drink مِنْ of رَّحِیْقٍ a pure wine مَّخْتُوْمٍۙ sealed خِتٰمُهٗ Its seal مِسْكٌ ؕ (will be of) musk وَ فِیْ And for ذٰلِكَ that فَلْیَتَنَافَسِ let aspire الْمُتَنَافِسُوْنَؕ the aspirers وَ مِزَاجُهٗ And its mixture مِنْ (is) of تَسْنِیْمٍۙ Tasnim عَیْنًا A spring یَّشْرَبُ will drink بِهَا from it الْمُقَرَّبُوْنَؕ those brought near اِنَّ Indeed الَّذِیْنَ those who اَجْرَمُوْا committed crimes كَانُوْا used (to) مِنَ at الَّذِیْنَ those who اٰمَنُوْا believed یَضْحَكُوْنَؗۖ laugh وَ اِذَا And when مَرُّوْا they passed بِهِمْ by them یَتَغَامَزُوْنَؗۖ they winked at one another وَ اِذَا And when انْقَلَبُوْۤا they returned اِلٰۤی to اَهْلِهِمُ their people انْقَلَبُوْا they would return فَكِهِیْنَؗۖ jesting وَ اِذَا And when رَاَوْهُمْ they saw them قَالُوْۤا they said اِنَّ Indeed هٰۤؤُلَآءِ these لَضَآلُّوْنَۙ surely have gone astray وَ مَاۤ But not اُرْسِلُوْا they had been sent عَلَیْهِمْ over them حٰفِظِیْنَؕ (as) guardians فَالْیَوْمَ So today الَّذِیْنَ those who اٰمَنُوْا believed مِنَ at الْكُفَّارِ the disbelievers یَضْحَكُوْنَۙ they will laugh 83. Al-Mutaffifin Page 589 عَلَی On الْاَرَآىِٕكِ ۙ the thrones یَنْظُرُوْنَؕ observing هَلْ Have (not) ثُوِّبَ been paid الْكُفَّارُ the disbelievers مَا (for) what كَانُوْا they used (to) یَفْعَلُوْنَ۠ do 84. Al-Inshiqaq بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ اِذَا When السَّمَآءُ the sky انْشَقَّتْۙ is split asunder وَ اَذِنَتْ And has listened لِرَبِّهَا to its Lord وَ حُقَّتْۙ and was obligated وَ اِذَا And when الْاَرْضُ the earth مُدَّتْۙ is spread وَ اَلْقَتْ And has cast out مَا what فِیْهَا (is) in it وَ تَخَلَّتْۙ and becomes empty وَ اَذِنَتْ And has listened لِرَبِّهَا to its Lord وَ حُقَّتْؕ and was obligated یٰۤاَیُّهَا O الْاِنْسَانُ mankind اِنَّكَ Indeed, you كَادِحٌ (are) laboring اِلٰی to رَبِّكَ your Lord كَدْحًا (with) exertion فَمُلٰقِیْهِۚ and you (will) meet Him فَاَمَّا Then as for مَنْ (him) who اُوْتِیَ is given كِتٰبَهٗ his record بِیَمِیْنِهٖۙ in his right hand فَسَوْفَ Soon یُحَاسَبُ his account will be taken حِسَابًا an account یَّسِیْرًاۙ easy وَّ یَنْقَلِبُ And he will return اِلٰۤی to اَهْلِهٖ his people مَسْرُوْرًاؕ happily وَ اَمَّا But as for مَنْ (him) who اُوْتِیَ is given كِتٰبَهٗ his record وَرَآءَ behind ظَهْرِهٖۙ his back فَسَوْفَ Soon یَدْعُوْا he will call ثُبُوْرًاۙ (for) destruction وَّ یَصْلٰی And he will burn سَعِیْرًاؕ (in) a Blaze اِنَّهٗ Indeed he كَانَ had been فِیْۤ among اَهْلِهٖ his people مَسْرُوْرًاؕ happy اِنَّهٗ Indeed he ظَنَّ (had) thought اَنْ that لَّنْ never یَّحُوْرَۚۛ he would return بَلٰۤی ۛۚ Nay! اِنَّ Indeed رَبَّهٗ his Lord كَانَ was بِهٖ of him بَصِیْرًاؕ seeing فَلَاۤ But nay! اُقْسِمُ I swear بِالشَّفَقِۙ by the twilight glow وَ الَّیْلِ And the night وَ مَا and what وَسَقَۙ it envelops وَ الْقَمَرِ And the moon اِذَا when اتَّسَقَۙ it becomes full لَتَرْكَبُنَّ You will surely embark طَبَقًا (to) stage عَنْ from طَبَقٍؕ stage فَمَا So what لَهُمْ (is) for them لَا not یُؤْمِنُوْنَۙ they believe وَ اِذَا And when قُرِئَ is recited عَلَیْهِمُ to them الْقُرْاٰنُ the Quran لَا not یَسْجُدُوْنَؕ۩ they prostrate بَلِ Nay! الَّذِیْنَ Those who كَفَرُوْا disbelieved یُكَذِّبُوْنَؗۖ deny وَ اللّٰهُ And Allah اَعْلَمُ (is) most knowing بِمَا of what یُوْعُوْنَؗۖ they keep within themselves فَبَشِّرْهُمْ So give them tidings بِعَذَابٍ of a punishment اَلِیْمٍۙ painful اِلَّا Except الَّذِیْنَ those who اٰمَنُوْا believe وَ عَمِلُوا and do الصّٰلِحٰتِ righteous deeds لَهُمْ For them اَجْرٌ (is) a reward غَیْرُ never مَمْنُوْنٍ۠ ending 85. Al-Buruj Page 590 85. Al-Buruj بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ وَ السَّمَآءِ By the sky ذَاتِ containing الْبُرُوْجِۙ the constellations وَ الْیَوْمِ And the Day الْمَوْعُوْدِۙ Promised وَ شَاهِدٍ And (the) witness وَّ مَشْهُوْدٍؕ and what is witnessed قُتِلَ Destroyed were اَصْحٰبُ (the) companions الْاُخْدُوْدِۙ (of) the pit النَّارِ (Of) the fire ذَاتِ full الْوَقُوْدِۙ (of) the fuel اِذْ When هُمْ they عَلَیْهَا by it قُعُوْدٌۙ (were) sitting وَّ هُمْ And they عَلٰی over مَا what یَفْعَلُوْنَ they were doing بِالْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ to the believers شُهُوْدٌؕ witnesses وَ مَا And not نَقَمُوْا they resented مِنْهُمْ [of] them اِلَّاۤ except اَنْ that یُّؤْمِنُوْا they believed بِاللّٰهِ in Allah الْعَزِیْزِ the All-Mighty الْحَمِیْدِۙ the Praiseworthy الَّذِیْ The One Who لَهٗ for Him مُلْكُ (is) the dominion السَّمٰوٰتِ (of) the heavens وَ الْاَرْضِ ؕ and the earth; وَ اللّٰهُ and Allah عَلٰی on كُلِّ every شَیْءٍ thing شَهِیْدٌؕ (is) a Witness اِنَّ Indeed الَّذِیْنَ those who فَتَنُوا persecuted الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ the believing men وَ الْمُؤْمِنٰتِ and the believing women ثُمَّ then لَمْ not یَتُوْبُوْا they repented فَلَهُمْ then for them عَذَابُ (is) the punishment جَهَنَّمَ (of) Hell وَ لَهُمْ and for them عَذَابُ (is the) punishment الْحَرِیْقِؕ (of) the Burning Fire اِنَّ Indeed الَّذِیْنَ those who اٰمَنُوْا believe وَ عَمِلُوا and do الصّٰلِحٰتِ the righteous deeds لَهُمْ for them جَنّٰتٌ (will be) Gardens تَجْرِیْ flow مِنْ from تَحْتِهَا underneath it الْاَنْهٰرُ ؔؕ۬ the rivers ذٰلِكَ That الْفَوْزُ (is) the success الْكَبِیْرُؕ the great اِنَّ Indeed بَطْشَ (the) Grip رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord لَشَدِیْدٌؕ (is) surely strong اِنَّهٗ Indeed He هُوَ He یُبْدِئُ originates وَ یُعِیْدُۚ and repeats وَ هُوَ And He الْغَفُوْرُ (is) the Oft-Forgiving الْوَدُوْدُۙ the Most Loving ذُو Owner (of) الْعَرْشِ the Throne الْمَجِیْدُۙ the Glorious فَعَّالٌ Doer لِّمَا of what یُرِیْدُؕ He intends هَلْ Has اَتٰىكَ come to you حَدِیْثُ (the) story الْجُنُوْدِۙ (of) the hosts فِرْعَوْنَ Firaun وَ ثَمُوْدَؕ and Thamud بَلِ Nay! الَّذِیْنَ Those who كَفَرُوْا disbelieve فِیْ (are) in تَكْذِیْبٍۙ denial وَّ اللّٰهُ But Allah مِنْ from وَّرَآىِٕهِمْ behind them مُّحِیْطٌۚ encompasses بَلْ Nay! هُوَ It قُرْاٰنٌ (is) a Quran مَّجِیْدٌۙ Glorious فِیْ In لَوْحٍ a Tablet مَّحْفُوْظٍ۠ Guarded 86. At-Tariq Page 591 86. At-Tariq بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ وَ السَّمَآءِ By the sky وَ الطَّارِقِۙ and the night comer وَ مَاۤ And what اَدْرٰىكَ can make you know مَا what الطَّارِقُۙ the night comer (is) النَّجْمُ (It is) the star الثَّاقِبُۙ the piercing! اِنْ Not كُلُّ (is) every نَفْسٍ soul لَّمَّا but عَلَیْهَا over it حَافِظٌؕ (is) a protector فَلْیَنْظُرِ So let see الْاِنْسَانُ man مِمَّ from what خُلِقَؕ he is created خُلِقَ He is created مِنْ from مَّآءٍ a water دَافِقٍۙ ejected یَّخْرُجُ Coming forth مِنْۢ from بَیْنِ between الصُّلْبِ the backbone وَ التَّرَآىِٕبِؕ and the ribs اِنَّهٗ Indeed He عَلٰی to رَجْعِهٖ return him لَقَادِرٌؕ (is) Able یَوْمَ (The) Day تُبْلَی will be tested السَّرَآىِٕرُۙ the secrets فَمَا Then not لَهٗ (is) for him مِنْ any قُوَّةٍ power وَّ لَا and not نَاصِرٍؕ any helper وَ السَّمَآءِ By the sky ذَاتِ which الرَّجْعِۙ returns وَ الْاَرْضِ And the earth ذَاتِ which الصَّدْعِۙ cracks open اِنَّهٗ Indeed it لَقَوْلٌ (is) surely a Word فَصْلٌۙ decisive وَّ مَا And not هُوَ it بِالْهَزْلِؕ (is) for amusement اِنَّهُمْ Indeed they یَكِیْدُوْنَ are plotting كَیْدًاۙ a plot وَّ اَكِیْدُ But I am planning كَیْدًاۚۖ a plan فَمَهِّلِ So give respite الْكٰفِرِیْنَ (to) the disbelievers اَمْهِلْهُمْ Give respite to them رُوَیْدًا۠ little 87. Al-A'la بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ سَبِّحِ Glorify اسْمَ (the) name رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord الْاَعْلَیۙ the Most High الَّذِیْ The One Who خَلَقَ created فَسَوّٰی۪ۙ then proportioned وَ الَّذِیْ And the One Who قَدَّرَ measured فَهَدٰی۪ۙ then guided وَ الَّذِیْۤ And the One Who اَخْرَجَ brings forth الْمَرْعٰی۪ۙ the pasture فَجَعَلَهٗ And then made it غُثَآءً stubble اَحْوٰیؕ dark سَنُقْرِئُكَ We will make you recite فَلَا so not تَنْسٰۤیۙ you will forget اِلَّا Except مَا what شَآءَ wills اللّٰهُ ؕ Allah اِنَّهٗ Indeed, He یَعْلَمُ knows الْجَهْرَ the manifest وَ مَا and what یَخْفٰیؕ is hidden وَ نُیَسِّرُكَ And We will ease you لِلْیُسْرٰیۚۖ to the ease فَذَكِّرْ So remind اِنْ if نَّفَعَتِ benefits الذِّكْرٰیؕ the reminder سَیَذَّكَّرُ He will pay heed مَنْ (one) who یَّخْشٰیۙ fears (Allah) وَ یَتَجَنَّبُهَا And will avoid it الْاَشْقَیۙ the wretched one الَّذِیْ The one who یَصْلَی will burn النَّارَ (in) the Fire الْكُبْرٰیۚ [the] great ثُمَّ Then لَا not یَمُوْتُ he will die فِیْهَا therein وَ لَا and not یَحْیٰیؕ will live قَدْ Certainly اَفْلَحَ has succeeded مَنْ (one) who تَزَكّٰیۙ purifies (himself) وَ ذَكَرَ And remembers اسْمَ (the) name رَبِّهٖ (of) his Lord فَصَلّٰیؕ and prays 87. Al-A'la Page 592 بَلْ Nay! تُؤْثِرُوْنَ You prefer الْحَیٰوةَ the life الدُّنْیَاؗۖ (of) the world وَ الْاٰخِرَةُ While the Hereafter خَیْرٌ (is) better وَّ اَبْقٰیؕ and ever lasting اِنَّ Indeed هٰذَا this لَفِی surely (is) in الصُّحُفِ the Scriptures الْاُوْلٰیۙ [the] former صُحُفِ (The) Scriptures اِبْرٰهِیْمَ (of) Ibrahim وَ مُوْسٰی۠ and Musa 88. Al-Ghashiyah بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ هَلْ Has اَتٰىكَ (there) come to you حَدِیْثُ (the) news الْغَاشِیَةِؕ (of) the Overwhelming وُجُوْهٌ Faces یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day خَاشِعَةٌۙ (will be) humbled عَامِلَةٌ Laboring نَّاصِبَةٌۙ exhausted تَصْلٰی They will burn نَارًا (in) a Fire حَامِیَةًۙ intensely hot تُسْقٰی They will be given to drink مِنْ from عَیْنٍ a spring اٰنِیَةٍؕ boiling لَیْسَ Is not لَهُمْ for them طَعَامٌ food اِلَّا except مِنْ from ضَرِیْعٍۙ a bitter thorny plant لَّا Not یُسْمِنُ it nourishes وَ لَا and not یُغْنِیْ it avails مِنْ against جُوْعٍؕ hunger وُجُوْهٌ Faces یَّوْمَىِٕذٍ that Day نَّاعِمَةٌۙ (will be) joyful لِّسَعْیِهَا With their effort رَاضِیَةٌۙ satisfied فِیْ In جَنَّةٍ a garden عَالِیَةٍۙ elevated لَّا Not تَسْمَعُ they will hear فِیْهَا therein لَاغِیَةًؕ vain talk فِیْهَا Therein عَیْنٌ (will be) a spring جَارِیَةٌۘ flowing فِیْهَا Therein سُرُرٌ (will be) thrones مَّرْفُوْعَةٌۙ raised high وَّ اَكْوَابٌ And cups مَّوْضُوْعَةٌۙ put in place وَّ نَمَارِقُ And cushions مَصْفُوْفَةٌۙ lined up وَّ زَرَابِیُّ And carpets مَبْثُوْثَةٌؕ spread out اَفَلَا Then do not یَنْظُرُوْنَ they look اِلَی at الْاِبِلِ the camels كَیْفَ how خُلِقَتْۥ they are created وَ اِلَی And at السَّمَآءِ the sky كَیْفَ how رُفِعَتْۥ it is raised وَ اِلَی And at الْجِبَالِ the mountains كَیْفَ how نُصِبَتْۥ they are fixed وَ اِلَی And at الْاَرْضِ the earth كَیْفَ how سُطِحَتْۥ it is spread out فَذَكِّرْ ؕ۫ So remind اِنَّمَاۤ only اَنْتَ you مُذَكِّرٌؕ (are) a reminder لَسْتَ You are not عَلَیْهِمْ over them بِمُصَۜیْطِرٍۙ a controller اِلَّا But مَنْ whoever تَوَلّٰی turns away وَ كَفَرَۙ and disbelieves فَیُعَذِّبُهُ Then will punish him اللّٰهُ Allah الْعَذَابَ (with) the punishment الْاَكْبَرَؕ greatest اِنَّ Indeed اِلَیْنَاۤ to Us اِیَابَهُمْۙ (will be) their return ثُمَّ Then اِنَّ indeed عَلَیْنَا upon Us حِسَابَهُمْ۠ (is) their account 89. Al-Fajr Page 593 89. Al-Fajr بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ وَ الْفَجْرِۙ By the dawn وَ لَیَالٍ And the nights عَشْرٍۙ ten وَّ الشَّفْعِ And the even وَ الْوَتْرِۙ and the odd وَ الَّیْلِ And the night اِذَا when یَسْرِۚ it passes هَلْ Is فِیْ in ذٰلِكَ that قَسَمٌ an oath لِّذِیْ for those حِجْرٍؕ who understand اَلَمْ Do not تَرَ you see كَیْفَ how فَعَلَ dealt رَبُّكَ your Lord بِعَادٍ۪ۙ with Aad اِرَمَ Iram ذَاتِ possessors (of) الْعِمَادِ۪ۙ lofty pillars الَّتِیْ Which لَمْ not یُخْلَقْ had been created مِثْلُهَا like them فِی in الْبِلَادِ۪ۙ the cities وَ ثَمُوْدَ And Thamud الَّذِیْنَ who جَابُوا carved out الصَّخْرَ the rocks بِالْوَادِ۪ۙ in the valley وَ فِرْعَوْنَ And Firaun ذِی owner of الْاَوْتَادِ۪ۙ stakes الَّذِیْنَ Who طَغَوْا transgressed فِی in الْبِلَادِ۪ۙ the lands فَاَكْثَرُوْا And made much فِیْهَا therein الْفَسَادَ۪ۙ corruption فَصَبَّ So poured عَلَیْهِمْ on them رَبُّكَ your Lord سَوْطَ scourge عَذَابٍۚۙ (of) punishment اِنَّ Indeed رَبَّكَ your Lord لَبِالْمِرْصَادِؕ (is) surely Ever Watchful فَاَمَّا And as for الْاِنْسَانُ man اِذَا when مَا does ابْتَلٰىهُ try him رَبُّهٗ his Lord فَاَكْرَمَهٗ and is generous to him وَ نَعَّمَهٗ ۙ۬ and favors him فَیَقُوْلُ he says رَبِّیْۤ My Lord اَكْرَمَنِؕ has honored me وَ اَمَّاۤ But اِذَا when مَا does ابْتَلٰىهُ He try him فَقَدَرَ and restricts عَلَیْهِ for him رِزْقَهٗ ۙ۬ his provision فَیَقُوْلُ then he says رَبِّیْۤ My Lord اَهَانَنِۚ (has) humiliated me كَلَّا Nay! بَلْ But لَّا not تُكْرِمُوْنَ you honor الْیَتِیْمَۙ the orphan وَ لَا And not تَحٰٓضُّوْنَ you feel the urge عَلٰی to طَعَامِ feed الْمِسْكِیْنِۙ the poor وَ تَاْكُلُوْنَ And you consume التُّرَاثَ the inheritance اَكْلًا devouring لَّمًّاۙ altogether وَّ تُحِبُّوْنَ And you love الْمَالَ wealth حُبًّا (with) love جَمًّاؕ exceeding كَلَّاۤ Nay اِذَا When دُكَّتِ is leveled الْاَرْضُ the earth دَكًّا pounded دَكًّاۙ (and) crushed وَّ جَآءَ And comes رَبُّكَ your Lord وَ الْمَلَكُ and the Angels صَفًّا rank صَفًّاۚ (upon) rank وَ جِایْٓءَ And is brought یَوْمَىِٕذٍۭ that Day بِجَهَنَّمَ ۙ۬ Hell یَوْمَىِٕذٍ That Day یَّتَذَكَّرُ will remember الْاِنْسَانُ man وَ اَنّٰی but how لَهُ (will be) for him الذِّكْرٰیؕ the remembrance 89. Al-Fajr Page 594 یَقُوْلُ He will say یٰلَیْتَنِیْ O! I wish قَدَّمْتُ I had sent forth لِحَیَاتِیْۚ for my life فَیَوْمَىِٕذٍ So that Day لَّا not یُعَذِّبُ will punish عَذَابَهٗۤ (as) His punishment اَحَدٌۙ anyone وَّ لَا And not یُوْثِقُ will bind وَ ثَاقَهٗۤ (as) His binding اَحَدٌؕ anyone یٰۤاَیَّتُهَا O النَّفْسُ soul الْمُطْمَىِٕنَّةُۗۖ who is satisfied ارْجِعِیْۤ Return اِلٰی to رَبِّكِ your Lord رَاضِیَةً well pleased مَّرْضِیَّةًۚ and pleasing فَادْخُلِیْ So enter فِیْ among عِبٰدِیْۙ My slaves وَ ادْخُلِیْ And enter جَنَّتِیْ۠ My Paradise 90. Al-Balad بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ لَاۤ Nay! اُقْسِمُ I swear بِهٰذَا by this الْبَلَدِۙ city وَ اَنْتَ And you حِلٌّۢ (are) free (to dwell) بِهٰذَا in this الْبَلَدِۙ city وَ وَالِدٍ And the begetter وَّ مَا and what وَلَدَۙ he begot لَقَدْ Certainly خَلَقْنَا We have created الْاِنْسَانَ man فِیْ (to be) in كَبَدٍؕ hardship اَیَحْسَبُ Does he think اَنْ that لَّنْ not یَّقْدِرَ has power عَلَیْهِ over him اَحَدٌۘ anyone یَقُوْلُ He will say اَهْلَكْتُ I have squandered مَالًا wealth لُّبَدًاؕ abundant اَیَحْسَبُ Does he think اَنْ that لَّمْ not یَرَهٗۤ sees him اَحَدٌؕ anyone اَلَمْ Have not نَجْعَلْ We made لَّهٗ for him عَیْنَیْنِۙ two eyes وَ لِسَانًا And a tongue وَّ شَفَتَیْنِۙ and two lips وَ هَدَیْنٰهُ And shown him النَّجْدَیْنِۚ the two ways فَلَا But not اقْتَحَمَ he has attempted الْعَقَبَةَؗۖ the steep path وَ مَاۤ And what اَدْرٰىكَ can make you know مَا what الْعَقَبَةُؕ the steep path is فَكُّ (It is) freeing رَقَبَةٍۙ a neck اَوْ Or اِطْعٰمٌ feeding فِیْ in یَوْمٍ a day ذِیْ of مَسْغَبَةٍۙ severe hunger یَّتِیْمًا An orphan ذَا of مَقْرَبَةٍۙ near relationship اَوْ Or مِسْكِیْنًا a needy person ذَا in مَتْرَبَةٍؕ misery ثُمَّ Then كَانَ he is مِنَ of الَّذِیْنَ those who اٰمَنُوْا believe وَ تَوَاصَوْا and enjoin each other بِالصَّبْرِ to patience وَ تَوَاصَوْا and enjoin each other بِالْمَرْحَمَةِؕ to compassion اُولٰٓىِٕكَ Those اَصْحٰبُ (are the) companions الْمَیْمَنَةِؕ (of) the right hand وَ الَّذِیْنَ But those who كَفَرُوْا disbelieve بِاٰیٰتِنَا in Our Verses هُمْ they اَصْحٰبُ (are the) companions الْمَشْـَٔمَةِؕ (of) the left hand عَلَیْهِمْ Over them نَارٌ (will be the) Fire مُّؤْصَدَةٌ۠ closed in 91. Ash-Shams Page 595 91. Ash-Shams بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ وَ الشَّمْسِ By the sun وَ ضُحٰىهَا۪ۙ and its brightness وَ الْقَمَرِ And the moon اِذَا when تَلٰىهَا۪ۙ it follows it وَ النَّهَارِ And the day اِذَا when جَلّٰىهَا۪ۙ it displays it وَ الَّیْلِ And the night اِذَا when یَغْشٰىهَا۪ۙ it covers it وَ السَّمَآءِ And the heaven وَ مَا and He Who بَنٰىهَا۪ۙ constructed it وَ الْاَرْضِ And the earth وَ مَا and He Who طَحٰىهَا۪ۙ spread it وَ نَفْسٍ And (the) soul وَّ مَا and He Who سَوّٰىهَا۪ۙ proportioned it فَاَلْهَمَهَا And He inspired it فُجُوْرَهَا (to understand) what is wrong for it وَ تَقْوٰىهَا۪ۙ and what is right for it قَدْ Indeed اَفْلَحَ he succeeds مَنْ who زَكّٰىهَا۪ۙ purifies it وَ قَدْ And indeed خَابَ he fails مَنْ who دَسّٰىهَاؕ corrupts it كَذَّبَتْ Denied ثَمُوْدُ Thamud بِطَغْوٰىهَاۤ by their transgression اِذِ When انْۢبَعَثَ (was) sent forth اَشْقٰىهَا۪ۙ (the) most wicked of them فَقَالَ But said لَهُمْ to them رَسُوْلُ (the) Messenger اللّٰهِ (of) Allah نَاقَةَ (It is the) she-camel اللّٰهِ (of) Allah وَ سُقْیٰهَاؕ and her drink فَكَذَّبُوْهُ But they denied him فَعَقَرُوْهَا ۪ۙ۬ and they hamstrung her فَدَمْدَمَ So destroyed عَلَیْهِمْ them رَبُّهُمْ their Lord بِذَنْۢبِهِمْ for their sin فَسَوّٰىهَا۪ۙ and leveled them وَ لَا And not یَخَافُ He fears عُقْبٰهَا۠ its consequences 92. Al-Layl بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ وَ الَّیْلِ By the night اِذَا when یَغْشٰیۙ it covers وَ النَّهَارِ And the day اِذَا when تَجَلّٰیۙ it shines in brightness وَ مَا And He Who خَلَقَ created الذَّكَرَ the male وَ الْاُنْثٰۤیۙ and the female اِنَّ Indeed سَعْیَكُمْ your efforts لَشَتّٰیؕ (are) surely diverse فَاَمَّا Then as for مَنْ (him) who اَعْطٰی gives وَ اتَّقٰیۙ and fears وَ صَدَّقَ And believes بِالْحُسْنٰیۙ in the best فَسَنُیَسِّرُهٗ Then We will ease him لِلْیُسْرٰیؕ towards [the] ease وَ اَمَّا But as for مَنْۢ (him) who بَخِلَ withholds وَ اسْتَغْنٰیۙ and considers himself free from need وَ كَذَّبَ And denies بِالْحُسْنٰیۙ the best فَسَنُیَسِّرُهٗ Then We will ease him لِلْعُسْرٰیؕ towards [the] difficulty وَ مَا And not یُغْنِیْ will avail عَنْهُ him مَالُهٗۤ his wealth اِذَا when تَرَدّٰیؕ he falls اِنَّ Indeed عَلَیْنَا upon Us لَلْهُدٰیؗۖ (is) the guidance وَ اِنَّ And indeed لَنَا for Us لَلْاٰخِرَةَ (is) the Hereafter وَ الْاُوْلٰی and the first (life) فَاَنْذَرْتُكُمْ So I warn you نَارًا (of) a Fire تَلَظّٰیۚ blazing 92. Al-Layl Page 596 لَا Not یَصْلٰىهَاۤ will burn (in) it اِلَّا except الْاَشْقَیۙ the most wretched الَّذِیْ The one who كَذَّبَ denied وَ تَوَلّٰیؕ and turned away وَ سَیُجَنَّبُهَا But will be removed from it الْاَتْقَیۙ the righteous الَّذِیْ The one who یُؤْتِیْ gives مَالَهٗ his wealth یَتَزَكّٰیۚ purifying himself وَ مَا And not لِاَحَدٍ for anyone عِنْدَهٗ with him مِنْ any نِّعْمَةٍ favor تُجْزٰۤیۙ to be recompensed اِلَّا Except ابْتِغَآءَ seeking وَجْهِ (the) Countenance رَبِّهِ (of) his Lord الْاَعْلٰیۚ the Most High وَ لَسَوْفَ And soon surely یَرْضٰی۠ he will be pleased 93. Ad-Duhaa بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ وَ الضُّحٰیۙ By the morning brightness وَ الَّیْلِ And the night اِذَا when سَجٰیۙ it covers with darkness مَا Not وَدَّعَكَ has forsaken you رَبُّكَ your Lord وَ مَا and not قَلٰیؕ He is displeased وَ لَلْاٰخِرَةُ And surely the Hereafter خَیْرٌ (is) better لَّكَ for you مِنَ than الْاُوْلٰیؕ the first وَ لَسَوْفَ And soon یُعْطِیْكَ will give you رَبُّكَ your Lord فَتَرْضٰیؕ then you will be satisfied اَلَمْ Did not یَجِدْكَ He find you یَتِیْمًا an orphan فَاٰوٰی۪ and gave shelter وَ وَجَدَكَ And He found you ضَآلًّا lost فَهَدٰی۪ so He guided وَ وَجَدَكَ And He found you عَآىِٕلًا in need فَاَغْنٰیؕ so He made self-sufficient فَاَمَّا So as for الْیَتِیْمَ the orphan فَلَا then (do) not تَقْهَرْؕ oppress وَ اَمَّا And as for السَّآىِٕلَ him who asks فَلَا then (do) not تَنْهَرْؕ repel وَ اَمَّا But as for بِنِعْمَةِ (the) Favor رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord فَحَدِّثْ۠ narrate 94. Ash-Sharh بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ اَلَمْ Have not نَشْرَحْ We expanded لَكَ for you صَدْرَكَۙ your breast وَ وَضَعْنَا And We removed عَنْكَ from you وِزْرَكَۙ your burden الَّذِیْۤ Which اَنْقَضَ weighed upon ظَهْرَكَۙ your back وَ رَفَعْنَا And We raised high لَكَ for you ذِكْرَكَؕ your esteem فَاِنَّ So indeed مَعَ with الْعُسْرِ the hardship یُسْرًاۙ (is) ease اِنَّ Indeed مَعَ with الْعُسْرِ the hardship یُسْرًاؕ (is) ease فَاِذَا So when فَرَغْتَ you are free فَانْصَبْۙ then stand up وَ اِلٰی And to رَبِّكَ your Lord فَارْغَبْ۠ turn your attention 95. At-Tin Page 597 95. At-Tin بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ وَ التِّیْنِ By the fig وَ الزَّیْتُوْنِۙ and the olive وَ طُوْرِ And (the) Mount سِیْنِیْنَۙ Sinai وَ هٰذَا And this الْبَلَدِ [the] city الْاَمِیْنِۙ [the] secure لَقَدْ Indeed خَلَقْنَا We created الْاِنْسَانَ man فِیْۤ in اَحْسَنِ (the) best تَقْوِیْمٍؗ mould ثُمَّ Then رَدَدْنٰهُ We return him اَسْفَلَ (to the) lowest سٰفِلِیْنَۙ (of the) low اِلَّا Except الَّذِیْنَ those who اٰمَنُوْا believe وَ عَمِلُوا and do الصّٰلِحٰتِ righteous deeds فَلَهُمْ then for them اَجْرٌ (is a) reward غَیْرُ never مَمْنُوْنٍؕ ending فَمَا Then what یُكَذِّبُكَ causes you to deny بَعْدُ after (this) بِالدِّیْنِؕ the judgment اَلَیْسَ Is not اللّٰهُ Allah بِاَحْكَمِ (the) Most Just الْحٰكِمِیْنَ۠ (of) the Judges 96. Al-'Alaq بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ اِقْرَاْ Read بِاسْمِ in (the) name رَبِّكَ (of) your Lord الَّذِیْ the One Who خَلَقَۚ created خَلَقَ He created الْاِنْسَانَ man مِنْ from عَلَقٍۚ a clinging substance اِقْرَاْ Read وَ رَبُّكَ and your Lord الْاَكْرَمُۙ (is) the Most Generous الَّذِیْ The One Who عَلَّمَ taught بِالْقَلَمِۙ by the pen عَلَّمَ Taught الْاِنْسَانَ man مَا what لَمْ not یَعْلَمْؕ he knew كَلَّاۤ Nay! اِنَّ Indeed الْاِنْسَانَ man لَیَطْغٰۤیۙ surely transgresses اَنْ Because رَّاٰهُ he sees himself اسْتَغْنٰیؕ self-sufficient اِنَّ Indeed اِلٰی to رَبِّكَ your Lord الرُّجْعٰیؕ (is) the return اَرَءَیْتَ Have you seen الَّذِیْ the one who یَنْهٰیۙ forbids عَبْدًا A slave اِذَا when صَلّٰیؕ he prays اَرَءَیْتَ Have you seen اِنْ if كَانَ he is عَلَی upon الْهُدٰۤیۙ [the] guidance اَوْ Or اَمَرَ he enjoins بِالتَّقْوٰیؕ [of the] righteousness اَرَءَیْتَ Have you seen اِنْ if كَذَّبَ he denies وَ تَوَلّٰیؕ and turns away اَلَمْ Does not یَعْلَمْ he know بِاَنَّ that اللّٰهَ Allah یَرٰیؕ sees كَلَّا Nay! لَىِٕنْ If لَّمْ not یَنْتَهِ ۙ۬ he desists لَنَسْفَعًۢا surely We will drag him بِالنَّاصِیَةِۙ by the forelock نَاصِیَةٍ A forelock كَاذِبَةٍ lying خَاطِئَةٍۚ sinful فَلْیَدْعُ Then let him call نَادِیَهٗۙ his associates
29. This ayat makes it clear that those who believed in Isa finally became victorious. So far as the victory of the proof (argument or Hujjat) is concerned, they had it already. Therefore, the “galabah (victory) mentioned here can only be the control of power. The word “zahireen” has appeared elsewhere also in the Quran in the meaning of control of power or power of controlling. The Faithful Momin had declared in the court of Pharoah:
“O my people! Yours is the kingdom today, you being the masters in the land. But who would save us from wrath of Allah should it reach us? (Mumin: 29)
Here note 65 of Surah Taubah may be kept in mind.
The aim of this ayah is to make it clear that, just as those who put faith in God’s Messenger Isa became victorious, so also will win those who believe in the prophet of the Quran. History bears witness that it so happened.
The Holy Quran also contains the good tidings given to Isa.
“And I will place who follows you above those who reject you until the Day of Resurrection”. (Al-e- Imraan:55)
So far as history is concerned its pages are not quite clear. However, it is proved that after the lifting up unto heaven of the prophet Isa his followers passed through all storms of opposition and went on gaining control over those who had rejected him. Their message went on spreading and their centers were established in big cities of the Roman empire. Judaism went on shrinking until, in the year 70 AD, Titus invaded Jerusalem and scattered the Jews and thereafter the Jews could never stand against the followers of Isa (Alaihis Salam). The number or the followers of Isa went on increasing and after the attack of Titus, the Romans started to accept the Faith of Jesus and the followers of Maseeh gained victory after victory. Ibne Khaldoon writes:
“Then the Romans began to accept the religion of Maseeh and to honour it. Thereafter the conditions of Roman kings was different. Sometimes they accepted the Faith of Nasaras and sometimes they rejected it, until Constantine arrived.” (Muqaddimah Ibne Khaldoon,p.335).
When the Roman king Constantine came to power he became a supporter of Maseehism and then the followers of Isa got so much control that till today Christianity is victorious over Judaism.
