Commentary

32. Now this is a picture of the practical life of a man showing what does he take with him at the time of departing from this world. He had not believed in the arrival of the Day of Judgment nor did he have anything to do with God-worship. Hence he neglected Salat totally though it was the most important religious duty.

It thus becomes clear that the very first demand of belief in the Day of Judgment is the performance of salat and the recitation of Quran. The holy Quran says that the disbelievers give up salat. But today a large number of Muslims also do not perform salat. If they read these ayaat of the Quran mindfully they will rise up from their slumber and start performing salat.

33. He falsified the Resurrection and denied to obey and worship God.

34. It is his arrogance which prevents him from accepting the Truth. Such a person can never be influenced by admonition; rather he turns his face from it and walks towards his kens and kith proud of his wealth.

35. ‘WOOLA LAKA’ as explained by Jawhari, is a word of threat. Originally it is from ‘Valiya’ which means ‘to be near’. Asmaee says it means the killer thing has come near, that is calamity has arrived. (As sihah lil jawharee. Vol.6, p. 2530).

In these two ayah sorrow is repeated for the attitude of that person. This word has been used four times which indicates that he will meet with destruction upon destruction: in this world, during the life in Barzakh, in the field of Resurrection and finally in Hell where he will dwell in destruction forever.

36. For explanation please see Surah Muminoon, note.102.

37. What is the basis of man’s pride over this life and the denial of the other world? He forgets the fact that he himself was created from a lowly drop of semen. Man performed the act of dropping it in a womb. Thereafter, it was God Who created him making him pass through different stages in that dark place.

38. For clarification please see Surah Hajj note 9 and Surah Muminoon, note:14.

39. That is, HE gave the shape of human body to a clot of blood and thereafter HE gave it wonderful finishing touches.

40. That is, over and above that.

41. Making pairs is the proof of the truth that his Creator has created him with certain wisdom, strategy according to a plan. For further explanation please see Surah Nabaa, note: 6.

42. That is, can it be at all difficult to enliven the dead for the ONE Whose Might is so wonderful?!
