Quran Text of Verse 1-1236. Ya-Sinبِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِیٰسٓۚYa Sin وَ الْقُرْاٰنِBy the Quranالْحَكِیْمِۙthe Wise اِنَّكَIndeed youلَمِنَ(are) amongالْمُرْسَلِیْنَۙthe Messengers عَلٰیOnصِرَاطٍa Pathمُّسْتَقِیْمٍؕstraight تَنْزِیْلَA revelationالْعَزِیْزِ(of) the All-Mightyالرَّحِیْمِۙthe Most Merciful لِتُنْذِرَThat you may warnقَوْمًاa peopleمَّاۤnotاُنْذِرَwere warnedاٰبَآؤُهُمْtheir forefathersفَهُمْso theyغٰفِلُوْنَ (are) heedless لَقَدْCertainlyحَقَّ(has) proved trueالْقَوْلُthe wordعَلٰۤیuponاَكْثَرِهِمْmost of themفَهُمْso theyلَا(do) notیُؤْمِنُوْنَ believe اِنَّاIndeedجَعَلْنَا[We] have placedفِیْۤonاَعْنَاقِهِمْtheir necksاَغْلٰلًاiron collarsفَهِیَand theyاِلَی(are up) toالْاَذْقَانِthe chinsفَهُمْso theyمُّقْمَحُوْنَ (are with) heads aloft وَ جَعَلْنَاAnd We have madeمِنْۢbefore themبَیْنِbefore themاَیْدِیْهِمْbefore themسَدًّاa barrierوَّ مِنْand behind themخَلْفِهِمْand behind themسَدًّاa barrierفَاَغْشَیْنٰهُمْand We covered themفَهُمْso theyلَا(do) notیُبْصِرُوْنَ see وَ سَوَآءٌAnd it (is) sameعَلَیْهِمْto themءَاَنْذَرْتَهُمْwhether you warn themاَمْorلَمْ(do) notتُنْذِرْهُمْwarn themلَاnotیُؤْمِنُوْنَ they will believe اِنَّمَاOnlyتُنْذِرُyou (can) warnمَنِ(him) whoاتَّبَعَfollowsالذِّكْرَthe Reminderوَ خَشِیَand fearsالرَّحْمٰنَthe Most Graciousبِالْغَیْبِ ۚin the unseenفَبَشِّرْهُSo give him glad tidingsبِمَغْفِرَةٍof forgivenessوَّ اَجْرٍand a rewardكَرِیْمٍ noble اِنَّاIndeedنَحْنُWeنُحْیِgive lifeالْمَوْتٰی(to) the deadوَ نَكْتُبُand We recordمَاwhatقَدَّمُوْاthey have sent beforeوَ اٰثَارَهُمْ ؔؕand their footprintsوَ كُلَّand everyشَیْءٍthingاَحْصَیْنٰهُWe have enumerated itفِیْۤinاِمَامٍa Registerمُّبِیْنٍ۠clear

Surah Introduction

This Meccan sûrah emphasizes the divine nature and purpose of the Quran. The Arab pagans are reminded of the fate of earlier disbelievers and condemned for following Satan, denying the Resurrection, discrediting the Quran, and rejecting the Prophet ( ﷺ ) as 'a poet.' Similar to the next sûrah, some examples of Allah's wonders of creation are cited to prove His ability to bring the dead back to life.

Translation of Verse 1-121. In the Name of Allah-the Most Compassionate, Most Merciful.

1. Yâ-Sĩn .

2. By the Quran, rich in wisdom!

3. You ˹O Prophet˺ are truly one of the messengers

4. upon the Straight Path.

5. ˹This is˺ a revelation from the Almighty, Most Merciful,

6. so that you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, and so are heedless.

7. The decree ˹of torment˺ has already been justified against most of them, for they will never believe.

8. ˹It is as if˺ We have put shackles around their necks up to their chins, so their heads are forced up,

9. and have placed a barrier before them and a barrier behind them and covered them ˹all˺ up, so they fail to see ˹the truth˺.

10. It is the same whether you warn them or not-they will never believe.

11. You can only warn those who follow the Reminder ⁹⁰⁰ and are in awe of the Most Compassionate without seeing Him. ⁹⁰¹ So give them good news of forgiveness and an honourable reward.

12. It is certainly We Who resurrect the dead, and write what they send forth and what they leave behind. Everything is listed by Us in a perfect Record. ⁹⁰²
