وَ الَّذِیْنَ And those who اٰمَنُوْا believe[d] وَ عَمِلُوا and did الصّٰلِحٰتِ the good deeds سَنُدْخِلُهُمْ We will admit them جَنّٰتٍ (in) Gardens تَجْرِیْ flows مِنْ from تَحْتِهَا underneath it الْاَنْهٰرُ the rivers خٰلِدِیْنَ will abide فِیْهَاۤ in it اَبَدًا ؕ forever لَهُمْ For them فِیْهَاۤ in it اَزْوَاجٌ (are) spouses مُّطَهَّرَةٌ ؗ pure وَّ نُدْخِلُهُمْ and We will admit them ظِلًّا (in the) shade ظَلِیْلًا thick اِنَّ Indeed اللّٰهَ Allah یَاْمُرُكُمْ orders you اَنْ to تُؤَدُّوا render الْاَمٰنٰتِ the trusts اِلٰۤی to اَهْلِهَا ۙ their owners وَ اِذَا and when حَكَمْتُمْ you judge بَیْنَ between النَّاسِ the people اَنْ to تَحْكُمُوْا judge بِالْعَدْلِ ؕ with justice اِنَّ Indeed اللّٰهَ Allah نِعِمَّا excellently یَعِظُكُمْ advises you بِهٖ ؕ with it اِنَّ Indeed اللّٰهَ Allah كَانَ is سَمِیْعًۢا All-Hearing بَصِیْرًا All-Seeing یٰۤاَیُّهَا O you الَّذِیْنَ who اٰمَنُوْۤا believe[d] اَطِیْعُوا Obey اللّٰهَ Allah وَ اَطِیْعُوا and obey الرَّسُوْلَ the Messenger وَ اُولِی and those الْاَمْرِ (having) authority مِنْكُمْ ۚ among you فَاِنْ Then if تَنَازَعْتُمْ you disagree فِیْ in شَیْءٍ anything فَرُدُّوْهُ refer it اِلَی to اللّٰهِ Allah وَ الرَّسُوْلِ and the Messenger اِنْ if كُنْتُمْ you تُؤْمِنُوْنَ believe بِاللّٰهِ in Allah وَ الْیَوْمِ and the Day الْاٰخِرِ ؕ [the] Last ذٰلِكَ That خَیْرٌ (is) best وَّ اَحْسَنُ and more suitable تَاْوِیْلًا۠ (for final) determination 4. An-Nisa Page 88 اَلَمْ Do not تَرَ you see اِلَی [towards] الَّذِیْنَ those who یَزْعُمُوْنَ claim اَنَّهُمْ that they اٰمَنُوْا believe بِمَاۤ in what اُنْزِلَ (is) revealed اِلَیْكَ to you وَ مَاۤ and what اُنْزِلَ was revealed مِنْ from قَبْلِكَ before you یُرِیْدُوْنَ They wish اَنْ to یَّتَحَاكَمُوْۤا go for judgment اِلَی to الطَّاغُوْتِ the false deities وَ قَدْ and surely اُمِرُوْۤا they were ordered اَنْ to یَّكْفُرُوْا reject بِهٖ ؕ [with] it وَ یُرِیْدُ And wishes الشَّیْطٰنُ the Shaitaan اَنْ to یُّضِلَّهُمْ mislead them ضَلٰلًۢا astray بَعِیْدًا far away وَ اِذَا And when قِیْلَ it is said لَهُمْ to them تَعَالَوْا Come اِلٰی to مَاۤ what اَنْزَلَ (has) revealed اللّٰهُ Allah وَ اِلَی and to الرَّسُوْلِ the Messenger رَاَیْتَ you see الْمُنٰفِقِیْنَ the hypocrites یَصُدُّوْنَ turning away عَنْكَ from you صُدُوْدًاۚ (in) aversion فَكَیْفَ So how اِذَاۤ when اَصَابَتْهُمْ befalls them مُّصِیْبَةٌۢ disaster بِمَا for what قَدَّمَتْ sent forth اَیْدِیْهِمْ their hands ثُمَّ then جَآءُوْكَ they come to you یَحْلِفُوْنَ ۖۗ swearing بِاللّٰهِ by Allah اِنْ Not اَرَدْنَاۤ we intended اِلَّاۤ except اِحْسَانًا good وَّ تَوْفِیْقًا and reconciliation اُولٰٓىِٕكَ Those الَّذِیْنَ (are) the ones who یَعْلَمُ knows اللّٰهُ Allah مَا what فِیْ (is) in قُلُوْبِهِمْ ۗ their hearts فَاَعْرِضْ so turn away عَنْهُمْ from them وَ عِظْهُمْ and admonish them وَ قُلْ and say لَّهُمْ to them فِیْۤ concerning اَنْفُسِهِمْ their souls قَوْلًۢا a word بَلِیْغًا penetrating وَ مَاۤ And not اَرْسَلْنَا We sent مِنْ any رَّسُوْلٍ Messenger اِلَّا except لِیُطَاعَ to be obeyed بِاِذْنِ by (the) permission اللّٰهِ ؕ (of) Allah وَ لَوْ And if اَنَّهُمْ [that] they اِذْ when ظَّلَمُوْۤا they wronged اَنْفُسَهُمْ themselves جَآءُوْكَ (had) come to you فَاسْتَغْفَرُوا and asked forgiveness اللّٰهَ (of) Allah وَ اسْتَغْفَرَ and asked forgiveness لَهُمُ for them الرَّسُوْلُ the Messenger لَوَجَدُوا surely they would have found اللّٰهَ Allah تَوَّابًا Oft-Forgiving رَّحِیْمًا Most Merciful فَلَا But no وَ رَبِّكَ by your Lord لَا not یُؤْمِنُوْنَ will they believe حَتّٰی until یُحَكِّمُوْكَ they make you judge فِیْمَا about what شَجَرَ arises بَیْنَهُمْ between them ثُمَّ then لَا not یَجِدُوْا they find فِیْۤ in اَنْفُسِهِمْ themselves حَرَجًا any discomfort مِّمَّا about what قَضَیْتَ you (have) decided وَ یُسَلِّمُوْا and submit تَسْلِیْمًا (in full) submission 4. An-Nisa Page 89 وَ لَوْ And if اَنَّا [that] We كَتَبْنَا (had) decreed عَلَیْهِمْ on them اَنِ that اقْتُلُوْۤا Kill اَنْفُسَكُمْ yourselves اَوِ or اخْرُجُوْا Go forth مِنْ from دِیَارِكُمْ your homes مَّا not فَعَلُوْهُ they would have done it اِلَّا except قَلِیْلٌ a few مِّنْهُمْ ؕ of them وَ لَوْ But if اَنَّهُمْ [that] they فَعَلُوْا had done مَا what یُوْعَظُوْنَ they were advised بِهٖ with [it] لَكَانَ surely (it) would have been خَیْرًا better لَّهُمْ for them وَ اَشَدَّ and stronger تَثْبِیْتًاۙ strengthen(ing) وَّ اِذًا And then لَّاٰتَیْنٰهُمْ We would (have) given them مِّنْ from لَّدُنَّاۤ Ourselves اَجْرًا a reward عَظِیْمًاۙ great وَّ لَهَدَیْنٰهُمْ And We would have guided them صِرَاطًا (to the) way مُّسْتَقِیْمًا (the) straight وَ مَنْ And whoever یُّطِعِ obeys اللّٰهَ Allah وَ الرَّسُوْلَ and the Messenger فَاُولٰٓىِٕكَ then those مَعَ (will be) with الَّذِیْنَ those whom اَنْعَمَ has bestowed (His) Favor اللّٰهُ Allah عَلَیْهِمْ upon them مِّنَ of النَّبِیّٖنَ the Prophets وَ الصِّدِّیْقِیْنَ and the truthful وَ الشُّهَدَآءِ and the martyrs وَ الصّٰلِحِیْنَ ۚ and the righteous وَ حَسُنَ And excellent اُولٰٓىِٕكَ (are) those رَفِیْقًاؕ companion(s) ذٰلِكَ That الْفَضْلُ (is) the Bounty مِنَ of اللّٰهِ ؕ Allah وَ كَفٰی and sufficient بِاللّٰهِ Allah عَلِیْمًا۠ (as) All-Knower
57. As for those who believe and do good, We will admit them into Gardens under which rivers flow, to stay there for ever and ever. There they will have pure spouses, 207 and We will place them under a vast shade.
58. Indeed, Allah commands you to return trusts to their rightful owners; 208 and when you judge between people, judge with fairness. What a noble commandment from Allah to you! Surely Allah is All-Hearing, All-Seeing.
59. O believers! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. Should you disagree on anything, then refer it to Allah and His Messenger, if you ˹truly˺ believe in Allah and the Last Day. This is the best and fairest resolution.
60. Have you ˹O Prophet˺ not seen those who claim they believe in what has been revealed to you and what was revealed before you?
61. When it is said to them, "Come to Allah's revelations and to the Messenger," you see the hypocrites turn away from you stubbornly.
62. How ˹horrible˺ will it be if a disaster strikes them because of what their hands have done, then they come to you swearing by Allah, "We intended nothing but goodwill and reconciliation."
63. ˹Only˺ Allah knows what is in their hearts. So turn away from them, caution them, and give them advice that will shake their very souls.
64. We only sent messengers to be obeyed by Allah's Will. If only those ˹hypocrites˺ came to you ˹O Prophet˺-after wronging themselves-seeking Allah's forgiveness and the Messenger prayed for their forgiveness, they would have certainly found Allah ever Accepting of Repentance, Most Merciful.
65. But no! By your Lord, they will never be ˹true˺ believers until they accept you ˹O Prophet˺ as the judge in their disputes, and find no resistance within themselves against your decision and submit wholeheartedly.
66. If We had commanded them to sacrifice themselves or abandon their homes, none would have obeyed except for a few. Had they done what they were advised to do, 209 it would have certainly been far better for them and more reassuring,
67. and We would have granted them a great reward by Our grace
68. and guided them to the Straight Path.
69. And whoever obeys Allah and the Messenger will be in the company of those blessed by Allah: the prophets, the people of truth, the martyrs, and the righteous-what honourable company!
70. This is Allah's favour, and Allah fully knows ˹who deserves it˺.

208. This verse was revealed right after Mecca had peacefully surrendered to the Muslims. 'Ali ibn Abi Ṭâlib, the Prophet's cousin and son-in-law, took the Ka'bah's key by force from Othmân ibn Ṭalḥa, the non-Muslim keeper of the Ka'bah. The verse was revealed to the Prophet ( ﷺ ) inside the Ka'bah with the order to give the key back to its rightful owner. He ( ﷺ ) ordered Ali to return the key to the keeper immediately along with an apology. Othmân was also promised that his family would keep the key forever. The keeper was so touched by the Quranic sense of justice that he decided to accept Islam.
