وَ لَوْ And if یُؤَاخِذُ Allah were to seize اللّٰهُ Allah were to seize النَّاسَ the mankind بِظُلْمِهِمْ for their wrongdoing مَّا not تَرَكَ He (would) have left عَلَیْهَا upon it مِنْ any دَآبَّةٍ moving creature وَّ لٰكِنْ but یُّؤَخِّرُهُمْ He defers them اِلٰۤی for اَجَلٍ a term مُّسَمًّی ۚ appointed فَاِذَا Then when جَآءَ comes اَجَلُهُمْ their terms لَا not یَسْتَاْخِرُوْنَ they (will) remain behind سَاعَةً an hour وَّ لَا and not یَسْتَقْدِمُوْنَ they can advance (it) وَ یَجْعَلُوْنَ And they assign لِلّٰهِ to Allah مَا what یَكْرَهُوْنَ they dislike وَ تَصِفُ and assert اَلْسِنَتُهُمُ their tongues الْكَذِبَ the lie اَنَّ that لَهُمُ for them الْحُسْنٰی ؕ (is) the best لَا No جَرَمَ doubt اَنَّ that لَهُمُ for them النَّارَ (is) the Fire وَ اَنَّهُمْ and that they مُّفْرَطُوْنَ (will) be abandoned تَاللّٰهِ By Allah لَقَدْ certainly اَرْسَلْنَاۤ We have sent اِلٰۤی to اُمَمٍ nations مِّنْ before you قَبْلِكَ before you فَزَیَّنَ but made fair-seeming لَهُمُ to them الشَّیْطٰنُ the Shaitaan اَعْمَالَهُمْ their deeds فَهُوَ So he وَلِیُّهُمُ (is) their ally الْیَوْمَ today وَ لَهُمْ and for them عَذَابٌ (is) a punishment اَلِیْمٌ painful وَ مَاۤ And not اَنْزَلْنَا We revealed عَلَیْكَ to you الْكِتٰبَ the Book اِلَّا except لِتُبَیِّنَ that you make clear لَهُمُ to them الَّذِی that which اخْتَلَفُوْا they differed فِیْهِ ۙ in it وَ هُدًی and (as) a guidance وَّ رَحْمَةً and mercy لِّقَوْمٍ for a people یُّؤْمِنُوْنَ who believe 16. An-Nahl Page 274 وَ اللّٰهُ And Allah اَنْزَلَ sends down مِنَ from السَّمَآءِ the sky مَآءً water فَاَحْیَا then gives life بِهِ by it الْاَرْضَ (to) the earth بَعْدَ after مَوْتِهَا ؕ its death اِنَّ Indeed فِیْ in ذٰلِكَ that لَاٰیَةً (is) surely a Sign لِّقَوْمٍ for a people یَّسْمَعُوْنَ۠ who listen
(16:61) If Allah were to seize the people for their transgression, He would have spared no creature on earth, but He lets them go on up to an appointed time. So, when their time will come, they will not be able to delay it for a moment, nor to bring it soon
(16:62) They assign to Allah what they themselves dislike, and their tongues make the false statement that for them there is a happy end. No, Fire is imminently theirs, and they are being driven (towards it) speedily
(16:63) By Allah, We sent (messengers) to communities before you, but the Satan made their deeds look good to them. So, he is their patron today, and for them there is a painful punishment
(16:64) We have sent down the Book to you, only because you may explain to them what they differed about, and (so that it may be) guidance and mercy for a people who believe
(16:65) Allah sent down water from the heavens and revived the land with it after it was dead. Surely, in that there is a sign for a people who listen
