Surah 75. Al-Qiyamah

Quran Text of Verse 31-40فَلَاAnd notصَدَّقَhe accepted (the) truthوَ لَاand notصَلّٰىۙhe prayed وَ لٰكِنْButكَذَّبَhe deniedوَ تَوَلّٰىۙand turned away ثُمَّThenذَهَبَhe wentاِلٰۤیtoاَهْلِهٖhis familyیَتَمَطّٰىؕswaggering اَوْلٰىWoeلَكَto youفَاَوْلٰىۙand woe! ثُمَّThenاَوْلٰىwoeلَكَto youفَاَوْلٰىؕand woe! اَیَحْسَبُDoes thinkالْاِنْسَانُmanاَنْthatیُّتْرَكَhe will be leftسُدًیؕneglected اَلَمْWas notیَكُheنُطْفَةًa spermمِّنْfromمَّنِیٍّsemenیُّمْنٰىۙemitted ثُمَّThenكَانَhe wasعَلَقَةًa clinging substanceفَخَلَقَthen He createdفَسَوّٰىۙand proportioned فَجَعَلَThen madeمِنْهُof himالزَّوْجَیْنِtwo matesالذَّكَرَ(the) maleوَ الْاُنْثٰىؕand the female اَلَیْسَIs notذٰلِكَ[that]بِقٰدِرٍ(He) Ableعَلٰۤی[over]اَنْtoیُّحْیِ َۧgive lifeالْمَوْتٰى۠(to) the dead

Translation of Verse 31-40

31. This denier neither believed nor prayed,

32. but persisted in denial and turned away,

33. then went to their own people, walking boastfully.

34. Woe to you, and more woe!

35. Again, woe to you, and even more woe!

36. Do people think they will be left without purpose?

37. Were they not ˹once˺ a sperm-drop emitted?

38. Then they became a clinging clot ˹of blood˺, ¹²⁶⁰ then He developed and perfected their form,

39. producing from it both sexes, male and female.

40. Is such ˹a Creator˺ unable to bring the dead back to life?

Commentary

1260. ' Alaqah , meaning the embryo resembles a leech.
