Quran Text of Verse 1-107. Al-A'raf Page 1517. Al-A'rafبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِالٓمّٓصٓۚAlif Laam Meem Saad كِتٰبٌA Bookاُنْزِلَrevealedاِلَیْكَto youفَلَاso (let) notیَكُنْbeفِیْinصَدْرِكَyour breastحَرَجٌany uneasinessمِّنْهُfrom itلِتُنْذِرَthat you warnبِهٖwith itوَ ذِكْرٰیand a reminderلِلْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ for the believers اِتَّبِعُوْاFollowمَاۤwhatاُنْزِلَhas been revealedاِلَیْكُمْto youمِّنْfromرَّبِّكُمْyour Lordوَ لَاand (do) notتَتَّبِعُوْاfollowمِنْfromدُوْنِهٖۤbeside Himاَوْلِیَآءَ ؕany alliesقَلِیْلًاLittleمَّا(is) whatتَذَكَّرُوْنَ you remember وَ كَمْAnd how manyمِّنْofقَرْیَةٍa cityاَهْلَكْنٰهَاWe destroyed itفَجَآءَهَاand came to itبَاْسُنَاOur punishmentبَیَاتًا(at) nightاَوْorهُمْ(while) theyقَآىِٕلُوْنَ were sleeping at noon فَمَاThen notكَانَwasدَعْوٰىهُمْtheir pleaاِذْwhenجَآءَهُمْcame to themبَاْسُنَاۤOur punishmentاِلَّاۤexceptاَنْthatقَالُوْۤاthey saidاِنَّاIndeed weكُنَّاwereظٰلِمِیْنَ wrongdoers فَلَنَسْـَٔلَنَّThen surely We will questionالَّذِیْنَthose (to) whomاُرْسِلَwere sentاِلَیْهِمْto them (Messengers)وَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّand surely We will questionالْمُرْسَلِیْنَۙthe Messengers فَلَنَقُصَّنَّThen surely We will narrateعَلَیْهِمْto themبِعِلْمٍwith knowledgeوَّ مَاand notكُنَّاWe wereغَآىِٕبِیْنَ absent وَ الْوَزْنُAnd the weighingیَوْمَىِٕذِthat dayلْحَقُّ ۚ(will be) the truthفَمَنْSo whoseثَقُلَتْ(will be) heavyمَوَازِیْنُهٗhis scalesفَاُولٰٓىِٕكَthen thoseهُمُ[they]الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ (will be) the successful ones وَ مَنْAnd (for) thoseخَفَّتْ(will be) lightمَوَازِیْنُهٗhis scalesفَاُولٰٓىِٕكَso thoseالَّذِیْنَ(will be) the ones whoخَسِرُوْۤاlostاَنْفُسَهُمْthemselvesبِمَاbecauseكَانُوْاthey wereبِاٰیٰتِنَاto Our Versesیَظْلِمُوْنَ (doing) injustice وَ لَقَدْAnd certainlyمَكَّنّٰكُمْWe established youفِیinالْاَرْضِthe earthوَ جَعَلْنَاand We madeلَكُمْfor youفِیْهَاin itمَعَایِشَ ؕlivelihoodقَلِیْلًاLittleمَّا(is) whatتَشْكُرُوْنَ۠you (are) grateful

Surah Introduction

This sûrah takes its name from the heights mentioned in verse 46. Like many other Meccan sûrahs, it recounts the stories of earlier prophets who were denied by their own people and how the deniers were eventually destroyed. As mentioned in the previous sûrah (6:10-11), these stories are meant to reassure the Prophet ( ﷺ ) and warn his people of Allah's torment. The story of Satan's arrogance and Adam's temptation and fall are detailed, along with lessons for the believers to beware of Satan's whispers. Details about Paradise and Hell (verses 36-53) here are unmatched by any previous sûrah. The powerlessness of idols is further emphasized. Full obedience to Allah and His prophets is stressed in this sûrah and the next.

Translation of Verse 1-101. In the Name of Allah-the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

1. Alif-Lãm-Mĩm-Ṣãd .

2. ˹This is˺ a Book sent down to you ˹O Prophet˺-do not let anxiety into your heart regarding it-so with it you may warn ˹the disbelievers˺, and as a reminder to the believers.

3. Follow what has been sent down to you from your Lord, and do not take others as guardians besides Him. How seldom are you mindful!

4. ˹Imagine˺ how many societies We have destroyed! Our torment took them by surprise ˹while sleeping˺ at night or midday.

5. Their only cry-when overwhelmed by Our torment-was, "We have indeed been wrongdoers."

6. We will surely question those who received messengers and We will question the messengers ˹themselves˺.

7. Then We will give them a full account with sure knowledge-for We were never absent.

8. The weighing on that Day will be just. As for those whose scale will be heavy ˹with good deeds˺, ˹only˺ they will be successful.

9. But those whose scale is light, they have doomed themselves for wrongfully denying Our signs.

10. We have indeed established you on earth and provided you with a means of livelihood. ˹Yet˺ you seldom give any thanks.
