Quran Text of Verse 41-53وَ اِنْAnd ifكَذَّبُوْكَthey deny youفَقُلْthen sayلِّیْFor meعَمَلِیْ(are) my deedsوَ لَكُمْand for youعَمَلُكُمْ ۚ(are) your deedsاَنْتُمْYouبَرِیْٓـُٔوْنَ(are) disassociatedمِمَّاۤfrom whatاَعْمَلُI doوَ اَنَاand I amبَرِیْٓءٌdisassociatedمِّمَّاfrom whatتَعْمَلُوْنَ you do وَ مِنْهُمْAnd among themمَّنْ(are some) whoیَّسْتَمِعُوْنَlistenاِلَیْكَ ؕto youاَفَاَنْتَBut (can) youتُسْمِعُcause the deaf to hearالصُّمَّcause the deaf to hearوَ لَوْeven thoughكَانُوْاthey [were]لَا(do) notیَعْقِلُوْنَ use reason 10. Yunus Page 214وَ مِنْهُمْAnd among themمَّنْ(are some) whoیَّنْظُرُlookاِلَیْكَ ؕat youاَفَاَنْتَBut (can) youتَهْدِیguideالْعُمْیَthe blindوَ لَوْeven thoughكَانُوْاthey [were]لَا(do) notیُبْصِرُوْنَ see اِنَّIndeedاللّٰهَAllahلَا(does) notیَظْلِمُwrongالنَّاسَthe peopleشَیْـًٔا(in) anythingوَّ لٰكِنَّbutالنَّاسَthe peopleاَنْفُسَهُمْwrong themselvesیَظْلِمُوْنَ wrong themselves وَ یَوْمَAnd the DayیَحْشُرُهُمْHe will gather themكَاَنْas ifلَّمْthey had not remainedیَلْبَثُوْۤاthey had not remainedاِلَّاexceptسَاعَةًan hourمِّنَofالنَّهَارِthe dayیَتَعَارَفُوْنَthey will recognize each otherبَیْنَهُمْ ؕbetween themقَدْCertainlyخَسِرَ(will have) lostالَّذِیْنَthose whoكَذَّبُوْاdeniedبِلِقَآءِthe meetingاللّٰهِ(with) Allahوَ مَاand notكَانُوْاthey wereمُهْتَدِیْنَ the guided ones وَ اِمَّاAnd whetherنُرِیَنَّكَWe show youبَعْضَsomeالَّذِیْ(of) that whichنَعِدُهُمْWe promised themاَوْorنَتَوَفَّیَنَّكَWe cause you to dieفَاِلَیْنَاthen to Usمَرْجِعُهُمْ(is) their returnثُمَّthenاللّٰهُAllahشَهِیْدٌ(is) a Witnessعَلٰیoverمَاwhatیَفْعَلُوْنَ they do وَ لِكُلِّAnd for everyاُمَّةٍnationرَّسُوْلٌ ۚ(is) a MessengerفَاِذَاSo whenجَآءَcomesرَسُوْلُهُمْtheir Messengerقُضِیَit will be judgedبَیْنَهُمْbetween themبِالْقِسْطِin justiceوَ هُمْand theyلَا(will) notیُظْلَمُوْنَ be wronged وَ یَقُوْلُوْنَAnd they sayمَتٰیWhenهٰذَا(will) thisالْوَعْدُthe promise (be fulfilled)اِنْifكُنْتُمْyou areصٰدِقِیْنَ truthful قُلْSayلَّاۤNotاَمْلِكُI have powerلِنَفْسِیْfor myselfضَرًّا(for) any harmوَّ لَاand notنَفْعًا(for) any profitاِلَّاexceptمَاwhatشَآءَAllah willsاللّٰهُ ؕAllah willsلِكُلِّFor everyاُمَّةٍnationاَجَلٌ ؕ(is) a termاِذَاWhenجَآءَcomesاَجَلُهُمْtheir termفَلَاthen notیَسْتَاْخِرُوْنَthey remain behindسَاعَةًan hourوَّ لَاand notیَسْتَقْدِمُوْنَ they can precede (it) قُلْSayاَرَءَیْتُمْDo you seeاِنْifاَتٰىكُمْcomes to youعَذَابُهٗHis punishmentبَیَاتًا(by) nightاَوْorنَهَارًا(by) dayمَّا ذَاwhat (portion)یَسْتَعْجِلُof it would (wish to) hastenمِنْهُof it would (wish to) hastenالْمُجْرِمُوْنَ the criminals اَثُمَّIs (it) thenاِذَاwhenمَاwhenوَقَعَ(it had) occurredاٰمَنْتُمْyou (will) believeبِهٖ ؕin itآٰلْـٰٔنَNowوَ قَدْAnd certainlyكُنْتُمْyou wereبِهٖseeking to hasten itتَسْتَعْجِلُوْنَ seeking to hasten it ثُمَّThenقِیْلَit will be saidلِلَّذِیْنَto those whoظَلَمُوْاwrongedذُوْقُوْاTasteعَذَابَpunishmentالْخُلْدِ ۚthe everlastingهَلْAre you (being) recompensedتُجْزَوْنَAre you (being) recompensedاِلَّاexceptبِمَاfor whatكُنْتُمْyou used (to)تَكْسِبُوْنَ earn وَ یَسْتَنْۢبِـُٔوْنَكَAnd they ask you to informاَحَقٌّIs it trueهُوَ ؔؕIs it trueقُلْSayاِیْYesوَ رَبِّیْۤby my LordاِنَّهٗIndeed, itلَحَقٌّ ؔؕۚ(is) surely the truthوَ مَاۤand notاَنْتُمْyouبِمُعْجِزِیْنَ۠(can) escape (it)

Translation of Verse 41-53

41. If they deny you, then say, "My deeds are mine and your deeds are yours. You are free of what I do and I am free of what you do!"

42. Some of them listen to what you say, but can you make the deaf hear even though they do not understand?

43. And some of them look at you, but can you guide the blind even though they cannot see? ³⁹⁵

44. Indeed, Allah does not wrong people in the least, but it is people who wrong themselves.

45. On the Day He will gather them, it will be as if they had not stayed ˹in the world˺ except for an hour of a day, ³⁹⁶ ˹as though they were only˺ getting to know one another. Lost indeed will be those who denied the meeting with Allah, and were not ˹rightly˺ guided!

46. Whether We show you ˹O Prophet˺ some of what We threaten them with, or cause you to die ˹before that˺, to Us is their return and

47. And for every community there is a messenger. After their messenger has come, ³⁹⁷ judgment is passed on them in all fairness, and they are not wronged.

48. They ask ˹the believers˺, "When will this threat come to pass if what you say is true?"

49. Say, ˹O Prophet,˺ "I have no power to benefit or protect myself, except by the Will of Allah." For each community there is an appointed term. When their time arrives, they cannot delay it for a moment, nor could they advance it.

50. Tell them ˹O Prophet˺, "Imagine if His torment were to overcome you by night or day-do the wicked realize what they are ˹really˺ asking Him to hasten?

51. Will you believe in it only after it has overtaken you? Now? But you always wanted to hasten it!"

52. Then the wrongdoers will be told, "Taste the torment of eternity! Are you not rewarded except for what you used to commit?"

53. They ask you ˹O Prophet˺, "Is this true?" Say, "Yes, by my Lord! Most certainly it is true! And you will have no escape."

Commentary

395. This refers metaphorically to the pagans who fail to see and hear the truth.

396. i.e., only for a short period of time.

397. Either in this life to deliver the message or on the Day of Judgment to testify for or against them.
